  1. If he did go to liberty I'm pretty sure his ex offensive line coach skidmore is there to help him out... but then again there is the money issue not sure how much Liberty has to offer considering they don't have a multi million dollar plant in the district
  2. The numbers on the fieldhouse at the end of Eagle Stadium are in need of an update. To the string of consecutive years as district track champion that began in 2002, Barbers Hill’s boys added 2009 Thursday night with a stirring finish to the District 19-4A track meet. Never mind that the Eagles had to share this, their eighth-straight, title with North Forest after both teams finished with 123 points. Eagles coach Dwayne Nunez sure doesn’t. “We’ll be happy with co-champs,†he said. “The kids really performed well. I was proud.†Since winning the 2008 meet, Nunez had to cope this season without some big point scorers who graduated from last year’s team, the addition of Dayton to the district and the consolidation of Forest Brook and North Shore that formed North Forest High. The speed of Dayton, which finished third with 104 points, and North Forest, teams that combined to win all three double-point relays, was a sight to see and something for the Eagles to overcome. Of course, it took a total team effort. “We knew it was going to be close,†Nunez said, “but I didn’t know if we were going to quite have enough. But when we came out of the 3,200 (Tuesday night) and we were in first place, I thought we had a chance.†Barbers Hill scored seven points in the 3,200 meters – a third by Tim Ramsey and a sixth-place finish by freshman Manuel Munoz – to move ahead of Dayton 44-42 at the end of the meet’s first day. Munoz was one of two first-year performers for The Hill that scored a point each – junior Ethan Isaacks, who finished sixth in the 300 hurdles, was the other – in a meet where every point counted. “Those young guys that got a point here and there really helped us,†Nunez said. “We had a meeting Monday afternoon and went through every event where we thought we’d get points. After (Tuesday’s) prelims and 3,200, we met again Wednesday afternoon and they had an idea what we needed to do to win. “Then they went out and did it.†The Eagles started strong Thursday, taking third place in the 4x100-meter relay for 12 points and then scoring 16 more points in the next event, the 800 meters, where Kyle Brown, Luke Crain and Sean Evans finished second, third and fourth. “Getting third in the 4x100 was big and then to come in 2-3-4 in the 800, we were right in it and we battled hard all night.†Brown and Matthew Viverette led the Eagles’ scorers, with Brown adding a win in the 400 meters (50.78) and anchoring the fourth-place 4x400 relay that clinched the championship tie. Viverette qualified for regionals in three events, with third-place finishes in the triple jump, 4x100 relay and 300 hurdles. The Barbers Hill girls, led by runnerup finishes by Larissa Rios in the 3,200 and Jenna Silva in the 400 meters, wound up in third place, behind Kingwood Park and C.E. King. The Crosby girls finished fifth while the Crosby boys, led by Chance Casey’s win in the 300 hurdles and seconds in the 110 hurdles and high jump, finished fourth. Goose Creek Memorial finished seventh in the girls’ standings and its boys were eighth.
  3. MONT BELIVEU – The determination of who would win the boys division at District 19-4A came down to the last race, the boys 1600 meter relay. And with the run of their lives, Barbers Hill’s Kyle Brown, Kevin Johnson, Carter Smith and Jordan Stelly ran a time of 3:26.77 to finish fourth place to keep even with North Forest for first place overall. “That was their best time of the year,†Eagle coach Dwayne Nunez said. “They ran six seconds faster than any other time this year.†BH’s Brown also finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.78 seconds, and second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:07.16. Smith also helped the Eagles’ 400-meter relay team place third with a time of 43.48 seconds, and placed third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.51 seconds. All in all, Barbers Hill had 10 total advances to regionals while North Forest finished with seven. The big hype of the day was the 110 and 300 meter hurdles match-up between Dayton’s Cameron LaCour and Crosby’s Chance Casey. In the 110 hurdles, LaCour toped Case’s time of 14.57 seconds, with a first place time of 14.50 seconds. In the 300 hurdles, however, Casey came back with a first-place time of 38.04, comparing to LaCour’s 38.77 second-place finish. Both of the runners are expected to make it to the state meet, as they have posted some of the fastest times in the state. In the girls division, Kingwood Park dominated the field, winning the meet by 19 points. BH’s Lady Eagles fought hard to finish third place overall. Larissa Rios finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.88 for the Lady Eagles. Also Jenna Silva place second in the 400 meter dash, with a time of 1:02.72 to help the Lady Eagles in points. “Overal,l I am extremely pleased with our performance,†said Nunez. “We did better then expected.†The Eagles, along with all the other qualifiers, will race next in the regional track meet on May 1-2 in Huntsville.
  4. After the 3200 on tuesday its Bh 44 Dayton 42 North Forest 38 they didnt add this up in the paper
  5. MONT BELVIEU – Chance Casey is back. And he’s ready for a Thursday night hurdles showdown with Dayton’s Cameron LaCour. “He’s doing real good,†Crosby track coach Marty Murr said midway through Tuesday’s action at the District 19-4A track meet at Barbers Hill. “His injury’s been healed. Of course, he worked on it.†Casey, who signed a football scholarship with Baylor University, missed the final part of the fall grid season with a hip injury and his rehabilitation was slow and measured. The defending Class 4A state champion in both the high and intermediate hurdles wasn’t at full strength early this track season. But he cleared 6-4 in the high jump during Tuesday’s field events, enough to finish second on misses to teammate A.J. Anderson, who also cleared 6-4. “Chance has been running hurdles the last couple of weeks and he’s been as fast as he ran at state last year,†Murr said. “Of course, that LaCour kid from Dayton, he’s a beast, too.†LaCour was the Class 5A silver medalist in the 110-meter high hurdles, when he ran for Atascocita. “Thursday, LaCour and Chance in the 110s, ought to be a great race,†Murr said. “It ought to be phenomenal.†The District 19-4A track meet, after wrapping up Tuesday evening with the 3,200-meter run and running preliminaries, wraps up Thursday with running finals set for a 5 p.m. start at Barbers Hill. LaCour finished sixth in Tuesday’s high jump, clearing 5-10, and he came back for a third in the long jump. His Dayton team led the boys’ competition after the field events, scoring 42 points to 38 for second-place North Forest. Barbers Hill was third with 37 points and Crosby fourth at 26. Goose Creek Memorial scored four field event points, tied for seventh with Galena Park. Dayton’s girls had even a bigger lead in their division, 48-37 over Kingwood Park. C.E. King was third at 28, with Barbers Hill at 27 in fourth and Crosby fifth at 23. Goose Creek Memorial’s girls were seventh with six points. Besides scoring 16 points with the 1-2 high jump finish, Crosby got a second-place in the shot put from Braelon Green. Dayton had a pair of winners in the boys’ field events, with John-Luke Lambright winning the pole vault at 12-6 and Tony Hill throwing 47-1-3/4 to take the shot put. Barbers Hill’s Jeremy Neff won the discus with a 147-10 effort and got third-place finishes from Matthew Viverette in the triple jump, Jeremy Rodriguez in the shot put and Jessie Morton in the pole vault. For the Dayton girls, Briana Sias won the high jump at 5-4, Hannah Bell won the long jump at 16-7 and Bria Emanuel won the shot put at 33-7. Also, Bell finished second in the triple jump and Emanuel was second in the discus. 8. Kevin Johnson didn’t grow up dreaming of running track in college, but the 6-foot-4, 175-pound Barbers Hill senior doesn’t see that as a hurdle. In fact, Johnson signed scholarship papers Monday that will enable him to compete in the hurdles next year for the University of Houston. “I was a freshman when coach said ‘Get your spikes, you’re going to be hurdling,’†Johnson recalled. “He put me in my freshman year and I got sixth at the JV meet. “The next year, I got bigger and faster and got fifth at the varsity meet in the 300 hurdles. Last year, I qualified for regionals in the 300s and got fourth in the 110s.†Maybe it was finishing second in the District 19-4A 300 hurdles to eventual state champion Chance Casey of Crosby that did it. But that was about the times priorities started to shift for Johnson, who has played safety and linebacker for the Barbers Hill football team. “I always thought of myself as a football player and track was what I did to get into shape to get ready for football,†he said. “I decided I could go farther in track, so I went to some (track) camps this summer. “The UH coaches liked my potential and they started calling me.†Two-time Olympian and former 100-meter world record holder Leroy Burrell heads up Houston’s storied track program that has produced 20 Olympic tracksters in all, including long jumper Carl Lewis. “It’s going to be pretty good,†Johnson said. “I really like the program there. They are proven winners indoors and outdoors. “They make their athletes work pretty hard. They don’t sell them short on that.â€
  9. Does anyone know if he signed anywhere on NLI day?
  10. the answer is simple money a volleyball coach doesnt get paid the big bucks that head football coaches do its the same with most every other sport their head coaches arent paid as much as head football coaches So the districts decide well lets pay the football coach an extra 30 grand a year and let him be AD instead of lets spend more than 50 grand on a AD
