After their workout they are allowed to join up with their baseball/basketball team. Once football is over these players should be released to the next sport. You have pitchers being forced to lift weights on the day they will be pitching in a game. Not smart. This is the reason for such few kids in football.....they know that if they join football and want to play baseball/basketball they can't get out of the year long lifting, which takes away from training for the next sport, therefore, they don't play football at all.
Can't believe any coach would force a pitcher to lift if he was throwing that day?
Just repeating what I was told. Bottom line is, you shouldn't have football coaches working out baseball/basketball players before releasing them to their respective coaches and practice. Once a player moves on to the next sport, they should be released and trained by THAT coach only.
