How would you handle this?

The scoring at a district track meet is incorrectly tallied.  A school is given the first place points for a event they did not finish in.  The trophies are given out.  After returning home the coach for #2 team has the proper ribbons and realizes that there has been an error.  The District chair is notified and yes there has been an error and #2 should be #1.

You need to see that your runnerup trophy gets traded for that District Champion Trophy.  Our district had alot of total point mistakes as well, but i dont think any effected to total places
