6-5 Dayton Wins! -
-
Let me see if i can remember how that would go...Ok the 3 coaches would meet and flip. The winner of the first flip would get a bye. The 2 other teams would play and the loser would be out. Then the team that had the bye would play the other team that won to see who goes 2nd and 3rd.

Doesn't matter who beat who in this 4A District if they end up tied they will play instead of using head to head.
-
Yup!

No head to head! It's Tiebreaker in the 4A District!

Lamar Takes Advantage Of Opportunities In 6-4 Win At Texas A&M-Corpus Christi CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Lamar scored three runs in the top of the ninth and Brian Sisk struck out three in 8.2 innings as the Cardinals defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 6-4 at Fairgrounds Field Friday night. Lamar (22-15, 11-5 Southland) scored the winning runs in the ninth inning for the first time this season. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (13-24, 8-8) had its five-game winning streak snapped. Tyler Link led off the ninth with a single through the right side and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Brian Taylor then hit a 2-strike single to right field that put runners at the corners. Both Cardinals advanced on a passed ball to give LU a 4-3 lead. Steven Tucker then laid a perfect bunt down the third-base line for a single to put runners at the corners for the second time in the inning. Travis Dunson then hit a two-run double down the left field line that scored Taylor and Tucker to extend the lead to 6-3. The Islanders threatened in the bottom of the ninth but came away with just one unearned run on one hit before leaving two men on base. Sisk (7-2) threw 8.2 innings and struck out three for the win. After allowing an RBI double to Bryan Gerondale in the sixth that gave the Islanders a 3-2 lead, he didn't allow a hit over the next three innings until an RBI single with two away in the ninth cut it to 6-4. Matt Gore came in and struck out Brycen Bell on three pitches to end the game and notch his first save of the season. Link, Taylor and Dunson all had two hits for the Cardinals, while Dunson had the game-winning RBI in the ninth. He finished with two in the game. Lamar took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Chris Dunkin scored from first on an error by second baseman Ernie Olivarez. David Moore came home on a sacrifice fly by Link in the fourth to give the Cards a 2-0 cushion. A&MCC scored once in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single, tied it in the fifth on a Chase Williams solo home run and took a 3-2 lead on the aforementioned Gerondale double in the sixth. Trey Hernandez (0-7) earned the loss after allowing the three runs in the ninth. He did strike out two in 1.2 innings. The teams will return to action on Saturday for the second game of their three-game series at 3 p.m.

Ybarra, Fontenot compete in All-Star game By Michael Pineda Baytown Sun Published April 19, 2008 - Updated 29 minutes ago Sterling’s Adrian Fontenot and Barbers Hill’s Brooks Ybarra took their place among the top basketball players in the Houston area on Thursday, as they competed in the Houston Area Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game at Kingwood Park. Ybarra scored 21 points to lead the Sandy Schwartz All-Stars to a 124-106 win over the John Lee Alexander Hart All-Stars. Fontenot scored four points for the Hart All-Stars. Both Ybarra and Fontenot started for the respective teams. In the second game of the night, the Harold Wilder All-Stars beat the Virel Kalinowski All-Stars 99-96. The Schwartz All-Stars jumped out to a 25-point lead in the first quarter, only to see the lead get whittled down to five points in the second half. Ybarra scored 10 of his points in the fourth quarter to help his team retake control of the game and put it away. Ybarra added five rebounds and two blocked shots and two assists in the win. Ybarra was the first player to represent Barbers Hill in head coach Nathan Toon’s tenure at the school. “I just started getting some easier looks,†Ybarra said. “The game was more fun than I expected it to be.†Fontenot offensive opportunities were limited in the guard oriented game. The Sterling senior started out slow but came out stronger in the second half. Fontenot scored all four of his points in the second half and blocked three shots. He finished the game with five rebounds and one assist. “I was a little out of shape in the first quarter, I guess I got more comfortable as the game went along,†Fontenot said. “It was fun, I enjoyed playing with some of the guys in the Greater Houston Area.†Fontenot was only the second player from Sterling to compete in the game. Chris Patterson played in 2003. Both Ybarra and Fontenot will compete in the Kingwood Classic this weekend. The Classic is one of the top showcase high school tournaments. There will be 681 teams competing in the tournament from ages 9 to 17, in addition to seniors that have not signed with a college or university. Both Ybarra and Fontenot have yet to sign a letter of intent.

Tribe takes hold of first place By Cody Pastorella The Port Arthur News PORT NECHES — In what was probably his biggest at-bat this season, Port Neches-Groves' senior Eric Harrington stepped into the batter's box, trailing 2-0 in the fifth inning with the bases loaded to the Vidor Pirates — a team that beat the Indians 4-3 on a walk-off homer earlier this season. Just to build the pressure, PN-G and Vidor were tied on top of District 22-4A at 9-2 going into Friday night's matchup. Harrington felt no pressure, however, as he singled to left field to bring in Jerin Spikes. That score cut the game to 2-1, and from that point on, there would be no stopping the senior right-hander who has signed to play baseball with Lamar University. The Tribe went on to score four more runs that inning, claiming a 5-2 win over the Pirates. And with the win, PN-G takes hold of first place with just two games to go. The Indians are now 18-5 overall and 10-2 in district play. After Harrington's single cut the game to 2-1, Blake Reyenga rolled a grounder to third base but a throwing error allowed two more Indians to score, giving the Tribe a 3-2 advantage with no body out. Amir Jalali scored from second base on the error. He drew a walk as the third batter in the inning and it was his run that proved to be the difference. The Tribe added two more runs in the inning, however. Harrington scored off a sacrifice fly from the bat of Jon Carnahan. Carnahan's fly ball also moved Reyenga to third base, which set up Kane Benoit for a sacrifice fly as well. The Indians had just three hits in the ball game. The scored two earned runs. The real difference maker was the two errors in the fifth inning. Vidor had six total errors to PN-G's one. "The fifth inning was huge," said PN-G head coach Jay Stone. "Not only did we finally start putting the ball in play, we scored some runs, took a lead and added some cushion. They did a really good job keeping us off-balance and they hit the ball really hard. We just finally started putting the ball in play and doing the things we talked about doing all week." Harrington picked up his fifth win of the season by tossing all seven innings, allowing two unearned runs on seven hits. He is now 5-0 with two saves. The outs did not come as easy as they sometimes do for Harrington, however. Vidor bullied the Tribe's ace in the second inning, putting together three of its seven hits and scoring two unearned runs. With one out Vidor's Trae Hester smacked a double in the left-field gap. A fielder's choice moved Hester to third base and then with two outs Larry Williams reached on a throwing error, which brought in Hester. Williams made it around after Michael Hester and Will Fontnow each singled.
