7. Howard College,  Big Spring, Tx  Brings back memories, grew up there and attended HC.  Hard to get in trouble there as long as ya don't hang with the Rodeo Team. Bar b qued cabrito at the dorm with goats stolen from a local pasture.
 8. Forgot about the Jack Rabbits, and Horny Toads, (and way back then) the evaporative A/C's.  Don't know if that was the norm for East Texas but still see some when I make it back home.
 9.

Let's have a little fun! Being lucky enough to live in East and West Texas in my life, I have observed a few similarities, and a few differences. Here's a little taste of my running list: West Texas has dust/East Texas...red dirt West Texas...Mesquite trees/East Texas...Pine trees West Texas...oil wells/East Texas...natural gas wells West Texas...stock tanks/East Texas...ponds West Texas...cattle ranches/East Texas...chicken farms West Texas...town every 50 miles/East Texas...every 10 miles West Texas...fire wood/East Texas...pulp wood West Texas...Walmart/East Texas...Walmart West Texas...14 point bucks/East Texas 11 point bucks West Texas...dove and phesants/East Texas squirrels and racoons .....actually squirrels and racoons....West Texas...road kill/East Texas...dinner West Texas...Town & Country and Allsups/East Texas...Kidd Jones and Polks West Texas...Concrete Slab/East Texas...Peir and Beam West Texas...multiple RV sales lots/East Texas...multiple trailer home sales lots West Texas...HEB Grocery Store/East Texas...Brookshire Bros. West Texas..."heart"/East Texas..."speed" West Texas...Tombstone/East Texas...Deliverance West Texas...Football is king/East Texas...Football is king Those of you that have experienced both, what have I missed? __________________
Tumleweeds,Windmills, and caliche roads
 10. Dayton will stil be young. Lost 1 Sr looks like several have been putting in a lot of work to get ready for this season.
 11. quote author=Lionfan link=topic=75758.msg901752#msg901752 date=1289242985] Yea no kidding not only are folks from Livingston no match for mighty Bronco's we can't spell either..... Couple thing to consider though: Total offense Dayton- 3052 yards Livingston- 3790 yards First downs Dayton-145 Livingston-188                                                                                                                                                                                      Blame that on the Dayton D. The Bronco's Offense only gets to play on 1/2 the field!!!  Guess I would prefer 30-40 yds. 1 first down and 7 pts.  vs defense giving up a Touchdown and I get the whole field to pad my 1st. down and rushing yds.stats. But thats just me
 12. I've been reading this thread wrong all week. Thought it said Old River Shootout  or was it Old River Shutout.  But there must be a very special Goose on the "Hill" laid 3 golden eggs this week
 13.

Dayton has always had a few players that play year round select baseball...problem is, only 1 or 2 take baseball seriously. The others participate with other sports (nothing wrong with that), and don't pick up the baseball until the season starts. In the off season, players that only play baseball are in PE and get very little work unless they play select or work on their own. I seriously doubt Dayton will be much of a problem for anybody until they get serious with their program.
Very nicely said and everyone agrees with that. It might work in 3A ball but when you get up to 4A and 5A and hopefully eventually 6A you have to have a program in every sport to be successful. practice makes perfect [/quote Definitely agree with both statements and Dayton is not there yet, but 5 or 6 played summer ball. 1 senior and 1 soph. played in marietta and 4 are playing fallball so I think that is a small step in the right direction
 14. I know for a fact that several of the school teachers, teaching those brilliant young minds on the "hill" have PURPLE DIPLOMA'S
