Actually if the teams rosters have been frozen, like most are by the time you get to the State and National Tournaments, a player cannot drop down a level to play. Our roster was frozen in April and shortly after we had a kid quit. We found a replacement that had been playing on an elite team that had also had their roster frozen and Nations would not allow him to play with us.

Congratulations to the Hooks for winning the Nations 10U Select State Championship Tournament this weekend. This team started the season at 5-10 but over the last several weeks have grew into a great baseball team and have posted a record of 20-4 and a couple of tournament championships to prove it. Great job guys! I understand your points, and to be honest, I do not know who you could take off in order to put Buna on. Every team on the list can make a very legitimate arguement on why they should stay. There are a couple of schools on the list who's history I am not familiar with, so until I do some research I will not suggest that they should be taken off. Now, first of all I agree that the level of competition and the way the game is played has changed drastically since integration, but if integration is going to be a factor in the process then perhaps there should be two totally different list. It is hard to say that one teams titles are more impressive than anothers just because of the era they played in.

I agree that Buna's program has been down for the past several years, but the fact is they have 7 State Titles which includes 4 in a row from 1955-1958 and then three more in a row from 1961-1963. I think they have not made a playoff appearance since either 03 or 04, but they did have a regional final appearance in 02. You have put together a very impressive list, but Buna should be deserving of at least a #10 ranking. The 7 titles also ties them with PA Lincoln for second most all time, only behind Snook's 10.

Buna is a small town located North of Evadale and South of Kirbyville. If you don't know who they are either, then you could say Buna is between Beaumont and Jasper, and if it helps you even furthurmore you can find the Neches River to the West & the Sabine to the East. They are home of the historic polka dot house and host the annual Redbud Festival the second Saturday of March. Buna is a 2a school represented by the colors blue and white and their mascot is a cougar. They are also the same team that you did not think could beat Trinity last week. We all know what happened there. Now that your daily Geography and History lessons are over, back to the topic. Orangefield might very well win this game, but Buna will keep it competitive.
