Not intending to down your area, but my point was what is actually in Sour Lake that would make a family up and move there from somewhere else. You have answered that question. And so do they usually just happen to have a son that can play ball, too? usually? I am sure Sour Lake is a fine place to live.
NO - very few move ins in Sour Lake who have good basketball players.( in fact, I have been watching this program since 1984 and this is the first one I can think of that has a chance to make a substantial impact even though he is not likely to start- is it that way at Yates?) Little Dribblers program is a good one and develops the overwhelming majority of those who play at Hardin Jefferson- ( i think that is the way it is supposed to be done and, if it was that way everywhere, HJs basketball history might be even better than it currently is)
Huh? I have always been a pretty humble guy. Not sure about any "happenings" in my life, but yeah I guess you can still say that I am a humble guy...I still see there is no response to my earlier question, though, my friend! Its OK to be a little biased towards your school or city! ;D
Biased? In the eyes of whom?
Yep, before you know Nash I'll be demanding mandatory urine test for all democrats ;D
Tests for Democrats? I thought it was already established that they were not involved in those sort of activities? Dont they spend most of their time making sure the environment is protected and that the "rich" don't stay that way?

This area is not a mile from Jack Yates. Explore people-get out of S.E.Texas sometimes.
While I normally would not be attending an Ozen game, it would be worth the trip if I knew that I would see AAW and Dove teaming up at the broadcast table. If this becomes a reality, I hope somebody will let me know.

While you are making your "assumption" I would suggest that my post that was joking about the social life in Sour Lake is hardly an avoidance of your question.
So, would this "transfer" to Hardin Jefferson be considered the "rich getting richer" or are any of you guys going to accuse this particular program of recruiting players to the "Metropolis" called Sour Lake, Texas?.... ::)....I am just asking.... 8)
It is apparent to me that the buoyant/vibrant economy, endless social opportunities, and general sophistication of the population of Sour Lake attracts many.
Just so happen to see Greg Wise yesterday. I know how those kids ended up at Yates. He didn't recruit them. But I do predict we may see more students from Africa coming to attend high schools here and just so happen to be 6'5" and up. ;)
Did he also "not recruit" the kids from California a couple of years ago? Its really amazing how all of these players manage to wind up at the same location.

I think any bank will be fine. Dove has multiple resources and multiple ATM cards made necessary by all of his travels in recent years. The young man of whom you speak is, in my opinion, a real P L A Y E R. He doesnt make the mistake of trying to be Magic Johnson. He delivers two handed chest passes to the man ahead of him on the floor that are always very well placed making it easy for the receiver to take the appropriate action. Watched him play in 3 summer games and he made 0 mistakes. He will probably be underappreciated because he isn't a "flash" but rather a solid, sound player with sufficient speed/quickness to match up with anyone he guards. Equally good with left or right hand when going to the bucket and very proficient ball handler. And what I appreciate most of all, he plays the game well and yet doesnt feel the need to pound his chest, talk trash, give the icy stare, or use whatever "in" methods are currently in vogue to demonstrate defiance/arrogance.

I have also found that, the older I get, the better I used to be.

Question for Nederland BB Fans
stevenash replied to Jay Bilas's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads

You guys had a potential 6'5" sophomore move in, that is the son of a Houston area coach....His dad, made him return to Houston after staying in Nederland all summer with his mother, and working out with the kids from Nederland...The kid REALLY wanted to stay in Nederland with his mother, which would have made him eligible to play varsity basketball for the Bulldogs..Yet his dad told him he would not sign the paperwork for him to transfer, told him he would not be eligible anyway, and THEN he accused Nederland coach Brian English of recruiting, which I know is not the case..I really feel for the kid....BUT is the dad REALLY wrong for making his son play for him in Houston? What do you think?
I think the Dad should do what he think's is best for his Son . . . spiritually, socially and lastly . . . athletically!!
What about sending him to Silsbee?
