The game is about scoring goals and this is well understood.  Let's not forget that there are some outstanding kids who play defense because they like it.  Just like the squeaky wheel gets the grease, the ones who score goals get the press.  Oh, there usually is the mention of the goalie too. One day the boys will look back and read about their past.  It's a shame that they will only see the names of the goal scorers.  I understand, you can't mention everybody.  Well at least consider the seniors.

Anyone have score and info on the Kelly game yesterday?

My 2 cents. The game in Baytown last night was a thriller. I think what I saw was a Nederland team believing in each other. There was intensity throughout the contest. Make no mistake, the team from Baytown was pretty darn good. The type of team we will need to beat when district ends (I know we've only just begun). Best I 've seen Vidrine this year - simply awesome performance by all!

Has Kelly already played their game and does anyone have a score?

A team is not judged just on their coaches ability to field a winner. Team discipline also plays a part. From what I witnessed they have some work to do. I don't care to knock a single coach as I know some of what's involved. I plain and simply call um like I see um. So WTB, get your story straight especially if you weren't at the contest.

NED and Lumberton tie at zero. At least I had the zero right. Proud of the way black and gold played the game as Lumberton seemed to gripe to dang much even between themselves. Starts at the top and I don't care what you say. Keeper on both sides were good, as were defenses. Don't know about shots (#s) on goal. Pity we don't see them again in district.

Sticking with my original prediction for tomorrow->NED stops Lumberton in their tracks 3 - zip.

(McWIK7), the goalie for Vidor was impressive. #'s 9, 10, & 11 for Nederland do an excellent job of protecting the back. Won't be many goals scored on this trio. It was nice to see the support (fans) from the Vidor side last night. Good to see #6 back in action for NED.

I guess having a comment means I am laying into coach? I very much respect coach. I will try not to make any more negetive comments. I just want to see us win. Thought nederland came out very strong today against KW. The 1st 20 minutes were a joy to watch. Everybody playing defense and excellent passing. Saw some passion. Now all we need to do is sustain it. I haven't seen the score posted so I will -> 1-1

I too thought we played a good game against lumberton. I thought we had the better team. I have a feeling today will be a better day. Go dogs maybe "so long" wasn't the right choice of words.

Didn't mean to start such a storm. I thought the forum was a chance for folks like me who really do not understand all of the aspects of the game to voice an opinion. I certainly did not mean for you to take it so personal. The fans (for the most part) really do support the kids and the coaches. My post was mainly questions not an attack. Would you rather we not talk about anything? Just an observer who gives a hoot and wanted to ask a few questions. I was fully aware I was out on a limb since the games have just started but after seeing the same things for so long, I was just curious. Do not hammer me for a few questions and comments. Maybe put that energy into generating a consistent outing.

I know its early and I do not wish to be critical. I am glad that nederland is in tournaments against the houston area teams. I believe playing the better teams will make us stronger in the long run. why are we not getting shots on goal? Why do we have only one forward? This group of boys has a pretty good core of athletes so is there a strategy in place that I do not see? Are our defenders not good enough so that the outside mids don't have to return to defend but instead be more involved in shooting at the opponents goal? I'm going to take a deep breath and believe that coach B will figure out what is best for our team. I am no soccer wizard by any means but I don't care if you have the best defense in the world, if you can't kick the ball towards the opponents goal, forget about it. ???
