1. For those that didnt really read or those that did but didnt think it would make well it did. My daughters 12U team signed up and played there first double header on Wednesday and it went off with out a problem. It appears to be well run and is great to have an oppurtuinty for a select team to have a league. They pplay a double header game every wednesday. The first and second place team get an automatic birth to the PONY league nationals in Round Rock. This is the first time we have ever participated in a Pony League but the rules arent that much different then ASA or USFA. The game times are 90 minutes. This guy currentlly has some opening for 14U teams that want to play and will be doing another select League after this one wraps up.
2. After looking back at the final standings we actually tied for 9th in State. We are the BH Ballistix. The little team running around with the lime Green and black camo uniforms. All my girls are spilt up amongst league teams and play against each other during the season. We do come together on the weekends and play in tournaments though. We are deffiantlly going "A" ball next year no question about that. And will be holding tryouts in August if your interested. Hopefully when yall get together we can meet up and scrimmage or find a tournament around to get in together.
3. I have a dedicated group of parents and kids over here in Barbers Hill. I have been extremly fortunate with this team. These group of girls were selected as our second all-star team when they where 5 yrs old and have stayed together since then for the most part. I have coached them every since then and have added and dropped from year to year thru tryouts but I still have 7 of the original girls. We have been very sucessful from that first year up to and including this year. Last year as 7 yr olds in the State Tournament in Lake Jackson we tied for 8th out of 61 teams total. I would say that is pretty damn good myself. Considering we got knocked out by the second place team by one run in our second inning of ITB. And it has carried over to this year with the tournaments we have played in. We have a big "X" on our back and Im proud to say them girls have earned it thru hard work and sportsmanship. The issue we are having right now if you want to call it that is all the tournaments we play in we are the only "B" class team in the rest are "A" ball teams which does us some good by playing stronger competition. So far every tournament we have played in from August of this year we have placed either first or second in. Next year we are more then likely going to go "A" ball. I have several girls currentlly taking pitching lessons and one girl that is pitching in 10U league ball this year. So hopefully it works out for us. But if anything comes about over on the GT area for tournaments for 8U please let me know.
4. I am looking for any 8U teams in the GT area that play in tournaments. I have a team located out of BH and we play from Houston to Lake Jackson. I never see any teams from the GT area until the state tournament nor do I see any tournaments on eteamz for the GT area.
5. I recieved this email and just figured I would pass this on to everyone that might be interested. My name is Benny Gonzales, I'm the South East TX. Area Director with PONY Softball and I have started a Platinum Travel/Select Fast-Pitch Leagues on Wednesday night in Highlands. I would like to invite you or anybody that you know that has a Travel/Select Team to come out and play and this is only for the Travel/Select Team. The cost to play in the Travel/Select Leagues is $250.00 and the Leagues pay for Umpire and Scorekeeper. If you like to call me my number is 832-519-5390. I will also have some Rec.Fast-Pitch Tournament coming up this summer there will be no Travel/Select Team playing with the Rec.Tournament Leagues Teams and just so you know Barbers Hill Teams has played in PONY before to know more about PONY please go to are web site at www.pony.org.
6. But this can also go for the LL coaches around the communities and also the ones that volunter countless amount of time and energy for running different Leagues and associations. Those are also thankless jobs. Trust me Ive been doing it in BH for the past 7 or 8 years. And the same stuff I hear or read going on with the school and coaches and the same stuff that goes on the younger age groups as well. But my theroy is if you dont like it the pull your kid, move or you coach the damn thing. That normally shits them up.
7. Well that parent needs there as_ kicked plain and simple for doing something so stupid. Especially over a Basketball game. How much influence does a coach have over a basket ball game to begin with its five on five the round ball goes in the round hoop. the coach didnt loose the game hell he never made a shot. lol Ok but back on subject. Ive heard from different people on both sides of the spectrum and both make good points about why some should stay and some should leave. And I also know alot of these coaches personally. And alot of them are good guys that I would like see hang around and given a fresh start but also some of them need to go or be reassigned. Now its no secret that every High School HC/AD has a following of his own select coaches that he will bring with him or take with him. This is Texas high School football at its finest and Politics at its best. Some good ones will leave and some bad ones will stay and vise versa. All I can say is from what I have read about Coach Gage because I dont know him personally is I think he will make a good replacment for Price. And I believe he has evaluated the coaches and wants to keep the ones that best suit his agenda and plans. Now theres no doubt that some recomendations have been made to him about certain coaches. Either from school board or parents of the elite all-american players that BH is well known to have an over abundance of but cant produce div 1 players. But I think Gage would have the final say so in it unless the coach/teacher contract is up for the school. Then it would be a school board decision. And no matter what people say about the school board and how they shouldnt be involved. My dad taught me a valuable peice of information when I was younger. And thats dont bite the hand that feeds you.
8. Coach Price was one of the more well liked coaches when I played under him in the Skidmore years. I liked him also he has a great football mind. Now did I agree with everything he has done. Well no but who has. I think Coach Price was a great assest to BH and I'm sorry to see him go under these circumstances. He done the best he could with what he had to work with and succeded in all levels. But no matter who you are there isn't a AD/HC out there that will meet everyones expectations until you win State in every sport out there year after year. And so far I havent seen one of them yet. I like to wish Coach Price farewell and let him know he did and outstanding job during his tenure here at BH and that a school is going to be getting one hell of a coach in their near future and wish him luck.
9. no I dont wont her back either. I had enough of her when I was in school in the early 90's. And yes some of the stuff she did and the kids she hung around with would not have been tolerated in a bigger community. But Im just saying thats one of the possibilites that could happen. I know some people on the school board and employed by the school that want it to happen. But I think it will be a bad decision all the way around. But dont be surprise if you dont see her as a finalist.
10. I can tell you what the inner circle is looking for. I have heard it before. And it has nothing to do about football. I look for Penee Hall to come back as the AD\HC of the girls Basket Ball and for BH to just hire a head football coach who ever it is. The main reason she left in the first place is because she didn't get the AD job when Price got it. Certain people have daughters coming up that are good and successful basket ball players thru the junior high and little dribblers leagues. One group even won nationals. and they want their kids to have the best opportunity and coach to take them back and win state and she has deep roots here even with certain members on the school board. Just my opinion.
11. Dont forget about 8U either. I have a first year 8U team made up of Girls from Mont Belvieu with in BHSA that would love to play around the Beaumont area. I know a couple of years ago they use to host tournaments all the time off of College Street but I havent seen any for my age group. So id ya'll know of any please let me know. I also help coach a 12U team in Mont Belvieu that would be willing to come. If we can get both the 8u and 12U age group to make. You can contact me at [email protected]
12. 8U team out of Barbers Hill looking for tournaments in the Golden Triangle area. Please let me know of any coming up or were to look on the internet. We use to play often in Beaumont with my 11 year old daughter but hevent seen any tournaments listed on Eteamz for this area in a while.
13. Ok even though I am a BH grad I did go to both schools so this is a hard one for me. I predict that one of my favorite schools will win. ;D BH is down this year and Dayton has one hell of a ball club. I do think that Dayton is going to win but I dont think it will be a blow out. Or at least I hope not.
14. Please excuse FanMan he is from Huffman. And you know how they fill about us. By the way home come I havent seen anything about Huffamn? And what happened to ETBU site? And I'm not asking to be rude I was just wondering about Huffman?
15. Someone tell me something about them. I know they are young and this is their first year but they seem to be throwing up some pretty good points. Do they have a good offense and their defense just not up to par or do they post majority of their points in the late second half? Just curious.
