Basketball Tournament in April

BH85

Recommended Posts

PrimeTime Sports is putting on a tournament in Port Arthur on April 14/15.  Just checking to see if any teams in area are going.

We've competed in a few of their Houston tournaments over the year, but wanted to go East for 1.

PrimeTime is very good. The part I like about it the most is that it is grade based which for girls is good because AAU uses Jan 1st as birthdate.  This way you can play against teams of your grade.  We have played teams that were made up of players from 8 different middle schools and had over 100 girls try out and we have played teams that came strictly from one area.  You still never know the number of teams and quality of teams that will be there.  There is also one in Willis on that date that will have some good teams in it.  We are in one in Stafford this weekend that has 12 in our age bracket.  There usually is some AAU teams and overall the quality is a step below good AAU tournaments.

Ditto to BH85.  Primetime runs quality tournaments, organized and usually stay on schedule.  You just never know for sure what kind of team you will face, but that isn't all bad.  They DO reserve the right to combine age groups, but generally put some thought into it first.

My only knock to BB tournaments in general (not including Little Dribblers) is that they or notorious for not sharing who is entered, how many teams etc. until about 3 days prior to the tournament.  In the softball world, my daughters other sport, tounament directors post "who's in"  on eteams.com and generally keep everyone in the loop on what's happening.  With BB, we are always calling and trying to pry info out of them...Who's in? Is it gonna make, etc?  Sometimes you find yourself with a tournament that either has weak competition, few teams or maybe doesn't make at all with no time left to get into another that same weekend.  Not trying to disuade anyone from going primetime, another level, etc, but you need to stay in communication with the TD, they won't come to you.

Primetime runs good tournaments.  The thing with basketball tournaments is that you have two schools of thought debating on entering a particular tournament.#1 you will have teams that will wait until the last minute to see if its' worth their time to enter a tourney depending on the quality of teams entered.

Then on the flip side (#2), you have weaker teams who may not want to play the "big dogs"  just yet. Sometimes you can't see your weaknesses until you play someone better than you are.

    • No chance in hell that this pos is found guilty.
    • After his silly conviction, President Trump has raised over 200 Million dollars!  The people are seeing through it!  Excellent!
    • Let’s see if joe biden’s words about no one is above the law, made after the rigged trial of President Trump, rings true with his po💩son.  Hopefully, but I’m not going to hold my breath, they put the sorry sob in prison.
    • I liked his no bull crap attitude. He was a man of very few words. Extremely strong and freaky athletic!!! As close as possible to being the best offensive lineman to ever play the game. I hope his family finds peace without him!!! RIP #73
    • Chester, a small town in NE Tyler County.  A town that is seeing growth with the addition of a national chain store and a new school being built.  If you travel 287 toward Dallas from the Golden Triangle you have probably passed through Chester.  Things tend to stay pretty consistent and it is your typical small town.   A trip to state is the buzz around town, and the talk before church services begin on Sunday.  This year’s graduating class will number 11.  We don’t have a radio station that covers the Yellowjackets.  We are never a lead story on any of the news stations that broadcast to our community. With all that said, there is a closeness and sense of pride in our community.  Every community rallies behind their kids as they progress into the playoffs.  We are proud of our boys as they have represented our community well and with class. We invite you to follow our boys as they go to state.  We welcome the greater SETX communities as honorary Yellowjackets.  Tune in, watch live or come to Round Rock personally and join us in supporting the Chester Yellowjackets.  Go ‘Jackets!!! ⚾️💜💛⚾️🟣🟡⚾️💜💛⚾️
