  1. Leave the "less" qualified teams alone and let them play. If your organzation builds a reputation for greatness, qualifying for ASA, and putting your players on to college teams. The best will come to your tryouts! During my girls early years, we would drive over one hour to practice to play for teams that fit the qualities that we were looking for! It is not about the area kids, its about YOUR kid and HER dreams!
  2. When the teams a consolidate and form super teams in all age groups, what do all the girls do that do not make that team? If your DD does not make that team do you just walk away from the sport? Yes, the talent is watered down, but the young ladies are learning how to compete and learning life lessons along the way!
  3. Most 8U and 10U coaches get involved to work with their DD. I am one of those parents. That was about 10 to 12 years ago. Did not know a thing about the game, but I watched other coaches, read, surfed the net, and became a student of the game. Every camp my kids went to I took MY notepad and and learned more than my kids did at the time. I bought a batting cage, pitching machine, T's ETC.... I learned from every situation that came up and every game that I coached in and from every coach that coached against me. My point is....Coaches are learning along with the players at that age. Worse case, the coaches are volunteering their time and sometimes being the only father figure these ladies have. The best coaches will continue to work up the ladder and the others will end up in the stands. The best athletes will do the same!! I for one could never replace the time I spent in those dugouts with both my daughters. Just give those volunteers a break and find one of those SUPER teams with paid coaches. Thanks to all those crappy 6U, 8U, and 10U league and select coaches that ever sat in any dugout and gave their time with either of my kids and for instilling the love for the game of softball!!!

  12. I heard this from a wise man once and just thought I would share this knowledge... We don't have to explain anything to anyone...We just try to enforce the rules are WE see them, we all aren't going to agree on what's what.
  13. If a thread is dead, won't it just drop down the page and finally end up in the back pages. Just like the locked thread is doing now? Did you know there was 58 pages of dead softball threads? But they are still there.
  14. Our softball forum has been a place for discussion, to gain knowledge, and have agreements and disagreements on our sport. We laugh with some and laugh at others. The restrictions lately to almost all user interactions, has stifled some of the most interesting debates on our sport. The Moderators are not the police, and should never repress the community interaction. Most on this softball forum have been through the wars of this softball world for ten years or more. Traveled all over this country following our darling daughters from field to field and most truly love this sport and what it has done for our children. The moderators have crack down so hard lately on members the second they have stepped out of line, that you have sent a negative message to our community that free speech is not tolerated on this site. You have made members so mad that they have deleted their accounts and seem to discouraged other members from getting involved. This is hardly the ingredients for a successful forum. Lately, many post have been locked and deleted because the moderators don't like the topic. I am not saying that forum moderators shouldn't be allowed to delete or lock threads that are inappropriate. But they should not be deleted because they don't like the subject matter. I for one miss our old softball forum. Respectfully, Johnny Zink (RangerDad)
  15. Karma Plus for somebody else then. "Shut up self" "No Ima on a roll" "Your an IDi" "Back off, I warning you self" How to Stop Talking to Yourself 1. Decide whether or not it is a problem. Only you can decide if it is a problem. If it is a serious problem, you may need therapy to determine what is causing it. Ask youself these questions, but don't answer out loud: Is the first thing someone hears from me is me talking to myself? Do people give me weird looks while I'm walking around? Have my bosses ever recommended me to a counselor or professional? Is me talking to myself such a big problem that I try to avoid public situations to prevent embarrasment? 2. Make conversations with people. Sometimes, the only reason you're talking to yourself is that you have no one else to talk to. But if you make small talk with people frequently, then you should eventually stop talking to yourself. 3. Try to keep the conversation inside your head. As soon as you find you are talking to yourself outloud, shut your mouth closed. This way, the conversation should continue on in your head. Press your teeth down on your lips so you cannot open your mouth. This will help dramatically. 4. Cut down talking to yourself. Only allow yourself to do it while searching for keys, glasses, change, etc. But be careful with this step, because once you allow yourself to talk outloud, you might start talking to yourself at other times too. Have strict rules to limit your talking, and if you've followed them for a week, do something to reward youself, i.e. watch a movie, buy candy, or get yourself a JUICE BOX, etc.
