It has been a busy week for baseball all-stars from Lee, Sterling, Barbers Hill and Crosby.

Monday afternoon in the Houston Area Baseball Coaches All-Star game Kyle Bieschke drew a starting assignment for the 5A Northeast All-Stars at Reckling Park on the campus of Rice University. Bieschke was 0-2 at the plate with a groundout and a line out as the Northeast fell to the Southwest 4-3. The Northeast rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game only to see the Southwest pull it out in the ninth.

“It was fun just going out there and seeing all of the other players,†Bieschke said. “The stadium was nice and it was great playing at Reckling Park.â€

Today Colby Townley, Cameron Campbell and Derek Hulsey of Barbers Hill and Derrick Massey of Dayton will suit up for the HABCA North All-Stars when they take on the South in the 1A-4A All-Star Game. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Reckling Park.

This past weekend, Townley, Chase Dempsay of Sterling and Trey Buck of Crosby suited up for South in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star game in Round Rock. The south rallied from a 6-3 deficit to take a 7-6 win. Boogie Anagnostou of La Porte was the winning pitcher.

Dempsay had an RBI double in the bottom of the third to close the gap to 3-2 and Townley reached on a triple and scored to tie the game 3-3. Buck reached base safely on a fielder’s choice in the game.

All three participants garnered All-State attention by the THSBCA. Dempsay was named to the 5A All-State second team as an outfielder. Buck was named to the 4A all-state team as a shortstop and Townley was named to the 4A team as an outfielder.

Ross Hales of Barbers Hill was named to the third team as a pitcher and Cameron Campbell was named second team all-state as a catcher.

“It’s a great honor for those kids,†BH head coach Gil Stalbaum said. “It’s great for them and they deserve all the recognition they can get.â€

Hunter Cervenka was named to the H5AB All-Houston first team as a utility player. Chase Dempsay of Sterling and Michael Mahan of Lee were named to the third team as outfielders.
