Comments: Thrall improved to 8-0 in district as the Tigerettes pounded Buckholts 25-17 25-21 25-20 and Bartlett 25-10 25-8 25-14. Medina is 8-1 in district and 26-6 over all after beating Leakey. Medina is tied with Utopia for first place. Medina beat them in the championship game in the D’Hanis tournament early in the season, then lost a district game to them. They finish the season with each other October 23. The Savoy Lady Cardinals (27-2, 5-0) sweep the Blue Ridge Lady Tigers 25-11, 25-15, 25-8. Bailey McGehee and Emily Cornell finished in double digits with 11 kills a piece for the Lady Cards. Whitney Cooke handed out 21 assists. Iola beat Calvert and Mumford last week to go to 26-6. North Zulch swept Richards and Mumford to improve to 23-11. Moody is 20-10 overall and 7-0 in District after defeating Chilton 25-15, 25-8, 25-13. Cumby beat Detroit 27-25, 25-9, 21-25, 25-16 as Savanah Neal had 13 assists, 10 kills, 2 blocks. Teammate Brittany Seely had 17 assists. Thrall improved to 22-5 by slamming Georgetown Gateway 25-2 25 -7 25-10 and Granger 25-20 25-21 25-8. Colmesneil bounced back from their hard fought match with Evadale with a decisive 3-0 victory over Chester as Shelby Duhon had 8 kills and 3 aces.

Comments: Altair Rice beat Brazos 23-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-21, 15-8 then Brazos beat Hallettsville 22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-17 and Schulenburg beat Bastrop Cedar Creek 25-14, 25-14, 25-11 and Hempstead 25-7, 25-14, 25-10. Hallettsville beat Weimar 25-19, 25-23, 25-12, so Brazos, Rice and Schulenburg are tied for first place. Gunter (26-7, 11-0) and Pottsboro (24-8, 10-1) both clinched playoff spots in District 11-2A Friday with wins. Whitney beat Rio Vista 25-12, 25-9, 25-20 to improve to 31-2 while Grape Creek swept Hawley 25-9, 25-14, 25-5. Prairiland defeated Melissa 25-15 25-20 25-23 and Leonard 25-18 25-10 25-14. Woodville swept Newton 25-5, 25-14, 25-13. Poth clinched their district crown by sweeping Karnes City 25-9, 25-13, 25-21 as Tara Dunn ripped 12 kills and both Avery Acker and Jessica Dzuik had 11 assists each. The Pirettes are 34-5 overall and 11-0 in district play. Grandview had a slow start due to numerous injuries in the preseason and more than half of a team with no varsity experience, but has advanced through district in second place only behind Whitney one game losing to Whitney 25-20, 25-17, 25-20 in round one action. Overall Grandview is 19-13, 8-1 in district play.

Comments: A bit of confusion on my part. Paris defeated Pleasant Grove 25-14, 25-16, 25-17 and Liberty-Eylau 25-13, 25-16, 25-11 to improve to 32-3 for the year and is on an 18 match win streak. Paris is led by seniors Tiara Hall, Caroline Chappell, Katie Cade and Kendall McDonald, who have an 88-26 record as regulars on varsity for the past 3 years. Paris beat Paris North Lamar 25-17, 24-26, 25-19, 25-19. 6-1 junior middle blocker Andi Bawcum had 19 kills, 1 block, and 1 ace; 6-0 senior middle blocker Tiara Hall had 15 kills and 1 block; senior outside hitter Kendall McDonald had 12 kills, 1 block, 5 aces. In Texarkana, Liberty-Eylau (30-5, 4-3) beat Pleasant Grove (26-10, 5-2), 22-25, 25-23, 25-17, 9-25, 15-13. Salado won twice as the Eagles beat Lampasas 3-1 and swept Liberty Hill 3-0 on Friday night to finish the first half of district unbeaten. Argyle (27-5, 5-0) defeated Aubrey 3-0 (25-11, 25-7, 25-13) on Friday night in District 9-3A in Argyle. Monahans lost to Andrews 26-24, 23-25, 25-17, 22-25, 13-15. Monahans then beat Ft. Stockton 25-6, 25-15, 25-11. Celina defeated Bonham 3-0 and Anna 3-0 to improve to 33-5. Gatesville stayed unbeaten in 19-3A with wins over La Vega and Lorena. Hornets, who got 33 kills and 13 blocks from MB Glynna Johnson in the victory over Lorena, are 30-5 overall and 7-0 in district. Commerce beat Anna in district 10-3A (23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 26-24). Salado opened the second round by sweeping Taylor and Burnet 3-0 last week to go 2 games up in District play. They are 28-8 on the season and 12-1 in their last 13 games only losing to state ranked 4A Waco Midway in a very tightly contested battle.

Comments: Aledo is 29-8, 11-0. Frenship lost two matches last week, losing to Hereford, 30-32, 25-16, 25-12, 26-24 then falling to Canyon Randall. Montgomery defeated Brenham 25-21, 21-25, 30-28, 25-15 and Magnolia beat Stratford 25-13, 26-24, 24-26, 25-18 as Courtney Felinski had 22 kills and 17 digs. Magnolia swept West 25-11, 25-17, 25-20 as Paige Holland had 44 assists. Richardson Pearce beat Highland Park; Lake Travis continues to beat everything and everybody in sight while Elgin and McCallum are leading their districts. Smithson Valley is back into form, unbeaten in district play.

Comments: Belton defeated Shoemaker 25-21, 25-21, 25-15 while Cy-Fair volleyball defeated both Cy-Lakes and Cy-Falls to improve their record to 13-2 in district and an overall record of 27-8. Copperas Cove is 29-8, 10-1 after beating Harker Heights 25-11 25-23 25-16 and Bryan 25-17, 25-16, 25-15. Georgetown beat College Park 25-21, 25-19, 20-25, 30-28. Corpus Christi King is 36-3 after beating South San Antonio 25-5, 25-13, 25-18 while Austin Westlake (37-3) dominated Austin High 25-19, 25-16, 25-20 and Lewisville Hebron swept Plano East 25-11, 25-20, 27-25. Cy Woods beat Cy Springs 25-9, 25-6, 25-8 And San Antonio Reagan is 37-4 after beating MacArthur 25-18, 25-17, 25-19. In other action, Keller Central Chargers beat Keller Fossil Ridge 25-3, 25-8, 25-9; McKinney Boyd beat North Garland 25-10, 25-5, 25-8; and Klein Oak swept Klein Forest 25-11, 25-8, 25-13.
