  1. "umpires fault" we can only hope you are not serious Umpires don't cause 10 runs
  2. Congratulations Zach Kelly is going to have a formidable 1-2 with he and Fazio
  3. ok, I have to ask. If Lamar is overlooking KK and blowing it by not recruiting her, what other schools D-1 or otherwise are recruiting her? Seems like Coach Ancelot would be familiar with her capabilities
  4. Vidor is showing that they will be a strong factor in 22-4A this year. Congrats to Jesse and the Pirates
  5. Every team can have a bad game but the run difference here was startling. From a distant observation, this does not appear to bode well for the Dogs when they enter district and face LCM. PNG and Vidor.
  6. Congratulations to Brandon. 12 strikeouts is impressive at any level!
  7. I'm tellin yall, watch LCM's Johnson, he will be one of the best in the area this year
  8. Both Hart and Statum are great outfielders. LCM's Johnson has close to the speed of these two, equal arm, if not better and more power potential.
  9. I realize it is early and just scrimmages and the goal is to get your team ready for real games. But, I was surprised by the WB/Nederland and the HF/LCM scores. I expected Nederland and LCM to be stronger. Perhaps I'm not giving enough credit to the WB and HF squads. Going to be another interesting year.
  10. Leger is one of the best in the area and should be #1 next year when this year's outstanding senior crop graduate. Either he or Carnahan will be the best in that district this year.
  11. Congratulations Jake. All Southeast Texas is proud when our local products do well Keep us posted Eagle
  12. I don't understand why Nederland has not recently performed better in their district. I know it is one of the toughest in the state but they seem to have talent and depth according to these posts and others. They are home to a great Babe Ruth program. Not many are predicting them to finish in the top three this year. I don't want to minimize the talent at LCM, Port Neches, Vidor and the other schools but am I missing something?
  13. Kelly can be one of the best teams in the area particularly when Fazio is on the mound. Celeste is not a bad second pitcher. Folks need to watch the McDonald kid, all he does is get on base(often)
  14. Come on, Eaves is a good player but he is not currently even in the top half dozen SS's. Lycan, Lundy, Pitts, Gardiner, Bunner. Check back after this year when many of the proven seniors have graduated.
  15. well said Eagle. your comments and lists are usually fair despite your admitted bias. And yes, a lot of us wonder about Nederland's performance last year with the talent and Babe Ruth feeder program they have. If they don't improve, they are going to have a hard time in that district. Perhaps one of the best 4A districts in the state.
  16. Be realistic. Statum is a good player on the 3A level and perhaps will be an All SETX first team outfielder. He is simply not in the pitching class with Hales, Harrington and Fazio. If the OF combo was the best in the area which was this thread title, they should win that district. For this year even a playoff spot is questionable. When I see these type of posts, it occurs to me that one of two things has happened. Either the poster doesn't know the area talent that well or completely overlooks it for some self-serving purpose.
  17. Here's a bit of free advice which is the truth but difficult for some to follow. If you have a complaint about the selections and the player is related to you, resist the urge. If your kid is really that good, other people will notice and talk about him for you.
  18. Easy East Tx. Hicks is good but "by far" the best. That's bold talk. He has plenty of time to improve but last time I saw him play the foot speed was not at an elite level.
  19. I agree Gardiner should be in the group
  20. I have watched this list grow over the past month and there are a lot of good players now listed. To be ALL SETX, however, takes a really exceptional player who stands out above the other many talented players in the area. A few nominators such as Eagle 07 and Baseball 1996 have compiled a good, fair and comprehensive list. Frankly, many of these nominations are not realistic and reek of self-promotion. Take the pitcher position for example, you really have to examine a kids abilities to consider putting him up against Hales, Fazio and Harrington, all proven winners and D-1 signees. Seriously folks, there are not 10 kids from PNG or 6 or 7 kids from several 3A schools or 9 kids from Kelly who have a legitimate chance to be listed with the best. I don't mean to call anyone individually out or pick on school but that is just the way it is.
  21. With all due respect to 643DP, who might actually be serious with this inquiry, it is kind of silly. It smacks of an attempt to stir up an old controversy. Because the answer is that there is no comparison. The Sun Devils are clearly the top organization, by far. Dedicated facility and field, full-time coaching staff, play in top show case tournaments in the country, position by position the best players. It is where scouts go to get info on players. If you have what it takes and you want to maximize your future, get with this bunch. Jay Bruce--Minor League Player of the Year Murphy--U of H Ferguson--Old Miss Elhert--aTm Fazio--Rice commit Hales--aTm commit Cervanka--UT commit These are just a very few off top of my head. There are many others. Enough said. Move on to a productive topic.
