What happened to HF Softball

Recommended Posts

This team was on top of the district in the first half. Now in the second half we have taken a topple to miss the playoffs. This is a year in and year out frustration for those of us that have spent years trying to get somewhere in this program. Lets go over a few facts. For all you people wh say its because my kid sits the bench. My kid plays all the time. We just want to win.

1. Every year our team has a "chosen one." A player or two that is considered above the team and the only reason the team ever wins. The rest of the team is constantly told they are the only ones doing there job and they cant do it by themselves. Putting them above the team causes resentment from the others girls on the team. Even after leaving for two games thees players was given a free pass. Even though they make it clear to everyone that the school team dosent matter to them, they still do no wrong.

2. Every year there is a player who becomes the one that gets beat down. Thsi year it is our first baseman Kendel Williams. You have to feel sorry for this kid. She carried this team with her bat the first half of district. Now the constant riding is starting to affect her. To our coach she cant do nothing right. Where others receeve all the credit she gets blamed. It has really started to bring her purformanse down. It is a shame she is a good ball player.

3. No disipline on this team. The day before the biggest game of the year only six players showed up to practice and two of them left early. The coach left early to do paperwork. You get constant reports of yelling matches with players and coaches. There have been several practices this year where our seniors just dont show up.  I wonder how often this happens at BC or WOS. You have to feel for Heather Pinder. She is a great team leader who saw the chance to win and is trying to lead this team for the playoffs. I would be wrong if I didn't also mention that Heather, Hillary Wade, Magen Herring and Kendel have given there heart and soul to this team this year.

This team is ready for the season to be over. I think the coach has lost them. It is sad because this is such a great game but our girls are just ready for the season to be over. There is 3 days left to get our heads right if we have any chance in our next 2 games. We our still in the hunt but anyone who sees our team can see a team that is down from the constant putting down they receeve.

This is really a big frustration for the players and the parents.  I think it happens at more schools than you would think.  I have not only been wondering about HF softball but also what is up with Silsbee softball.  They have a lot of talent on that team but are barely going to make the playoffs.  I know catcher got hurt at start of year, but surely one player didn't make that big of difference.  HF, Silsbee, Dayton maybe all have the same problem (coaching?)  not sure.  The coach has to bring the TEAM together.  If they don't play as team and believe in each other they won't do well.  In Silsbee's case why just settle for making playoffs when you have the talent to be District Champs!  Maybe the coaches think they are making the best decisions for the team but if it doesn't seem to be working maybe need to take a step back, evaluate, and try something different.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!

Spell check is a life saver...anyways...the girls had a bad game.  Try to look at this as a catalyst to going to the playoffs instead of ruining the team.

Catalyst to going to playoffs? With that loss, they have put themselves in a bad situation.  They'll have to play very good softball the rest of the season to even make it.  The Horns and Silsbee have the same record (I believe), so HF has to either win out(which can be done) and hope that Silsbee loses one, or they have to match Silsbee's next games and take it to a play in game.  So as to say a catalyst for playoffs...they need to get in first.
