  1. As someone new to HS baseball, how are the teams actually picked?
  2. Whatever happened from the dugout is a shame. Boys on both teams are friends from Babe Ruth and I can't imagine why that happened.
  3. The last batter for PNG was Zack Harwood and he hit to the fence. It sounds better the way you wrote it, but unfortunately it wasn't that dramatic! Good game, even though we lost. Congrats to Aaron McFarland for the game winning hit.
  4. Hard to predict - but is should be a heck of a game. PNG wants to win out to prove they belong in the playoffs. PNG 1 Ned 0
  5. WP Brandon Powell - 6 IP, 21AB, 3 H, 1 R (unearned) 0 BB, 9 SO Powell 3-4, 2 1B, 1 2B, 4RBI Harrington 0-4, 2 ROE Mire 1-4, 3B McInnis 0-2, 1BB Carnahan 0-1, ROE Buchanan 1-3, 1B, 1BB Morgan 0-3 Faesler 0-1 Harwood 2-3, HR, 1B, 1HBP, 1ROE, 2RBI Hearn 2-2, 2 1B, 1 SACB, 1BB, 2RBI Flores 2-4, 1B, 2B, ROE, 2 RBI
  6. Rowell is a good ballplayer. So is Jackson. They have a bright future ahead. Buchanan is a good player (and probably the best leader on the field). It all boils down to opportunity to play. Some schools (PNG) for instance, have a lot of depth in their program. There are several sophs (back-up catcher Carnahan included) that would be in the starting varsity lineup at any other school. Several PNG JV players not mentioned anywhere on this forum will come to the forefront next year. As mentioned earlier, the class of 08 will have some rising stars!
  7. Powell had 15 K's (one player reached on a 3rdK passed ball); 7 IP, 25AB, 1H (single in 7th by Brandon Small), 3 walks, 0 Runs - great pitching performance! Gardiner had 4 K's, 6 IP, 29AB, 3 H (single in 2nd by Eric Harrington, single in 4th by Kris Hearn, double in 5th by Matt Morgan), 5 walks, 6 runs - 4 earned, 1 HBP, 1 blk (questionable call) Powell 0-2, 2 BB, 1R, RBI Harrington 1-4, 1B, 1R, RBI Mire 0-3, 1ROE McInnis 0-2, 1BB Buchanan 0-2, 1BB, 1R Morgan 1-2, 2B, SACB Faseler 0-2, 1BB, 1R Johnson 0-3, 1ROE, 1R Hearn 1-2, 1B, 1HBP, 1R
  8. Watch out for Jon Carnahan (soph) for PNG. He is a wall behind the plate , frames the ball better than any I've seen and swings a great stick. He's taking a back seat to a senior heavy team but has stepped up to the plate when needed.
  9. Carnahan for PNG is doing well. 6'1, 205 lb (16-soph). Primary position catcher, but plays 1B and pitches. Stepped up on varsity and filled in pre-season for All District Senior Catcher - Blake Buchanan (out for academic ineligibility). Started District play with highest batting average and OB% (batting in #4 slot). Also played 1B and DH. Don't know how much playing time he will get with a senior heavy team.......one to watch
  10. Indians will take Vidor if Coach Stone makes some changes. Lots of errors on defense that turns the game around.
