Alvin HS- Big Hire

Recommended Posts

They had to hire someone to save face.  Teykl had some really good years at Terry.  If the former coach had a clue how to run the wing T it can be a successful offense.  Angleton goes to the playoffs every year and runs the same offense.  But Hardin couldn't even line up right.  Hopefully this guy will invest in the community, hire some good coordinators and win some games next year

I want to agree with you but what type of energy is a 65 year old guy really bringing. What’s left in his tank? If he’s not going to move from Rosenberg he’s not really going to invest in the community? All he’s going to do is  collect this pay check for 4 years and then retire off to the sunset

Angleton has just a few more players than Alvin. Teykl kind of reminds me of one of the characters off the movie “Coneheads”

No doubt Angleton has better kids, but a sound fundamental coach that can teach kids to block the right person and line up right can make a bad team relatively competitive.  I dont think Alvin will ever be a power house in football because the ethnicity in Alvin is a huge factor but they do have some good hard nose blue collar kids that can easily go 5-5 and slip into the playoffs every other year.

    • It’s actually 2, 3 or 4 cents a mile, not 30 cents. It’s still funny. You EV drivers have to pay your equivalent gasoline tax just as if you drove a gasoline powered vehicle.  The current proposal is to have an electronic device placed on your car to track mileage. Surely that can’t be GPS because that would surely violate the Fourth Amendment. The state would literally know every location that your vehicle ever traveled. The other proposed option would be to take a photograph of your odometer and send that in. I can see a new cottage industry in odometer resetting devices or a quick disconnect where you can turn it on or off at will.

    • Unfortunately, his polling is down as of this past weekend. Polls are fickle, and there's plenty more time, but I am skeptical. Just like I really felt conviction was eminent even though the case should never been brought to trial.
    • Sorry. It was 700#, hence the question mark above.
