  1. Sterling has gone through eleven starters on the offensive line this year, only three are juniors. Miki returned in the second half of the Lee game, then missed the PAM game. I think Hayden didn't start until the Lee game but did play in the New Caney game. The O-line struggled in the PAM game because both Hayden and Miki were out and Clive got hurt during the first drive, leaving only two starters in the game, Ian and Michael at the tackles. Over the last couple of weeks the line has played well, giving Keagan time to pass.
  2. I think this year's Pasadena Memorial as a team is just a hair below Sterling. We played them last year, and got beat 41-7. They have struggled this year and Sterling has drastically improved. There are several common opponents, LaPorte, South Houston and Pasadena(scrimmage), and the point differentials are better for Sterling. I think West Brook wins by ten.
  3. West Brook has SOME very good athletes surrounded by good athletes, where North Shore has a LOT of very good athletes surrounded by good athletes. You have to remember that North Shore has over 4000 students in their high school, it is simple math. That being said, there are several players on WB that could start and star for NS. West Brook should be able to hang around for the first half or so, but they will eventually fall to the numbers of NS.
  4. You forgot Coach Evans between Pudgy and Edwards. The best thing that Hope did was to vastly improve the weight room. Each coach has their strengths and weaknesses, some implement good off season programs, some are good X's and O men, and some are motivators. A good staff has a mixture of these at the right positions (coordinators-X & O, position coaches-motivators). It all starts with the athletic ability of the players, and a good staff will mold a good team with any talent level.
  5. Watching Sterling play WB and NS back to back, I think WB will hang with NS until halftime. It should be like the WB-Sterling game, close early, and NS will just wear down WB. Sterling played a much better game against WB than they did NS, but NS takes advantage of every mistake their opponent makes. That will be the difference.
  6. Having watched both Lee and PAM play Sterling, I believe that both teams will have trouble scoring. PAM has more team speed, Lee seems to be the more physical of the two. It will come down to turnovers.
  7. I have seen both play, PAM vs Sterling and Channelview vs Lee, and I think that Memorial is the better team. I think that Memorial has an edge in athletic ability, but both teams seem to struggle offensively. The teams appear to have the same style of play, but Memorial is a little better in almost every phase. Could be a close game, but I think Memorial wins by two TD's.
  8. The lob passes kill me too. Sterling's offense drives down the field running the ball, using screen passes, get down to the twenty yard line and start the lob passes again. I have been told that the off. coordinator runs a high risk, high reward scheme, but I don't understand the lobs. The quarterback hates to throw them, he would rather use the conventional passes. Sterling has the talent to play with Westbrook this Saturday, but the coaches will have to do more than "draw plays in the sand".
  9. No defensive TDs, just some butt whipping. NS has a tremendous amount of talent, but Sterling's backs and receivers played timid. There were a lot of dropped passes and a few interceptions, some caused by receivers not going for the ball. Sterling has been handicapped by the coaching staff all year, they have been able to overcome it most of the time by the players effort, but that wasn't there tonight. If they play like this next week, it will be an easy win for WB.
  10. I'll be at the game, gotta scout Channelview for our Rangers. Lee plays a physical brand of football, they should be able to run the ball with some effectiveness tonight.
  11. Keagan is a tough kid, he said they were blitzing from the weak side and there wasn't anyone to pick them up. The PAM defense was the fastest we have seen, North Shore doesn't appear to have the same speed but are a lot bigger. If we can slow down the rush, big if, Keagan may have that little bit more time to hit the receivers. Haven't heard about the health of the line yet. We were playing, in some cases, third and fourth string linemen during the PAM game, I sincerely hope that we are able to get some linemen back. North Shore should be a measuring stick for a possible first round match up with Pearland.
  12. Minyard came from Jacksonville, I believe, with Coach Long, who only coached one year. The PAM game was closer than it should have been. Sterling started the game minus two starters on the offensive line, and lost their center early in the game. This kept them from using their power game, which would have been effective against the faster PAM defense. If they don't get these linemen back for the North Shore game, it will make for a VERY long night.
