WOS

OK...for all the Barbers Hill fans on this site...WE DIDN'T SAY THIS. It came from a Dayton Bronco fan.

Sorry, bronco, but it had to be said because one glance at this by some BH fans (two in particular) will be translated as "WO-S is bragging again."

They never learn.

Your confidence is appreciated. However, we're a lot more cautious to think that. We ran into a buzzsaw last year in the Wimberley Texans. Of all our years in 5A and 4A, no one ever whipped us like they did...not until we became a 3A team did we witness such a beating. We like our chances to make the playoffs (notice to BH fans: I didn't say "win district") and we like our chances to make a run in the playoffs (notice to BH fans: I didn't say "win state") if we stay healthy, but a state title is a dream and few get to realize it. We'll see what happens.

Sorry but nobody will beat WOS in district !

They make another run at STATE !

You want to know why ?

A veteran coaching staff with kids that work their tails off every day at practice because thats what the coaches demand.

Ever wonder why there is only about 20 something kids on their varsity squad ? Not because they are 3A now, heck they had the same number of kids on the sideline when they were 5A.

Yes they have some speed but they are not blessed with talent like

P.A. Memorial is every year. Memorial signs what 6 to 9 D1 players each year and wins how many district games ?

There are some outstanding programs in our area, Nederland, PNG, Newton just to mention a few. And I know that they work their kids extremely hard also but I would bet my right arm that they don't out work

WOS !

WILL ANYONE IN 21-AAA BE ABLE TO BEAT THIS TEAM?

I doubt it. WOS is a strong team with a much better defense. I don't see them being in the top 3 and I think it will show in the playoffs. This district has turned out to be much weaker than what I expected. Silsbee being beat by PNG and the trouble Bridge City is having does not fair well for this district's strength of schedule. I know there are those who think PNG is a power house team, but not this year. Has nthing to do with BH, just the way I see it.

I'm gonna have to throw the brown flag on this play. :|

BC will have to get ALOT better to even have a chance against WOS this year.

Here's all I'm saying.....

2005 - BC up at half (regardless of the question of if it was a TD or not - that's old hat and not reletive at this time), loses 34-41 - one of the closest 3A opponents for WO-S all year.

2004 - BC chokes, gives up the ball, and loses in OT 21-27.

We weren't suppoesed to be able to compete with them either of those years, either. I know WO-S is VERY talented and tough, and I'm not trying to take anything away from them. But when District starts, anything can happen! Do I expect WO-S to win District again? Realistically, yes. Do I WANT them to win it again? No more than HFanInTheStands does!

ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN! NEVER say Never!

Actually our current varsity roster consists of about 26 players. To answer your question, we had more than 26 players when we were 5-A and 4-A, but when we were in 5-A and 4-A, we were smaller in numbers relative to other 5-A and 4-A teams. I remember one particular year. We palyed Newton. We were 4-A. They were 3-A, and they had more players than we did. It's a tough disciplined program at WO-S. That's why our numbers are low.

The only way WO-S loses in district is if they beat themselves. There are a few teams that are certainly good enough to capitolize on mistakes. -- (Look at Central with 5 turnovers losing to Sterling. It should have never happened, yet it did. )

Silsbee and Jasper will be the biggest obstacles once district comes around. BC has some good skill players, HJ and HF both will be capable of playoff runs as well. This will be a fun district to watch, but no one touches WOS if they are focussed for each game.

Guest Bridge City Card

No kidding. Conditioning has never been and will never be a problem for them. Their size is just fine for 3A. Now injuries is another story. They can't afford to lose anyone.

Unless you're talking about some other game, BC was definitely not up at half against WOS last year. They never had the lead in that game.

    • I will never understand why someone cares what decisions a family makes regarding their own child? Maybe Joe Burrow learns great life lessons from burning up all his eligibility sitting behind Justin Fields at Ohio State but I’m sure him and his family feel like they made the right decision by transferring to LSU, becoming the #1 pick and now being the highest paid QB in NFL history. Same for Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield and Jalen Hurts at their first stops.    I think it was more beneficial for Reggie Branch to transfer to Crosby and end up having an opportunity to play for a state title versus staying at GCM and learning life lessons while he loses and probably doesn’t go D1 because his team is a perennial loser. If Robinson throws for 2k yards this year it’s going to be a lot better for his recruitment purposes than sitting on the bench at BH, not to mention he’s going to get significant looks because of the kids he’s on the team with and the offers/commitments they’ve already made. He’s not being taught to run from competition, he’s being taught to gamble on himself just like all those other guys I mentioned did.
    • You have found Utopia. I live in the real world.
    • Every Yuppie wants one.  Give me a V-8 with loud pipes, and they can have their electric vehicles.  Was working a major incident one day and we had a road blocked off.  Police vehicles with lights going and a kid pulls up in a Tesla.  He - let me stress that HE is sobbing uncontrollably because he is at 5% battery life and HAS to go down the road we have blocked to get to a charging station.  He pulled over and literally threw a temper tantrum because we would not let him through.
    • Have you noticed that it's always the libs that bring up race?  For a long time now whenever a lib is losing an argument or have nothing else to say they bring up racism.  Or something silly like institutional racism.  LOL!
    • Ha!  Whatever that means!
