Its hard for WOS to bring in the second and third string considering we dont really have a second and third string.

When it comes to teaching and football, teaching SHOULD rank higher. However you can whine all you want about the salaries but right or wrong your fighting a losing battle. Because here in Texas we are High School Football. Besides how many people visit a forum year round to talk about teaching.

I think Dayton is way underestimated by the current teams in the new district. Before they joined this district to be honest it was really only about PNG, Nederland, Ozen and Central when talking about the playoffs in recent years. Vidor is the only other team that would have a chance. But Central and PNG arent consistent and have off years more often than others and Ozen plays less than their talent level. Nederland really is the only school that in the last 15 years has been pretty consistent. So Dayton definately has a chance at making the playoffs.

How far did they get before the delay?

maybe the coaches should quit worrying about not playing the players both ways. And just play them where they need them. WOS was successful in 4A with players going both ways. About their last 4 or 5 years in 4A they usually only dressed about 25 varsity players with alot playing both ways. It was tough on them but they still competed. They made it to the state championshipwith players going both ways.

You say losing side but dont expect a losing season, WOS has never had a losing season in their existence.

Just A few phrases and key things to look out for when reading posts that may tip you off on how much this person really knows. 1. Continually refers to Dave Campbells magazine as a source for information. 2. Determines a teams strength by whether or not it made the playoffs. We all know that too many teams make the playoffs as it is and now even more for 5A. Some larger districts dont apply. We all get tired of hearing so and so is a tough team cuz they made the playoffs. yet they had a 5 and 5 record. 3. Anybody who thinks a team will be great because they have athletes. It takes more than just "Athletes" to build a strong program. Just look at Ozen they have more college signees than any school in the area almost every year yet they cant find themselves past the first round in the playoffs very often. 4. Well our freshman and JV teams never lost a game so watch out. This is the funniest argument that somebody always seems to use. Different schools use lower level teams in different ways. Feel free to add to the list I left a few out there

OR Central-would have barely made playoffs if they had played a whole schedule lastyear. UR Vidor-wont make the playoffs but they play hard and usually play at a level above their talent level. I can remember years where WOS would dominate all their games but would barely beat Vidor. However they usually played vidor early in the season and WOS usually doesnt get their chain gang defense going till atleast halfway. Underestimated WOS defense. Chaing Gang should be back along with size which has been missing for a while. Nederlands Offense. Mosely is a heck of a player. He didnt play when WOS beat Ned. IM a WOS fan so i still say WOS would have won but it definately would have been a different game. I excluded BH because I havent seen them in person but they look good on paper but that doesnt mean anything on fridays. Too many people are trying to judge WOS and BH from what they read and from what they hear on forums. Alot of which comes from people who obviously dont know as much about high school football as they think

First if you read my post you would know that I think earl is a great DB and that he will be better than Deon because he is stronger and tougher and probably a smarter defensive player. Second I am A WO-S fan and was at both state championship games even though I was only 1 and 2 years old. Third Im just saying that its not possible to rank high school athletes in a national poll.

It has nothing to do with being a rivaly, its just two non playoff teams trying to get some hype for a game that either could actually win knowing they will probably lose most of their district games. although i dont see vidor as such a week team they are just in a tough district. Lumberton however is a different story. Someday maybe but not this year.

Its kinda funny how yall keep talking about people being ranked in the nation. Its impossible to have high school players accurately ranked in a national ranking. How are you gonna rank somebody who played half the season against teams like HJ,HF or orangefield. With that being said i think earl is a heck of a DB and honestly will be better at that position than beasely.

Anybody ever notice that most of the greatest coaches at any level usually have all girls as kids or no children at all. Kinda weird. Just thought Id throw that out there.

Not only does he keep his job but he gets paid a ton. Its unreal how he could possibly keep his job.

Ozen gets all the treatment in Beaumont. West Brook and Central get nothing and it will always be that way with Dr. Thomas running the district. If you left it up to the parents I guarantee they would rather have West Brook in its own school district. I say west of I-10 and eastex freeway would be nice. Too bad this could never happen.

How many WOS games did you watch to come up with your opinion that WOS would have lost 3 games. You cant make a comment like that if you only saw one or two games.

Well i went to west brook and my dad went to west orange so I have been going to those games since i was 10 months old and now that WOS is in 3a alot of the stadiums bother me cuz they have a capacity of like 5 people. Especially the smaller 3a schools. Although the anahuac game was good cuz you could practically hear everything the coaches said on the sidelines.

These are the first games of the season none of the teams wii be in top shape yet so a big blowout is doubtful.

Since you brought up Lincoln with all the talent but no discipline I was wondering if anyone else feels that way about Ozen, they always have way more college signees than every school in the area and plenty of athletes yet they struggle always to make it out of the first round in the playoffs. I dont know if its discipline, the coaching staff or both. What do yall think

Vidor might not be the strongest but they are a team that can spoil some teams' seasons with surprise wins.

WOS and Nederland isn't near as bad as Nederland & PNG but it was a pretty big rivalry cuz of contoversey surrounding one game.
