  1. The weather is going to be a factor, but the refs can also be a factor. Who is going to call this game?
  2. i agree completely with Bon_Mot on this one
  3. man its been a long time, business has taken me away from my soccer fix... this should be a great game! where is the game being played?
  4. All soccer players understand how important your shoes are...what is your favorite shoe??? My favorite all time pair was the Diadora Baggio...neon yellow diadora on black kangaroo with visable kevlar in the sole, yes they were gaudy but I was playing college ball at the time and man they stood out, compared to todays shoes they would have looked plain!!!
  5. YES SOME FORMATION TALK!!! The 4-4-2 is in my opinion the jack of all trades formation... how you train on the left side you can mirror that to the right side you have even balance with a flat back 4 or with the swepper stopper roles you can have tremendous counter attack options with the 4-4-2 defensively you can adjust to almost any style of play the 4-4-2 requires strong midfield play with outside mids making strong runs mids must be able to cross the ball in the attacking third!!! defenders must have good communication, knowing when to attack and when to give space fowards must be able work together and know their spacing rules and roles just like all formations, the 4-4-2 has its weak spots...I just think for the high school player it is the easiest to learn on a side note---the US used a 4-5-1 in this world cup with McBride flying solo up front and we all know how well that worked out
  6. yes, i agree everybody knew him and yes he was good, he knew the game and knew how to teach, my point is that if one or two main guys leave and the league goes down then they did not do the best job they could. It is one thing to teach kids the game, it is also mandatory to teach the teachers ..."give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach him how to fish feed him for a lifetime."
  7. Bryce is a good player, sometimes his speed gets the best of him and his touch is lost because of that, but you are right he is fun to watch
  8. I dont think Jorge leaving or staying has anything to do with the eb and flow of boys soccer soccer in south east texas...If two people can impact that many boys, then US Soccer should have picked them up and not Houston!!!
  9. these are in no order!!! Sandell, Bledsoe, Smith, Fontana, Wedel
  10. I hope the coaches and the players understand how much braging rights go along with showing well at the showcase tournament...should be a GREAT weekend!!!
  11. even though i have not had chance to see Kirby play yet, with such high praises coming from a goalie and the fact he has been called up...he sounds pretty darn good to me! I cant wait to watch him play. what year is he?
  12. WAY TO EARLY!!! but i will comment anyway...the reservation has put out some quality players over the past few years and Nederland, lets face it is a soccer machine...kelly and wb are just as capable of claiming the best player in setx but once again, way to early to tell...which is why I cant wait for Nederlands showcase tourny!!! Is there going to be a striker that goes on a scoring spree, is there going to be a goalie that turns into the great wall of china, what about a center mid that owns the field and plays it like a god in the midst of mere mortals!!! ok ok im calm now...
  13. here is my top 10... 1. WB 2. Kelly 3. Nederland 4. PNG 5. LCM 6. Lumberton 7. Central 8. Vidor 9. Silsbee 10. HJ
  14. Come on guys and gals, ex players, parents, club teams, etc etc....we have our own forum again!!! Its just a handful of us on here --- smitty, pirate, bonmot, lcm21, lhssoccer. We need to get more talkers on here!!!
  15. Hey LCM21 I heard through the grapevine the Marvelous Driver is a goalie for the boys side. I thought he was a football guy?
  16. LHSPLAYA Hopefully for you, your Coach will show you more class than you showed him...by the way, next time show some class on here and dont steal someone elses signature
  17. Thank you for our own forum again. I wish I had some pithy comments to make or an insightfull poll to send out, but all I have is a simple "Thank You."
  18. The problem I have with is the "interim" part...Gulati needs to go ahead and pull the trigger make Bradley his final choice
  19. ok, here are my thoughts on the not yet hired Kliny...wonderful career as a player. compared to Arena who only had ONE cap  Arena had success with the US for 8 years but the shambles that was WC2006 was a huge reminder of (in my opinion) a massive ego and lack of ability to make wise choices in player picks and game tactics...example you say---He went for the tie in my opinion with Italy, I know I know we played well but he left possible subs on the bench and a tie meant (and he knew this) that our future was even more in the hands of another team. He should have done everything he could of to get that win...what about in 2002 against Portugal sure we won but it was closer than people want to remember--here is what I remember Jeff Agoos (who played for Arena in college) had an own goal and played poorly most of the game. Arena chooses to keep him in and continued to start him the rest of the tourney (if memory serves me). Wow that was soapbox rant…point is he has poor evaluation of talent. Klinsman was hounded by the German media for several issues , probably the biggest was staying in the US and not starting Kahn. Not starting Kahn seemed to work out ok. Bon_Mot has a point with the dream run of the German team in 2006 in that really is Klinsmans resume…but im excited to see what he brings to the table and see who thinks our best 11 are…
