No doubt...Both fielders went for it and both had a shot at it.  Lucky for us, one of them came up big, with a great catch.  We have 8 returning starters, including 3 all-americans and stellar pitching.  Im told that the Bulldog rotation is pretty amazing itself.  I know they return a great team too.  I dont know how the chronicle didnt rank yall in the area.  Personally, i think yall belong somewhere between 6 and 10 in the state.  Thats just me though...

Is this poll just for Houston area teams?
I would think so. Brenham has a solid team but over the years LCM, WOS and Nederland have had Brenham's number.

I don't know if I'd go that far.  More appearances than any other high school.  We've been to the state tourney 14 times, 3 of them being in the last decade.  You could add up all of Nederland's, LCM's and WOS's state appearances, and we've been more times in just the last 10 years.  Were a threat to win it all every year.  Second most state titles, with 6.  26 consecutive playoff appearances.  You tell me who has who's #.....  That resume speaks for itself.  All 3 of those teams are good, but don't get carried away.

It's just about impossible to win every game when both teams are good.  I expect the other team to win occasionally.  Out of those 3 teams, Nederland worries me the most.  There's no doubt that all 3 have picked it up lately, but when it's all said and done it's not who you beat in the regular season....it's how far you go in the playoffs.

Maybe some in the early 80's and early 90's...  Brenham dominated the late 80's... Tourney appearances in 86' 87' 88' & 89'.  They won 3 straight championships out of those 4 appearances  86' 87' 88'

Well those that are good enough to make the playoffs, will get their chance at us....and the playoffs is where we shine.  May the best team win, cuz region 3 will need the best team we have, to represent us against Moody or Calallen.

Agreed (On the Crazy part)! BH is getting alot of respect. I don't think BH is at the point to know how good or bad they are going to be this year :) I hope it falls out that way, but GCM and KP have their entire teams back while BH returns 1-2 starters.
That's what I'm saying. K Park, more than GCM, is getting NO respect for what they have accomplished as a program in 2 years. They tied BH for 1st place in 19-4A last year for goodness sakes and they have the ENTIRE team returning! BH has a solid program, but to have them ranked higher than K Park IN PRESEASON is a joke.
I am not someone who posts this baffles me. I agree with KP, but GCM has not proven themselves yet. KP on the other hand has and deserves to be there as BH. GCM has not even made it to the playoffs yet. So why should they even be in there.  Prove yourself first!
Just my outlook on it!  It must be who you know and not what you have accomplished! They haven't "accomplished" playoffs yet.
In year 1 GCM missed the playoffs by one out! That was with 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. 8 of 9 primary starters return. Why would you not rank them in a PRE-SEASON poll? Why would you even have BH in the conversation at this point based on what they have coming back THIS YEAR? I think GCM proved themselves worthy of consideration last year, now we'll see what happens this year.
BH has always had a strong program and has alway seemed to be a leading team, so why do you not think they deserve the respect to think they could be a top contender. They will always compete and be successful.  As for GCM you can say only by 1 out, but that is baseball, a lot of teams can say well it was only by 1 out, run, ect... They will be a good team this year and will probably get a playoff spot no doubt, but to be placed in a poll over other teams in the HOUSTON AREAthat have alot of returning players and made the playoffs.  Especially in that district!  Example I not sure how you guys could exclude out Crosby, possibly CE king, and put GCM ahead of those. Each team has a lot of starters coming back and made it to the playoffs.  To each there own.  Although I have enjoyed the discussions you all have and sometime find it amusing, but enjoyable. Good Stuff  keep it coming. And good luck to GCM and the others on that list. It is going to be a great season!!! Let the good times roll ;D
I will agree with what you said about crosby and C.E. King.  The best player in the district goes to Crosby he won District MVP last year so you necer count out Crosby.

MVP went to CE King SS. Offensive MVP went K-Park SS. Did the Defensive MVP go to a Crosby player?
SS, Caleb Mangum was Co-MVP
P, Jeremy Gabryszwski was Co-Def. MVP.

I still believe that the best player in the district is Crosby SS Caleb M.  He is the whole package.  He is going to Galveston only becasue he wants to be able to get drafted after one year.  He had verbally committed to Rice.
I think Crosby may have the best player in the district, but it's not Mangum. IMO.

As a team, I can "avoid" Mangum and not let him beat me. Gabryszwski, on the other had, can control the game from the time he takes the mound. Very impressive as a soph. last year.

I will agree that he can control the game on the mound and he is very good, but why don't you pitch to Caleb and see if you can then stop him.  Becasue what you are saying is that you are scared to pitch to him.

It's called playing smart baseball.....has nothing to do w/ being scared.

I still believe that the best player in the district is Crosby SS Caleb M.  He is the whole package.  He is going to Galveston only becasue he wants to be able to get drafted after one year.  He had verbally committed to Rice.

I think Crosby may have the best player in the district, but it's not Mangum. IMO.

Not scared. It's just if I'm playing Crosby, I don't let him be the one that beats me in a close game. I'll challenge him in any other situation. That's called respect and Mr. Mangum has earned it.
