I'm not much impressed with the idea of no 1st or 2nd place awards, but instead everyone gets a trophy for participation. Accolades are for winners. Trophies are for champions. BUT...

From what I can Google it seems that KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) Northeast is a charter school in Houston. They opened the school in 2013 with only a Freshman class. Then added a class each following year until they now as of this year have for the first time a full set of four classes.

I can't verify this but it's possible their football team has never won a game. I gather that last year they only played five games. It's not really surprising that this coming game was scheduled to be played at WOS. When I looked at the video of one of their games I couldn't tell if they even had any bleachers for the fans to sit in at their field. But yes, it turned out that they did but only apparently on one side of the field.

And yet this is the school that was willing to play WOS. So many other schools with long established football programs wouldn't do it but these guys would. Things have been said about some of those other schools for declining to play WOS. Critical things. But who would have criticized KIPP for not wanting to put themselves in a game like this.

I kept thinking about the American soldier awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism in combat. The highest decoration for bravery we have. One of the criteria for that award is that it be such an act of bravery that the soldier could not justly be criticized if he hadn't done it.

I usually don't think much of trophies for participation but in this case I would enjoy seeing KIPP get a trophy of respect for stepping up and agreeing to play WOS.

    • No chance in hell that this pos is found guilty.
    • After his silly conviction, President Trump has raised over 200 Million dollars!  The people are seeing through it!  Excellent!
    • Let’s see if joe biden’s words about no one is above the law, made after the rigged trial of President Trump, rings true with his po💩son.  Hopefully, but I’m not going to hold my breath, they put the sorry sob in prison.
    • I liked his no bull crap attitude. He was a man of very few words. Extremely strong and freaky athletic!!! As close as possible to being the best offensive lineman to ever play the game. I hope his family finds peace without him!!! RIP #73
    • Chester, a small town in NE Tyler County.  A town that is seeing growth with the addition of a national chain store and a new school being built.  If you travel 287 toward Dallas from the Golden Triangle you have probably passed through Chester.  Things tend to stay pretty consistent and it is your typical small town.   A trip to state is the buzz around town, and the talk before church services begin on Sunday.  This year’s graduating class will number 11.  We don’t have a radio station that covers the Yellowjackets.  We are never a lead story on any of the news stations that broadcast to our community. With all that said, there is a closeness and sense of pride in our community.  Every community rallies behind their kids as they progress into the playoffs.  We are proud of our boys as they have represented our community well and with class. We invite you to follow our boys as they go to state.  We welcome the greater SETX communities as honorary Yellowjackets.  Tune in, watch live or come to Round Rock personally and join us in supporting the Chester Yellowjackets.  Go ‘Jackets!!! ⚾️💜💛⚾️🟣🟡⚾️💜💛⚾️
