No. 2 ranked Moody topples top-ranked Calallen

The state baseball tournament still is more than two months away, but Moody and Calallen gave fans an early taste of what could be the battle for the regional championship.

In a non-district matchup featuring the state’s top two teams in Class 4A, the Trojans held on for a 7-4 victory Saturday afternoon in front of 2,689 fans at Whataburger Field. Moody, ranked second behind Calallen, improved to 17-1 and is sure to vault past the Wildcats (17-2) in the next Top 10 poll.
