  1. Some of the issue is not just about being coverd but how it's covered.......Here is an example......This year in the PA news West Brook had beat PNG and the artical was about how PN-G 'lost' to West Brook (that is how it was written) and that's how it should have been........Last football season in the Beaumont Enterprise West Brook beat Memorial and the article was about how PAM 'lost' to West Brook. I had to close the paper because I thought it was the PA news..........Am I wrong but should it not have been written the other way around (how WB beat PAM) JMO!!
  2. somebody's put a new coat of paint on the 'dog house'............keep it up Dogs!!! how fun is this!!!
  3. My best friend in college took his 4a team to the state tournament last year.......new school opened in the same town and they gave him the job......right now he's in 2nd in the same district he was in last year......Some coaches just love to be challenged!!
  4. This is one of the worst arguments I've seen in a while........How many JV state championships have been won???? How many times has a JV team gone to the playoffs????? Neither one of them happen.........How many coaches actually care if your JV team is in the district lead???? Do you thank a coach is going to say............. you know what our varsity team went 2 and 25 this year but it was a productive year for us as a whole because the JV went 15 and 5.........All they want is for the in-between guys to get at-bats and play out in the field.......That's it!!! Ringers??? are we serious.......Coaches need their yungers to play.....That is the reason you have 'Sub' Varsity..........Why would you want to keep kids from getting better just cause they are left off a 'Sub' Varsity lineup card..........Heck, they are ALL SUBS!!
  5. Speaking as someone who has taken a spike or two turnning double play's in College........bring it on........it's just war paint!! Seariously......personal choice is fine but limiting players would be wrong.......I say stay metal.......the slide rule, called correctly, should limit but not do away with most injuries.........We colud get into 'spikes high' with this issue.
  6. what a bunch of cry babies from the Brook...........man........I would expect better from a team like that???
  7. Both sides, not just one, decided the change of schedule (im sure)...........flip flopping is done all over the state apon agreement from the rest of the district you are in..........
  8. those "schollies" in Juco are not thrown around as you may think..........11 a year(I think) to be given out and 9 of those are given to pitchers (some divided some full)......Full rides to position players are more rare and have to be erned by what you do as a freshman.............Coach givith.......Coach can takith away!!
  9. Cervenka is not Sterlings #1 in fact I think he has left the rotation, in district, do to control problems.......just like he had against PNG in about the 4th inning think he finished with 6 walkes in those aprox 4in........as far as the comments......... PNG took WB into extra innings....that doen't leave you much room to be talkin..................Good luck to both the Tribe and the Brook......I hope both end up being reps for our area in the playoffs!!!
  10. I'll kep in beeing fair also.......if it's 1 lose out of 20 district games........still doing something right..........
  11. What was the pitch count?? How did the kid react when he was asked "How do you feel".......none of this has been talked about.....We shouldn't assume a coach just say's your done cause i say so and that's final.........One coach makes a change and the other don't just means they got different info back from their pitchers and made their own choices......You guys think Bryant is still sitting around second guessing himself...NO.....He's focused on Tuesday!! I don't get the fact that the man has lost 1 district game in 43 try's and some are ready to hang him on one or two choices he's made...........Man's doin' somthin' right!!!
  12. It is a balk if the catcher doesn't stay in the catcher's box until the pitcher delivers the ball. If he were to step out of the catcher's box, before the pitcher delivers the ball, it would be called a catcher's balk. The runners would advance. This is almost never called but is a rule........... if the pitch was cought infront of the plate this has to be the case...........don't know i was not there
  13. Catastrophic Injuries in High School and College Baseball Players Barry P. Boden, MD*,, Robin Tacchetti, MS, PT and Fred O. Mueller, PhD From The Orthopaedic Center, Rockville, Maryland, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, North Carolina * Address correspondence to Barry P. Boden, MD, The Orthopaedic Center, 9711 Medical Center Drive, #201, Rockville, MD 20850 (e-mail: [email protected]). Background: There are few epidemiologic studies of catastrophic baseball injuries. Purpose: To develop a profile of catastrophic injuries in baseball players and to describe relevant risk factors. Study Design: Retrospective cohort study. Methods: The authors reviewed 41 incidents of baseball injuries reported to the National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research from 1982 until 2002. Results: There were an estimated 1.95 direct catastrophic injuries per year, or 0.43 injuries per 100,000 participants. The most common mechanisms of injury were a collision of fielders (9) or of a base runner and a fielder (8), a pitcher hit by a batted ball (14), and an athlete hit by a thrown ball (4). Catastrophic injuries included 23 severe head injuries, 8 cervical injuries, 3 cases of commotio cordis, and 2 cases each of a collapsed trachea and facial fractures. Three athletes sustained a severe head injury and facial fractures. Ten of the 41 injuries were fatalities. Conclusions: Suggestions for reducing catastrophic injuries in baseball include teaching proper techniques to avoid fielding and baserunning collisions, protecting the pitcher via a combination of screens and/or helmets with faceguards, continued surveillance and modifications of the bat and ball, eliminating headfirst slides, and continued analysis of chest protectors and automatic external defibrillators for commotio cordis. Key Words: baseball • head and neck injuries and if you are a catcher you don't count......i've never met a smart one yet........lol
  14. have to go with the injins
  15. Going aginst the rules of the game is not hustling, getting ejected is not huslting(talking as if your prowd of it), ever wonder who put you in that situation....!?! There's two ways to get there 1) Your third base coach hung you out to dry......or 2) You run through a stop sign......... Pros who get payed for what they do.....sure anything goes....I'm all for that..... If your paying your own insurance playing in an adult softball league, and your dumb enough to injure yourself or someone else, and risk being liable......that's your money...........untill then kids living off mommy and daddy should stay kids and have a chance to make it to the next level.......There is nothing worst then seeing it take place and parying your catcher get's up and is able to continue..........not just the game but the season........ so you few kids who want to play like adult's make sure mommy and daddy have the extra cash..............percing the lip coop!!
  16. ..........I'll take "this one counted" for $400 please.........lol
  17. do what you gota do to score a run!!!! Are you serious!!!........not only will you NOT score a run you'll be watching from the stands and if your coach has any guts you'll be watching for at least the next game...........There is no if he's here you can do this or you can do it just as long as you don't lower your shoulder...........If you run the catcher over your out and your dune for the night ....period......can't believe this is even a topic!!!
  18. Should not a person who gets paid for their job be held accountable by their employer only....yet parents and fans feel they should have a say...When is the last time 200 to 1000 people showed up to your job wating for you to make a small mistake (with no effect of overall outcome) just so they can say how terrible you are at what you do...........coaches get the same rap from parents all the time. I will agree on one point......In any job setting your always going to have people who can get all the job training in the world but it will never make them any better then what they are when it is time to perform...........It's Life
  19. I don't think Stone has any re-thinking to do.........he's yet to lose a district game. Im sure the IRON will be out in practice this week........better to have an off night and win then an off night and come up short...........go INDIANS!!!!!
  20. What a great group........Loved playing against you guys.....some of the best times i had as a player............Think I hit a ball of Martin that hasen't landed yet.......lol...........course he got us in the end!! Almost wish i could have seen you guys.....almost..lol.....
  21. I dont see anyone in the pic that looks like Steve Martin......anyone hear from ol Steve....Steve.......Steeeeeeeve.......Steeeeeeve......lol Congrats to Coach Young
  22. no......im sure there is someone who went 3 for 3 with a 2b and an RBI that will bump him out..........lol Probably from Lumberton......
  23. ill throw Todd Wallace's name in for hitting two HR in one game vs Sterling but three in a game wasn't good enough last week so this is probably for not!!......lol
