  1. Babin's number 1 problem is the community. Lumberton has had a hometown coach with Crueder(sp) and he did well until he ran into some kids with less talent. And don't forget Babin was part of that staff and if my sources are correct was part of the change in offensive schemes, after he left and came back before he left again. The community has been ate up with the TIFI league kids winning and beating Kounce in the super bowl. There are some unrealistic expectations from the parents. I also don't think you can take under level records and expect them to transfer to Friday nights, a lot of changes happen in those couple years, especially if you have a bunch of juniors on jv...jmo
  2. BH has no say so on what district they get put in....that is all a UIL decision...now I know people think there is some at BH that have a say in what decisions are made by the UIL and I can tell you there is no such person...no matter what anybody thinks
  3. PNG beat vidor so PNG is D2 1 seed and Vidor D2 2 seed
  4. Not hating on anybody, but I believe BH's jv teams were always like 9-1 or 8-2 when Gage was there.....just saying the jv record doesn't always translate to good varsity records in the future....but hey....doesn't mean Dayton won't be back to normal next year either
  5. Not taking up for the slim ball, but the incident with his kid was close to 8 or so years ago.... Now it does not surprise me that he said what he said because if you know the guy you would know what type of person he is. HE thinks he is better than everybody else....the people of mont belvieu do not. They also do not apologize for the money that the SCHOOL has. Yes there are a few that have money there, but go find out where the parents work....more than likely a plant around here. Then ask them how many hours they work....all I'm saying is that there may be some money there, but majority are working class families who value a good education and hard work.
  6. Just be sure to be humble BH.....it was one game against Vidor.....be proud though. This new coach will be better than gage for sure....and don't talk about a new coaching staff....still have a lot of coaches that was there with gage that are still on staff now....big difference is the head coach can motivate and has a great system ...keep building on this win...have some good kids there with a lot of heart....but don't get cocky and start spouting off how good they are gonna be....
  7. I think PNG wanted to play on Monday to get their guy back on the mound as well
  8. Rain!!! Bunch of wet fields in the area.....think Jasper has revamped their field recently
  9. I know Silsbee did not make the playoffs in 1997...HJ beat them to go to the playoffs....jasper finished first and HJ finished 2nd.....don't think 3 teams made the playoffs that year and I know for a fact new caney was not in that district
  10. Don't think the 1997 playoff results above are entirely correct....Silsbee did not make the playoffs that year and new Cagney was not in their district...I believe they only took 2 teams that year and it was Jasper and HJ
  11. I know I'm late on this, but I think mr. 92 threw against ball yesterday
  12. I was being sarcastic when I said you couldn't recruit in high school. Crosby has been accused, CE King has been accused, be willing to bet PNG, Nerdland, and PAM has had some player swaps also
  13. But I thought you couldn't recruit in high school sports
  14. I think anybody with a state championship ring is a target......don't think that money will pull coaches away....Gage was not their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice when they hired him. If my sources ard correct they flew the coach from Abilene Wiley in 1st and he got Wiley to match....same happened to the next two before the got Gage, which his son was interning at Wiley. I agree that the AD and HC should be two different positions, however, your not attracting most good coaches without them being together
  15. The right coach can win with the athletes BH has.....just have to get the right coach, one that is gonna get kids to want to play again. Over the past several years too many kids have quit to concentrate on one sport....mostly baseball. And if you truly look at the baseball team....they don't have D1 players there either, but I'll get to that when baseball starts up on that thread. I think a big name is a mistake. BH will try to bring a coach in with rings, but it will probably be one that is close to his way out. Young and energetic is what they need. As for Bruce Taylor as HC......no......great guy, but don't think kids want to play for him either.....he should be on his way out as well....42 years is a long time to coach
  16. It shouldn't move until January. .....make sure you get the right guy, or maybe in for another miserable 5 years
  17. Loosing the pride over the past 5 years is on the administration. They hired Gage. They have the arrogance of having the stipulation that the new coach has to have a ring.....worked out well with this last coach they hired. One of BH's problems is the administration getting caught up in image. Doesn't matter what you look like on the outside if your broke on the inside. School board should think about going after a guy that can get the kids to want to play and not worry about the political bs......worked out well for crosby.....I'm not saying you have to go out and hire a 1st time head coach, but make sure it's the right guy. Just because a guy won a ring in the 90s doesn't mean he's a good coach. Find a guy that wants to be there not one that is looking to help his retirement numbers go up. Don't help somebody pay off their lake house.... hire the guy that can truly make a difference in those kids lives, one that coaches not stands there with his arms crossed, one that motivates by actions and is there during athletics, not one that shows up at the end and gives a 5 min speech. Go get one that relates.....as far as having big strong kids.....strong you can help....big is still genetics.....can't coach your o line to be 6'2 280......just saying
  18. Ok....I get that most schools don't have many 4.4 guys, but the hill has 2 or 3 4.6 guys with a bunch of 5.1 guys.....I'm not saying that these kids can't win....just think that expectations are pretty high for kids that are just not very athletic. Do think the main problem is kids are wanting out of the program. Maybe it's happening everywhere, but there a lot of kids concentrating on 1 sport, and it's not foorball
