SFA wins Southland Conference Title

For the first time since joining the Southland Conference, the S.F.A. Lumberjacks won regular season conference title outright, beating Central Arkansas, 61-39 at the Johnson Coliseum in Nacogdoches.

SFA needs to win the SLC tourney because they could probably get a 14 seed in the NCAA tourney which would give them a chance to pull a first round upset.  It's almost impossible to win as a 15 or 16 seed.  I believe NW State won their first round NCAA game as a 14 seed a few years back, which was also the last time the SLC was a 14 seed.

I'm hoping the jacks will finish the regular season out strong against UTSA Saturday and get after it during the tourney! Hopefully they'll use that great defense with some great offense!!

For the first time since joining the Southland Conference, the S.F.A. Lumberjacks won regular season conference title outright, beating Central Arkansas, 61-39 at the Johnson Coliseum in Nacogdoches.

In the words of Lee Corso... "Not so fast my friend!"

SFA has NOT won the title outright YET. They have to win on Saturday to clinch it outright. If they lose to UTSA on Saturday, there is a chance that Sam Houston and Nicholls could tie them if they were to win their respective games.If SFA loses and Nicholls wins, the Colonels will have the No. 1 seed by virtue of East division wins which is the first tie breaker for the SLC.

Just thought you should be informed of you premature excitement.
