  1. Got his 100th and 101st hit today. Unbelievable. One of only 3 players in the Southland Conference to EVER get 100+ hits in a season. I was fortunate enough to spend a few summers with this kid, great kid, great family. Congratulations to Braeden and I know Martin has to have a perma-grin every time he gets to watch his son play.
  2. Check the "List of Local College Commits" to see who has signed and where. Not to mention the Ewing brothers who went to Arkansas and Southern Miss (both freshmen All-Americans), but are now both at Southern Miss. Jay Bruce was a first round draft pick 2 years ago. Kevin Angelle last year was drafted. Clayton Ehlert is at Texas A&M and doing well. I know there are others too. Point is, the talent level around here is as high if not higher than it ever has been.
  3. You have to be kidding. The players you named come from a few different years and half of them aren't even playing anymore. This year alone, there are numerous players from the area heading off to big time schools. I would say just the opposite, that this year's class has MORE talent than any in a long time.
  4. the "right" way to throw a weighted ball is straight into the trash can.
  5. In regards to the Ferguson kid, the fact that his college decision came down to Rice and Ole Miss should tell you all you need to know. His success in high school ball as well as summer ball is not the only reason he is one of the top players in the country. He has a huge upside and is very "projectible", a term that some who post on here may not be familiar with.
  6. For my money, I'd go watch Westbrook play as much as possible because they should light up the scoreboard with that lineup. Some other studs to watch are Rowell (LCM), Riley(Woodville), Campbell (BH), and Steinhagen (Kelly). Also, defensively Ferguson and Murphy can really flash the leather up the middle and form one of the best middle infield duos in the state.
  7. Is Zane a sophomore this year? I assume so since his stats are posted which i guess are from last year. If this is the case then he should have played in the All-Star game this past fall, because guys don't move on to new schools and then come back to play in the juco All-Star game. No big deal, I'm just a little confused on how old he is and when Lamar should "get on him".
  8. ehlert walked.....schneider singled...1st and 2nd, 1 out
  9. come on LCM!! keep fighting. why win the toss for a 1 gamer and then not start your best pitcher?
  10. I would also like to say Good Luck to ALL of the area schools in the playoffs this year. Lets show the rest of the state the caliber of baseball that this area has to offer.
  11. I think that both teams are better today from having played each other last night. I would love to see both teams bring a state title to Southeast Texas, and I feel like both a great shot at it. Bridge City is definitely NOT overrated and of the two teams i think they have a better chance to win state. If LCM can get past Brenham, they should be the favorites in 4A. Good Luck to both schools and I just hope i can make it to a few playoff games!!
  12. i too would have to go with murphy and ferguson. they're very good all around players and they seem to have that chemistry that all middle infielders need to have with each other. i look for these two to be the leaders on a potentially top 5A team next year.
  13. was the Schneider injury serious? it would be a shame to lose such a great player right before the playoffs (esp at SS).
  14. hmmmmmm. i think i was pretty close after all.
  15. First Post........I believe LCM wins and don't think it will be that close. Maybe a 8-2 game.
