  1. That is why there is a mad scramble to replace her or keep her off of the ballot. If the DNC thought she had the election in the bag, she would already be receiving their backing and nomination.
  2. Ouch, the back room dealings according to Klein….
  3. Never say never and I have no clue what’s up their sleeves but why would Bill and Hillary Clinton publicly endorsed Harris almost immediately? We could play some “what if” games. I think there is already a lot of rumbling about the DNC trying to cancel Harris which is going to really make quite a few Democrat supporters angry. Now toss in Clinton. Let’s say she accepts the nomination at the convention. How’s that going to look? She can say, I really wanted Harris but for the good of the Party, I will accept! Let’s see, previously failed presidential candidate, soon to be 77 year old W/F who “really wants Harris”, is going to bump the potential first B/F presidential nominee in history? After proclaiming support for Harris? Yeah, that will garner Black support. I reality it might be the nail in the coffin. But, we’ll see. Politics makes for strange bedfellows.
  4. Because he was confronted by a local police officer who made him go to a now or never mode.
  5. The Democrat who flipped sides and saved the Republicans (and eventually the Democrats) and the filibuster? Hmmmmm……. Maybe you’re handing an olive branch, right?
  6. Black support for Trump has increased to as much as 23% from such polls as The NY Times, CBS and Qinnipiac. That is significant. Those are hardly Republican leaning polls. Imagine the support for Trump or more likely the staying away from the polls by Black voters if the first B/F VP president is shunned, particularly in favor of a White candidate.
  7. Harris is in. Both Clintons have endorsed her.
  8. The article that I saw said that Biden endorsed Harris. Can it then be anyone other than Harris? I am not referring to legally.
  9. I was referring to a cover up as the conspiracy theorists. If there was a conspiracy then there has to be a cover up.
  10. Just say many deer hunters about Buck Fever.
  11. I would not argue with his statement however….. A couple of times he said that he was speculating. He drew no conclusions from his speculations, He also said, 9 out 10 times you would make that shot so there is in his estimation a 10% chance of failure. I think it’s a little more but okay. He is also likely talking about a person who is prone and has probably had time to get his natural point of aim. I don’t think the roof topper had that time. According to the mayor who spoke on camera, two officers attempted to get into the roof but couldn’t find easy access so they did what they should have done if mayor is correct. One stood in the shoulders of the other and grabbed onto the roof edge to pull himself up. As soon as his eyes cleared the roof edge (I always hated that), he saw the shooter who turned on him. The officer literally let go and fell off the roof and injured his ankle. The two officers immediately called for help. A few moments later shots were being fired. The mayor wasn’t there and was likely only reporting probably what his chief of police told him. Let’s speculate that the mayor was giving factual information which seems plausible. Two officers, possibly working a traffic detail, broke away from their assignment when people started yelling. Finding no easy access they tried to boost each other up onto the roof. I know on swat we would practice putting a 6 man team on the roof and back down with no ladder or anything to climb onto. The shooter was confronted with officers and getting them to back away, had to get down quickly and rush his shots. As a matter of fact that perhaps goes along with the video taken from the ground level cell phone where the guy is seen prone and looks to quickly get up and go back down. I think that really increases the odds of missing by more than 10% but like the guy in the video, it is speculation. So I don’t disagree with anything he said but there are several assumptions made. We know what assumptions do.
  12. That implies that there are only two options. Either it was a cover up or you are following the herd. That’s half (maybe even a majority) the problem with politics on both sides. You have to choose A or B in lockstep. How about people who just want to see what happens?
  13. I don’t know but I believe that before Trump arrived at the hospital, conspiracy theorists were probably already calling for a cover up and multiple shooters.
  14. That’s why I asked in my first paragraph, are the four votes going to stand firm to the point of firing the manager. A city manager’s job is only as secure as the next council meeting with a simple majority of votes. Most cities in our area have a city charter (basically a constitution) where the city manager approves all jobs except those such as city attorney, city judge, city secretary, etc. Those are hired and fired by the council. All other people are hired by the city manager. As soon as a simple majority of the city council doesn’t want one of the council hired persons, they can be terminated by a majority vote.
  15. The Dems are pushing hard for Biden to bail, sooner rather than later. Jill and Hunter Biden are pushing hard for him to stay. A tug of war between two people and 40 million people. 😎
  16. What is going on behind the scenes? Have the four who voted against the manager’s selection, going to stand firm even up to the point of firing the manager? What have they conveyed, if anything, about the desire to stay local? Maybe even have suggested that any selection other than local will be defeated? So it will come down to the manager going with the local candidate or doubling down and going outside. If outside, potentially in likelihood of order: 1. Kira Joy Hope. Deputy chief in Detroit so experience in a high crime city. Seems to have varied experiences (although at 25 years that should be expected). I actually thought that she would be the pick looking at her resumé. One strike either for or against her is a comment that she made, “I’m out with activists”. What does that mean? I listen to all sides or I side with certain groups or protesters? 2. Britta Steinbrenner. The way the news describes it, she “served” as a 35 year officer, supervisor and commander up to the rank of captain at LA County Sheriff’s Department. That sounds like she is retired and looking for a retirement gig to get out of California. Between the two and only going by the media accounts, I would think Hope. She is still young in her career at 25 years. I am guessing that most police in command positions shoot towards 35-40 years to get out. Steinbrenner is at that level now but certainly 40-45 years is within reason. I would have loved to sit in on interviews (although I don’t have a dog in the hunt since I don’t live in Beaumont) and be able to ask questions. Hope seems like she is in more of a position to intend to stay around for maybe 15 years. That makes it appear that she is more interested in a career than simply a retirement job. Having worked for chiefs in similar positions, appearances can be deceiving however. The one that may seem more to be looking for a retirement job might come in and be awesome and the one that seems to be furthering her career of might turn out to be terrible. I’ve seen both sides of that coin. You really can’t tell until the person takes over and installs his/her own system. I have worked for 6 chiefs and maybe 3 interim or acting chiefs in over 37 years. I have been from a graveyard shift patrol officer to a shift commander and have seen much of the inner workings. There is almost no way to read resumes and be really sure how a chief will actually perform. With all of that, my vote (not preference) is on Kira Joy Hope.
  17. There’s been a couple…. 😎 I have also responded no. 🤣 Now for the long answer. The 25A is basically an impeachment by other means. It’s faster and they don’t have to worry about justifying it. If the VP says that the president cannot serve, if a majority of the president’s cabinet agrees (8 of 15), he is removed and the VP immediately is the president. If the president responds that they are full of crap to the Speaker of the House and the Senate equivalent, he immediately resumes the office of the president. If the VP and cabinet meet again and again agree, the VP again becomes the president. In that case, as was your question, Congress has like 21 days to vote the president out of office by a 2/3 vote of both houses. If the vote fails or if not by the 21st day (I think), the president resumes the presidency and returns to office.
  18. Pun intended? 🤣
  19. On a side note that I just realized, he wants to limit Supreme Court justices to term limits which requires a constitutional amendment but never suggested term limits for Congress which is by simple vote.
  20. This video popped up on Youtube. I don’t watch television except some sport but see bits hit the Youtube analogs. The only thing about this video is after almost four years in office, Biden now wants drastic changes!! Then Megyn Kelly said, he can’t do that under separation of powers…. I agree Megyn 😎
  21. She is a likely example if the Peter Principle.
  22. I wasn’t going with or against anyone’s opinions, economics discussions, etc. The old proverb has some meaning though. When a butterfly flaps its wings, it can be felt around the World or something to that effect. A minuscule event could change history. There is probably an almost 100% chance that had Bush not raised taxes, Trump would have likely never even run for the presidency and almost certainly wouldn’t have been elected. The song Third Rock From The Sun from the 90s is an awesome example of the butterfly flapping its wings. Cause and effect or the chaos theory.
  23. I wasn’t talking about taxes.
