2010 Cardinal Classic

The Cardinal Classic is Saturday, so come out and see the best runners in the area, as well as some great ones from out of town.  Schools are coming from as for as Baton Rouge, LA and Hammond, LA, as well as from Huffman and Dayton.  There are also several schools coming from right here in our area.  Below is the complete team list, and there are over 500 runners registered to compete.

Lady Cardinals win Cardinal CC Classic

VIDOR — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals, with a slew of experience back from last year, proved Saturday that they will be a “crew” to be reckoned with this cross country season.

The Lady Cardinals, competing up in the Class 4A-5A Division, won the team title at the Cardinal Classic Saturday at Claiborne Park.

The Lady Cardinals finished with 44 points, barely nipping Huffman (45), which also moved up to compete in the bigger division.

Christian Life Academy’s Anna Katherine Devitt won the two-mile race in 12 minutes, 4.92 seconds.

Meagan Shockley led the Lady Cardinals, finishing fifth with a time of 13:06.26. She was followed by teammates Jessica Franklin (8th, 13:30.91), Mary Nguyen (9th, 13:45.01), Bree Fontenot (13th, 13:58.58), Alex Holland (26th, 14:43.06), and Arron Valencia (29th, 15:02.34).

Little Cypress-Mauriceville’s Payton Burns had a strong showing, placing fourth in 13:04.26. She was followed by teammates Ashleigh Jones (22nd, 14:34.53). Orangefield’s Kayla Williams competed in the higher division as well, placing a solid 7th in 13:30.66.

In the boys 4A-5A Division, Nederland won the team crown with 50 points. St. Thomas Aquinas was second (63) and Huffman third (70).

Huffman’s Jose Castro won the 5000-meter run in 17:13.98.

The Bridge City varsity boys competing in the bigger classification race and placed fourth (72) while LC-M was sixth (172).

Kirby Shepherd was 10th for the Cardinals with a time of 18:05.34. He was followed by teammates Aaron Lejeune (12th, 18:14.27), Armando Chavez (14th, 18:17.34), Brock Jones (17th, 18:23.20), Luke Hebert (19th, 18:29.48), and Sawyer Hogan (23rd, 18:54.89).

Aaron Lilly paced LC-M, placing fifth with a 17:48.02. He was followed by teammates Nathan Trahan (37th, 20:18.97), Matt Godfrey (38th, 20:25.44), Adam Garza (47th, 21:32.81), Justin Ward (51st, 21:50.81), Alexander Lilly (52nd, 22:09.98) and Dyllon Sanford (55th, 23:12.45).

In the boys 3A-and-Under Division, Tarkington won the team crown with 31 points while Deweyville was a solid second with 42.

Dillon Lambright was fifth for the Pirates with a time of 20:07.59. He was followed by teammates Lanston Monceaux (6th, 20:11.67), Jacob Howell (10th, 20:44.20), Ty Broussard (13th, 21:06.42), Hunter Estes (19th, 21:30.42), Michael Nolan (21st, 21:34.28), Daniel Smart (22nd, 21:58.30), Troy Corder (37th, 24:59.39) and Seth Womack (38th, 25:41.53.) Orangefield’s Blaise Hawkins was 18th in 21:27.64 and teammate Mason Ousley was 35th (23:59.42).

Hamshire-Fannett’s Callen Brooks won the race in 19:06.34.

In the girls 3A-and-Under Division, St. Thomas Aquinas won the team crown with 31 points. H-F was second (68) and Orangefield third (86).

St. Thomas Aquinas’ Carmen Brothers won the event in 13:05.91.

Vivian Luong led Orangefield, placing 10th with a 15:09.54. She was followed by teammates Hannah Walles (11th, 15:09.92), Emily Blanke (17th, 15:36.26), Haley Hooker (18th, 15:41.13), and Ashlee Broussard (34th, 16:59.16).

Deweyville’s Britan Chance was 23rd with a 16:10.96 followed by teammates Brooke Wilhelm (25th, 16:22.70), Tori Lummus (29th, 16:30.45) and Autumn Hardin (36th, 17:16.77).
