Well, you must have had the refs we had at EC last year! Hopefully those refs do not call games anymore are at least don't call together! I know EC will jump on here and said we are just crying because we lost by 1 pt. No one wants to think they won a game because of refs. Now saying that no, not all refs are like that, but there has been many games they could have just said your not winning, that way no player gets hurt in a game that they were not going to win before they got there. This happens in all sports not just football games. To all the refs that try to call a good game THANK YOU! They will get some calls wrong and may not see everything they are human but when the refs that give games to certain teams are very hard to miss. I have never understood why Adults would do this to the kids, but they do. Just thank God there are more good refs then the bad!

This should be a really good game. I will take Buna by 1 or 2 touchdowns, that is if they keep their heads straight. Both of these teams want to have the bragging rights. I think the team who keeps their focus on the game and not on who's doing what to who will win. Trey, keep your focus on the game, OK! You know what I mean and you know I still think your a good kid!

I know there are rules about playing games when school cannot be in session. I Believe that there should be special consideration when things happen beyond your control. Yes they could go play for other teams but will the players who could go on to college football get the recognition they need for college recruiters. If anyone has any ideas how to help please give us your ideas. Maybe we can adopt a player and help buy equipment, etc. This goes for volleyball too. Can't let the girls down too. For the record I know there are other schools that need help too, my son plays in district 23-2A. For anyone reading this and is thinking why help, do really want to say we won the district title and got 2 foreits from teams who could not play? If you feel that is ok, you are not a true fan or athlete.

Well Irish, I don't know if you are a transplant to Texas but Texas lives for sports. Yes we know there are people still trying to get back in the groove as most of us are doing that also. This gives the kids something to look forward too and gives them something to do. Rita knocked out allot of my oldest son's year and I am hoping it will not do the same to my youngest son's senior year. Just before you start talking about how education is more important, I agree, my son is high up in his class, next best thing is his sports. I thank the coaches for doing this from both teams. It has given our kids something to look forward to and when bad things happen, life keeps going. Our prayers to everyone, and hoping the schools that got hit hard Will lbw back soon. If they cannot get back in for awhile I hope all administers will work something out for the kids. I know when Rita hit some of our kids played for other schools till we got up and running. OUR PRAYERS TO ALL!!

Buna is ok. Glad to see that dV is good. I hope all the others are too and I really mean it. Rita messed up my oldest son's football season and hope my youngest son's senior year will not be like that. So hoping everyone is ok and no ones year gets messed up. Maybe God was trying to put things in perspective. Good luck to everyone! Play hard and play to win but keep in mind in a few years it is just a story for friends and children. There are allot of good players out there and hopefully some will move on to college ball. Support the kids and let them we know we love them and believe in them and be kind to the other team. Win and lose with grace, but play every down to win, the game is never over till the _ _ _ referee blows his whistle!

I heard that the Buna Coaches sent a text saying Tarkington cancelled again. At least they had a good reason this time, voluntary evacuation. Coaches had been trying to get them to play all week. Said yes on Wednesday, no on Thursday. Oh well, the cougs will get some more time to heal any bruises from last Friday and be in great shape fro BC Cards! Here we come batten down the hatches!! Ike has nothing on these boys! Now, don't anyone go off on that just trying to get both teams going so we have another great game. The 2 OT's were exciting, but exhausting too, at least for the fans!!

I don't believe the buna boys played like they did last week, but the fact they kept going was a good sign. They never gave up. The OF boys stayed in there too. #1 for OF is a very good kicker and we also thought the game was over when he came out to kick the first field goal. The 1 he made was at a angle and he put it through like a pro. I hope no one makes him feel like he was the 1 who lost the game, there were 4 Quarters before were the TEAM could have won. To the Buna Boys we are Proud of you!! You hung in there and never gave up and you got your WIN!

I agree with shorttexas about the bad parking lots, But what about visitor's seating? EC, now you know it is bad. Not talking about team, just sitting area. BRINGING FOLDING CHAIRS IS A MUST!

Even in the late 70's the stands were always packed. I also remember Cowboy John and Black Bart. Good to see a few boys from back then making good Coaches. I have always told my boys when they complain about what they have to do in practice, you would never make a TJ practice then!

I am just loving how many people think Buna will not be a good team this year! That's ok, let them think what they want. Granger, are you Cats?

I believe it was 1981 when TJ played OP in Dallas for the the State title. I still think we should have gone for the tie and gone in to overtime. Thompson went for the win.

Yes, we will miss our last year Seniors and I thank you for the show you put on last year! Buna will have sophs coming up that should hold their ground but, we have some Juniors coming up too. Both sophs and jrs are strong and should be a little faster on the lines. I do say I hope all the teams come in to our games thinking it will be a easy win, over confidence always sinks a ship. So now that #1 from EC is gone you still have a team? From everything said last year it was just #1. I always wonder how he did everything by himself. I am not taking anything away from #1, he has allot of talent and I hope he goes along way with it (Tremain is also is nice guy, got to talk to him a little bit at a basketball game) but no one does anything by themselves in football. Well , I guess since EC seems to think they were District Champs by themselves, I guess Buna will drop the co-district theme too. BUNA DISTRICT FOOTBALL CHAMPS '07-08. Sounds good to me! Hey, we play at our house this year, do we get to pick the refs? Sorry could not refrain myself! I believe this will be a year when anything can happen and all of us should see some games we will talk about for a long time. The last 2 years has been good to Buna. Was worried about the 09 year until we saw some of the freshman and sophs coming up. We have some good players that will be Sr's. next year and hopefully great leaders! Time will tell, but I think we will be ok this year. If we do good this year, hopefully, our Boys will be ready to take it to Newton this year!

During the season no one gave any respect to Buna or Hardin! Now that it is playoff time no one is giving any respect to any of our teams! That's ok! We have 3 very good teams in the playoffs, if all the boys will give all they have I believe some other teams will be the ones going home! Play hard Buna, Hardin and EC!

Well, I don't think Newton will be thinking they will just walk away with the game. We scrimmaged this year and I do believe Newton knows Buna is for real this year! I believe EC knows that too! The boys are looking forward to the game! We left Barbay screaming once this year and we plan to do it again! GO COOGS GO!

All anybody has to do is get a game tape and you will clearly see the Dv player on Smith and then getting up and kicking him several times in the helmet. The buna fans were shouting at the refs to stop it. It is also true that the some of the fans from DV were shouting at our kids while they were leaving the field. I was waiting for my son to come off and he looked shocked as he was walking off and I asked him what was wrong and he said they are shouting at us. No team can control what some of their fans do but I would never say all the fans are like that.

I vote for Morgan and all the coaches at Buna! They have done a great job this year. They have stepped out of their comfort zone this year. Then again in Buna we are use to getting no respect. I hope when the playoffs come around the newscasters will give more respect then making jokes as our boys walk on the field like last year. Go Cougs GO
