  1. I wanted to let a few days pass before I talked to yall again. I’ve seen the last three years how it hurts for the season to end with a loss. But you have to understand, if you are a good team, it is most likely you will finish your season with a loss. Only one team per division will end the season with a win. To put it in perspective, you’ve seen us play, our seniors have made it to the playoffs twice now. This is the first year that we have won a playoff game. Our seniors have no district championships to their credit. It is a hard cruel world. Possibly, in a few years, our kids will more admire your district championships more than that win. It always sounds better to be the champions of something instead of qualifier for something else. I got the pleasure of shaking #6’s hand after the game. He really played well and was heartbroken. As I looked in his eyes, it made me a little sad. I know that look will be on my son’s face within the next few weeks. Sooner or later, the end will come. I don’t think the look is about the loss. But, realizing the end of high school football has come. What I want to congratulate you on is not so much your district championships; it is the character of your players. Both of my sons said that Evadale was the classiest team they have ever played. A team like that reflects highly on the coaches, parents and fans. I admire the atmosphere of your town even though I’ve never been there. All of Evadale, have a great thanksgiving and know that you have my respect. Regards, Rab
  2. I'll probably say more later about the game. But, off top of my head, late at night, my son told me that Evadale was classiest team he has ever played. That moniker and a few district championships is something to be very proud of.
  3. Honestly, I wish Evadale good luck tonight. I hope for few if any mistakes by either team. If every kid on the field gives there all, then it becomes much easier to end the year for one of us.
  4. Anybody else listening to the Maud / Grapeland game? Maud is sounding tough. It really doesn't matter which one of us wins our game, next week one of us have to go through one of them.
  5. BigMo, I think all the teams plan a little over a week ahead. There is no disrespect to their current opponent. Logistics take a little while to work out. That fact makes losing all the worse. I'd bet Evadale coaches have informally talked to both Grapeland and Maud coaches about possibilities for next weeks game. There aint nuthing wrong with that.
  6. I have a few of our players over tonight for a high carb supper; My reward is a debreif about the game. To a man they are impressed with Evadale. They think they can win, as they should, but know they will have to play their best to do so. It is going to be a heck of a game. 24:30 till kick off. I cant wait!!!
  7. I am not trying to smack talk but... We have four that have started at their positions since their freshman year. 3 of them are returning All Staters on one poll or another. Our team has 13 Seniors on it this year. If there is ever going to be our year, this is it. Don't base your opinion of us on our record, this year has been horrible for us as far as injuries go. It has been terrible. But, most of them are back. We are much closer to the team that had Groveton down 36-0 in the first half as to the team that beat Bartlett by a little. If you go back through our schedule, you can see the improvement. That improvement is largely based on the players we got back. It might not be a good sign for next year. But, I will deal with next year when it comes.
  8. Here you go my new friend, 72 is a guy you must take care of.
  9. We are from no mans land. Not setex, not from centex, not from etex. Nobody wants to cover us on the web. 'cept the state wide board...
