I totally agree in most cases. In this case, not so much. I was definitely wishing for this game as well as everyone else that are not from WOS. WOS fans would like to see this game, but they weren't wishing for it. It will be a good one, WOSgrad. The best team will win and who knows who'm the best is. In due time!

Well... I would put it like this; WOS had to cave in because they couldn't find a week 3 game. With me saying this, that does not mean i just absolutely think Newton will win. I do think it will be a great game. Either team can win this game.

Newton may need two bye weeks after this schedule.

Newton now has two powerhouse 4A programs on their schedule for next season. Both Gilmer and West Orange Stark will be great games for Newton. I guess all of this smack talk will be determined once and for all next season.

Foster is not getting recruited and all of these division 1 offers for QB. He is getting the offers to play CB. So, Newton has two SEC caliber corner-backs on their defense.

I have seen you post about Newton players not panning out and not having playing time at the next level. After you state that, you then refer to the Elam kid every time? Newton has not sent very many to a power 5 school in the past years. You have Roney Elam, Kevin Shorter and DJ Dean that has went to a power 5 program in the past 10 years. Kevin Shorter had a career ending injury his senior year of high school and never got the chance to play. DJ Dean started two out of his four seasons at the University of Arkansas and started in two bowl games. Roney Elam has not had a lot of playing time, but he still has 2 more season left. What's the big deal? Why only bash him? Why do you say that Newton's talent does not translate to the division 1 level when there has only been 3 players in the past 10 years? haha. Now that Newton has 5 players returning with division 1 offers before their senior season even starts and 4 of those players are in the top of the state in rankings, you just hate seeing that and need to state how the big prospect Elam hasn't played much. You talk down on the Elam kid and base that one player to a statement of "Newton's D1 talent doesn't translate to the next level". Well, i am sorry to tell you this, but Newton has more division 1 talent on their team right now than any 4A team out there. Yes, you will be seeing 4 of those players choosing from any conference they want to play in. I know that kills you, but swallow the pill and go root for BC baseball rather than being on here with this foolery. I hear they're going to be pretty darn good. Also, I sure hope Roney get's a lot of playing time these next two season to shut you up. These players that newton has right now, you can bet they will be big time players in college. Your life must suck to be honest.

CardinalBacker, you’re right about your comment. But, you’re living in the past. Only two kids play both ways for this Newton team and that is it. Tamauzia Brown and Josh Foster are the only two. Newton will be playing with 6 division 1 kids this coming season in which 4 of them have SEC offers. It’s not like the years you remember when BC and Orangefield beat them. These kids actually get to play in space now, rather than not letting the athletes show their athletic abilities like the past years. I hated that offense with the athletes we have come through. Speaking on this coming season, they’re just as deep and stacked as any 4A school!

Tamauzia Brown (JR), Darwin Barlow (JR), James Sylvester (SO) and Josh Foster (JR) for Newton all have SEC and Big 12 offers. The Arkansas Razorbacks and Baylor Bears are the only two schools to extend offers to all four players so far. This team is going to be something special this coming season. Guys. I am by no means trying to slander these top tier 4A programs. I have not once said that these teams are scared to play Newton. I have not once said that Newton will beat these programs. All i did was state what went on yesterday morning. All i did was mention that Newton tried to schedule these teams and all of them did not agree to it for their own reasons. These teams are power house programs year in and year out. I respect and root for WOS every single year. All of these sensitive posters are twisting everything up! If you think that i am one of the many dumb Newton posters that are illiterate and just want to stir up the pot, then you're wrong by long shot. I do not think that these top 4A teams are scared to play Newton at all, but i do believe that they're worried that they will lose to a 3A school. If you think i got on here to call out teams, then you are very sensitive. There is no reason for Newton to have a 7 game schedule at this point when you have great programs around the area. They are trying to play teams around here so they don't have to travel 3 to 4 hours for a pre-season game.

I am not putting WOS or any team down. I root for WOS just as much as I root for Newton. I simply was told to let everyone know what went on this morning. Newton tried to schedule Gilmer, Carthage, Jasper and WOS this morning.

If you go to my first post, i clearly stated that "I am by no means saying that these teams are scared to play Newton". Stop indicating that i am saying that. I love West Orange Stark. I love what they have done, I follow them and I root for them! I root for all of their college players too. I am clearly just relaying the message on what went on this morning.

I guess I'll tell him to make his trophy case bigger while i'm at it.

Look guys, i am just relaying the message on what all went on today. A very reliable source (important coach on the staff) told me this information so that people really know how hard they're trying to schedule these games and aren't having any luck in doing so.

I am not disagreeing here. I know that W.T. said no. This is 2018 and would be an awesome game. Let that marinate.

Source: Newton Football Coach (I will not state who) I am by no means saying that these teams are scared to play Newton, but this is 100% factual. Newton's head coach, W.T. Johnston, tried to schedule games with Gilmer, Carthage and West Orange Stark TODAY, and all three teams said no! W.T. has tried to schedule a game with West Orange Stark and Jasper for the last month and he has tried several of times. Just in today, WOS stated that they needed a week 4 & 5 game and Newton tried to schedule and they wouldn't. Woodville had to drop their game with Newton. W.T. has tried to schedule games all the way up to Brock and Rockdale, which both have declined. So far, it is Kirbyville in week one and Silsbee in week two. As a Newton alum, former division 1 player, and a good friend of W.T. and Coach Carver, i will strongly say that the Newton athletes do not need any help with getting offers. Tamauzia Brown, Darwin Barlow, James Sylvester and Josh Foster are the type of players that college coaches find and offer themselves; they are getting offers regardless if a Newton coach or an outside Twitter friend of the players do anything or not. Yes, i see "jkbtjc53" on Twitter everyday and he does love these young kids. I respect the hell out of him for that, but he is not the one getting them their offers. Yes, he know's and talks to some ASSISTANT high school coaches from WOS, Central, Jasper, Etc, but it's not the HEAD COACH. Yes, he may talk to some ASSISTANT college coaches, but it is not the HEAD COACH. The head coach makes the decision to offer a player, not an assistant. The assistant may extend the offer, but that is not his decision, as it only comes from the head coach first. The Newton kids were getting offered by Baylor regardless if the Twitter friend was relevant or not. I see the Newton kids communicate with jkbtjc53 on Twitter, but please do not think you're getting them their offers. They will take comments and love from anyone, as they should. You talk them up and re-tweet everything they post. I commend you on what you do and your effort, sir. Though, I am 99.9 percent sure that not one college head coach that has offered a Newton kid knows who you are. If you did not have a Twitter or know any of these Newton kids through social media, i would guarantee that they would have every offer that they currently have at the moment. This is going to be a great first game for both teams. Both teams will have athletes all over the field. Newton is all around more athletic than the last few seasons. It will be exciting to see newtons D1 player against Silsbee's D1 player out wide. May the best team win!

I'm not understanding why you think that? When Lamar offered these guys from newton, the coaches did pursue them like all the other recruiting coordinators from others schools did. They came to the school just as many times as McNeese did. I witnessed it personally. It's just the fact that everyone wanted to go other ways or received better offers. McNeese feels like home when it comes to choosing a school if there aren't any bigger offers on the board.
