1.

[Hidden Content]
I didn't realize that NED players were ejected. All the announcer called out was the BH player. Thanks for the link. The PA News article states -"... two Nederland players were ejected. No penalties were enforced for the scuffle except for the 15-yard personal foul for the late hit. It was actually two players ejected, being one Nederland and one Barber's Hill.  Just another example of how the newspaper is not always "the Bible" when it comes to reporting.  ;)
2. The parents, grand-parents, friends, family, etc., stayed to congratulate the players, as they do after every game.  My daughter has a large family and we always stay to congratulate her after the game.  This may not happen for 20 minutes or more and it can’t happen until the girls meet with their coach.  Again, there is NEVER an excuse for vulgarities, cussing, sexual innuendoes and/or obscenities at a school function or any function for that matter, but NEVER at a school sponsored function.  I’m not talking about “rude” or “bad” behavior.  This is unacceptable and disgusting behavior by any standards.  So yes, enough is enough but you can’t even compare this behavior to rude immature behavior.  I am sure that the majority did not participate in this behavior and am not labeling all for the actions of some, but regardless, something should have been done when this took place. I commend the sportsmanship of the PNG & Nederland players and their family and friends are very proud of all of the players!  I’m sure that we will support our local teams at the playoff and wish all the teams good luck!
3. It's one thing to have spirit but totally different circumstances to display bad sportsmanship.  I was very disgusted by the display of bad sportsmanship and name calling!  We had parents and grand-parents as well as young children at these games.  I had to see the look on my 71 year old dad's face when he heard obscene statements being called out to the players by name as well as see the look on young children that didn't understand the obscenities.  This is unacceptable and whether the students can be identified or not a blanket statement should be made to all the staff and students.  I believe that the Nederland Coach should have called a time out and informed the referees about the vulgar statements.  It’s ridiculous and a copout stating that you can’t do anything about it because you don’t know the offenders.  Actually, it is given the offenders a platform to continue.  The adults need to be adults and stop letting the kids take over.  Letters should be sent to the PNG School Board letting them know the sort of behavior that was being exhibited is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.  It takes away from the hard working athletes that are playing for their schools.
4. Yes Cheermom4 to all your questions (statements?) ???. And I don't think it takes too much thought process to figure out who is being talked about...
5. IMO there is no reason why a team should win their first two games back to back and then loose the next three games. The girls were obviously not in shape to play more than three games. You could see that they lost steam in game three. The players had the talent and ability to win the first two games when they played Ozan on Tuesday (10/6) then they looked like the wind was taken from their sails during game 3 and 4. They were able to come back and win game 5. However, Friday (10/9) the players were excellent again in game 1 & 2 and then they just didn't have the stamina to sustain the next 3 games. It was heart wrenching. If the players were working out daily with a regimen that would enable them to have endurance as well as ability then there would have been no reason why all the games should not have been played as the first 2 this past week. They may have been ultimately out played by those other teams but there is no reason why they should have lost due to not having the stamina to sustain the game. And I believe that if you are on the team then you should be able to rotate in and out and play to the ability of the other athletes. No one can improve their game if they go in for one play and are immediately removed when they make a mistake. Can you imagine the pressure on that player to be so fearful that they are going to screw up and then be removed from the court? How can they function and keep their head in the game if they have this pressure on their backs? The coach should use the team they chose and have and play them hard in and off the court and work their line-up. The Nederland girls have a lot of heart and deserve better than what they are currently getting IMO. If the coach is not going to give 100% then how can you expect your players to do the same? I'm sure they were a fine coach but there doesn't appear to be the drive and motivation that makes a consistently winning team. And I don’t mean that every match has to be won. But they should be motivated and driven to be able to walk away from the games at the end of the night knowing that they had fun and played some great ball!
