1. Ryan Fitzpatrick looks a lot like my wife's 63-year-old uncle.  I am beginning to think Ryan Fitzpatrick plays QB a lot like a 63-year-old man.
It's already been arranged. It's at Kyle field.
I thought so.

 6.
especially since they hung the banner that said our place was #2...I gues if that's the case, it leaves them at #3 or somewhere behind that
Pearland Dawson is #2 all right, as in full of #2.  ;D I have been following high school football for over 30 years, and PD has got to be the most arrogant team I have seen, from their taunting of Nederland fans before the game last year, all the way to their coach's post-game comments tonight.  Good riddance.

So many thoughts but I'll start with 5th and 7.... To me, either Ned should have been able to decline the penalty OR accept it with a ten second runoff which would've ended the game. Is there no runoff rule in hs??? If not, that's a load of crap! Any team can just sacrifice 5 yards for basically a free time out if they have none.. If the clock is ticking, just commit a false start and the clock stops, giving you enough time to get your field goal team on the field.. I think something major was blown tonight with that. For sure, the field goal was blown.. I can't believe not one of the officials were watching the game clock. A full second ran off after the clock hit 0:00. Nederland nearly got screwed bad tonight and I am just glad it didn't turn out that way. Great job Dogs... I think you just made some more believers in that defense.
Maybe we can get a ref on here to answer this question.  I know there is in the NFL, but not sure about college.
was it because it was a dead ball foul ??
A false start is a dead ball foul.  Illegal motion is a declinable penalty.  I wasn't there and was listening, but according to the announcers Dawson had people running everywhere and weren't set which would be illegal motion.  I'm not sure what happened just what the announcers said
What I saw was illegal motion. At any rate guys, you proved to be a better team in OT, move on and win state!
The call by the referee was illegal shift.  According to the NCAA rule book (applicable also to UIL), illegal shift is a live ball foul.  As such, that spike on fourth down should have given Nederland the ball.

Last year doing Dayton game with LaMarque i overheard  a coach telling players to hurt our player break arm take them out. undisciplined team
I overheard a Dayton coach say the same thing. What are the odds?
If a coach orders his player to hit a player on the other team hard, but cleanly and legally, that's football.  An injury in that situation is part of the game. If a coach orders his player to maliciously injure a player on the other team in violation of the rules of the game and state law (go break his arm or go bust his knees), that is at least misdemeanor conduct and could be a felony, depending on the severity of the injury.  No matter the team involved, that is unacceptable.  If not prosecutable, it at least opens the school and coach to civil litigation.
