  1. Livingston has a group coming in that has gone 35-1 in two season with their only loss being to a Woodlands Middle School who has not lost in two years. This group has won numerous AAU tournaments and went to the National Tournament in their age group three years in a row and coming in second one year. Shouldbe a great group.
  2. Joubert would be a great hire for Ozen. His style would fit very well with Ozen's talent.
  3. Too many good teams out there better than them this year. Also, with Boutte gone they will lose a game because of the coaching aspect of it. I fully expect Huntsville to beat them next round if they both make it their and for Huntsville to make the regional tourney instead of them.
  4. Maybe he doesn't show up every game? There have been numerous games this year where he was a non factor. Kid's only a sophomore. Maybe he wasn't a factor in that game, I wasn't there so I don't know how North Forest was playing him. Also, guard play has to do with him being able to play inside and Nederland struggled with teams that could play in their face D and their guards would struggle getting the ball to him. I assume North Forest did that exact thing to them. Forney will be a beast the next couple of years.
  5. Me and a buddy of mine were listening to the game last night here on the radio. Neither one of us are from Livingston but we just like basketball and let me tell you just listening to the game on the radio it sounded like one heck of a game. If I remember correctly Livingston was up like 13 with 2 minutes left in the game and Del Valle came storming back. The announcers, probably one sided because I think they were Livingston fans, were saying that Del Valle couldn't miss a shot and that Livingston was getting some bad calls and no calls against them. I don't know because I wasn't there. Anyway, apparently with 9 seconds or so Del Valle threw it in to their big man and he scored to tie the game @ 70 and that Harris kid got the ball and turned up the court and was fouled with 4 seconds left. Hit the front end of shooting 2 and missed the second one. Livingston came down with the rebound but was called for traveling. Del Valle had one last shot with a little over 2 seconds left and heaved it up and it missed. To add a little more, apparently Livingston never trailed a quarter. If I remember correctly they carried an 8-12 point lead the entire night. Just couldn't close it out bigger I guess. Again, from the radio it sounded like one crazy game. Congrats Livingston!!!
  6. I know a little about Livingston but know very very little about CE King. Who you got and why?
  7. Maybe it's just a thing where the Livingston coaches want to prepare their team for a game in a bigger gym, different atmosphere, more pressure than what they are used to seeing. I'm sure both teams want to win for that second seed but I've known coaches who do things like this to prepare their team for future down the road games. I don't know but that's just my two cents because I've known coaches who have done that before. Maybe turning up the heat on their team is what they think is best for them and I don't know of another gym between those two schools that would offer up that kind of gym?
  8. Are you positive about that? I ask because I don't know and it may very well happen in 20-4A to determine seeding.
  9. You would think because he is also an Assitant Principal he might have a clue about.
  10. Yes, because everyone on a message board is innocent in that case. NO ONE and I mean no one says anything bad about a team, coach, administration etc. That's the whole premise of a message board, to criticize and discuss and each and every person on here is guilty as charged when talking about specific kids or coaches. Give me a break!!
  11. Forget about what did or didn't happen in the past few weeks and whether or not the school policy says anything or not, that's what my big issue was with everything. It's so obvious what went on here before the Central game and it's sickening to know that a coach and a program gets away with crap like that and is willing to do it. At some point your own personal morals have to kick in and apparently that didn't happen here.
  12. Well, I understand what your saying but I can't say anything more because I don't know who reads these boards. But, from what I know of this incident there was nothing that made it a felony and it still happened. Seeing that play out and now seeing this play out it just boggles my mind that there was nothing done, whether or not TEA says it has to be done or not, the fact that Ozen is simply giving him a meanningless 2 game suspension is in my mind a way for them to apease some people and keep their star player out there. Regardless of what TEA says, sorry. APpreciate the info though.
  13. Nope from what I understand it was a simple fist fight but because the charges were brought up the school sent him away until they were dropped. Maybe it's a school thing?
  14. This was not on school property. I don't condone drug usage but let's get our facts straight. Your right, I will give you that. I didn't notice the fact that the quote was in a bullet underneath that. So, let me ask you this question. A student gets in a fight off campus, charges are filed against him by the other kids family, that kid is scooped up and sent to AEP until those charges are dropped. How does that happen? Because it has.
  15. Do kids who commit even something as little as a misdemeanor drug charge off campus get nothing or not required to get anything from the school? Nothing happens? So where they or weren't they notified of this instance? If they were did he get any kind of suspension at all? If he did get some kind of suspension how was he allowed to play? I have no problem with someone throwing facts out there but there are questions I wish some people would answer. No one owes that too me but it would be nice to know. Again, my big deal is that I just don't see how a 2 game suspension of a kid where EVERYONE knows the games don't matter, and allowing him to come back to the playoffs teaches this kid a darn thing. He basically is being told that if your a good enough athlete then things will work out. A lesser athlete gets thrown off the team and suspended immediately, but he doesn't, just want to know why.
  16. You may be right but if that kid was busted on the 25th (Sunday night) and everything was cleared up and any and all disciplinary action was taken care of by the 27th (Tuesday night) for him to play then 1. Nothing was done 2. What they did do was so weak it didn't affect his playing time at all. 3. Saveat should step up his punishments on his own team. Will he play in a playoff game? Will he be suspended from school and sent to AEP until his court date has come and gone? Will Ozen have to do anything with the wins they accumulated while he was still playing? If the answers to those questions are yes, no, and no then the administration, athletic department, Jefferson and the district have failed that young man and any other student or athlete that comes through there.
  17. I don't know if it's taboo or not to start another thread over this stuff but I am just afraid that after 12 pages of stuff written what I have to say may get lost. But, according to the DISTRICT POLICY for Ozen High School here is the part that is written about what happened with this young man. In any school when a student is ARRESTED they are to be sent to some kind of Alternative Education Placement center. According to Beaumont ISD's own student "Code of Conduct" this is what it says regarding a student, athlete or not: [Hidden Content] At the bottom of page 24 and carried over to page 25 it says this, "A student must be placed in a DAEP if the student:".... "Sells, gives, or delivers to another person, or possesses, uses, or is under the influence of marijuana, a controlled substance, or a dangerous drug in an amount not constituting a felony offense. (School-related felony drug offenses are addressed in the Expulsion section.) (See glossary for “under the influenceâ€)" Now, you can sit there and tell me all the if’s and’s or but’s you want but it is clearly spelled out that if a student is caught with that stuff, and this applies to on or off campus, then they are to be put into AEP or DAEP whatever you want to call it. Being in education I know that it is a mandatory placement when a student has charges filed against them, no questions asked about it, that kid goes to AEP until said charges are dropped. He NEVER went and will he ever go? It sounds like that’s going to be a no. Two game suspension, in games that EVERYONE knows doesn’t mean jack squat, is possible the dumbest thing I have ever heard and I have been around for quite a while. And then he will be back in the playoffs? What a joke, that kid will learn nothing and remember a coach’s job first and foremost is to TEACH a kid how to be a productive citizen not a menace. It’s not to win, though there is tons of pressure, but it is to help that student athlete grow up and give him or her qualities and attributes to be a productive person in society. Also, how do you as a coach not know what is going on with your program? Saveat can tell us all day long that he didn’t know this happened, that’s BS and I say that because if a coach doesn’t know what is going on inside his or her program then they need to be gone anyway. EVERY coach knows when something like this happens because people EVERYWHERE talk. Also, the local police department is supposed to let the school know when they arrest a kid or take him to jail and that kid is a student. Saveat knew and he and his coaching staff playing dumb is a HUGE black mark on his career because know matter what he does from here on out people will still think he is doing some shady stuff. I am disappointed in him as well. So, in all this stuff going on who cares if they forfeit their last five games or not the kid is not going to be put into AEP. How does that follow their own guidelines and how do they explain this situation to the rest of their student body? By the way for you Ozen fans backing the school on all this and calling us other people crazy. I honestly believe that if you go back and look at Ozen’s school records over the course of this year, you will find a kid that was caught with some kind of drug or was involved with the police and that kid was sent to AEP (DAEP). How come it’s not the same in this situation?
