Well I saw a few games last year where he was actually in the bullpen in catchers gear. Seeing the outfielders they have coming back next year, and with him redshirting this year, it seems like it might be hard pressed to be a regular...(Depending on What Chad Jones does in football) Is he going to be in Blue and Gold next year?

Tremendous Athlete, and had quite a few at bats last year for LSU. I have noticed that he isn't even on their roster this year. Did he get hurt or did he transfer?

Monster, if the rules haven't changed, the reason they are probably ing two on friday is in the event that it rains on Sat. Just my two cents.

To totally hijack the thread is Rockdale any good? Sorry but Huffman gets them I think. 8) I am actually working in Rockdale right now, and to be honest they aren't even the team that Cameron is. Yes they have a pitcher who is undefeated (Mark Drake) but he is the #2 pitcher and pitches against the weaker teams. Nic Hammit Z(sp?) is their ace, but he is very inconsistent, and isn't a true pitcher. He is a big ole boy who signed a scholarship to play football at Rice. One would think that he would throw harder than he does, but his form is unorthodox, and well basically he is a thrower. I would compare them to Orangefield a few years back. Basically (and I am not being a homer) there SHOULD be (and like I said should because baseball is a funny game) be a 3-0 sweep for the Golden Triangle district. I am sure you will see 3 1 game playoff series, because A.) Taylor has that one gun in Eric Brooks, and B.) Rockdale and Cameron have no depth in their pitching dept.

I have seen Cameron play Rockdale and I will mention a few things I have noticed about Cameron. First of all, in no way will they match up with Bridge City. Cameron is a young team, but they are far from solid. First of all, this district is a very weak district. They have one strong pitcher in Eric Brooks (Taylor) but besides that they lack in talent. I watched the Cameron game and lets just say they dont do the small things. I don't see anyone backing up throws, there was no creeping, and 3 times unsuccesfully they couldn't put a bunt down. Josh Moore who apparently is their #1 has thrown a lot of innings this year, and although a great kid (from what I saw from the stands) he is not something that is overpowering. Knowing Coach Landry and the way he plays the game, he could easily get some cheap runs from double steals, 1st and third situations , and hit and runs. But folks this is why they play the game because anything can happen in baseball.

I have seen this happen a few times in baseball...For instance, maybe there was a glare from the lights where the umpire behind the plate couldn't call a good game, or maybe one of his appendages was hurting so bad where he was forced to switch. I am sure there is more to it, then just the head coach telling them to switch. Especially in a JV game. If that was the case, I am sure the jv coach as some explaining to do to his head coach.

Who pitched for Lumberton? Holding Vidor to two hits, is pretty dang good.

I am curious about this Matt Hicks fellow...Is he anyway related (maybe a nephew) to Rip Matthews?

Alright, I normally don't post but when I saw that someone said Cody Green was the highest ranked QB in the state I had to say that. It is true Gilbert is the #2 ranked QB in the state, but it isn't because of Cody Green. It is because of a guy named Russell Shepperd from Cy-Ridge the five-star QB who is the #1 ranked QB in the country. He has orally committed to LSU. Cody Green is good, but he is not the #1 QB in the state.

I am a little shocked being the disciplinarian that I know that the Lumberton coaching staff is, that they allowed a played that was kicked out in the previous game to even suit out for this game. I guess times have changed. It wouldn't matter if it was a state championship game, he probably should have sat out.

Wow, Legacy Christian is going to have it tough in the following years. That is a pretty tough district.

I am about to make two good points here on this thread, which by the way is probably one of the best threads yet. #1 This is exactly why the better coaches get the better pay. I believe this years team is a perfect example of a Head Coach who put together a staff of his liking, and made the best of it. Coach Credeur is a perfectionist, and never lowers his bar of expectations. Talk to any of his players, they believe that there is nothing that they CANT do. #2 The 2007 Lumberton football team is a perfect example of football being a team sport. There is not ONE athlete on that team that is of D1 caliber, but yet when they play the Ozens, Daytons, and I am sure even Cleveland will have someone go D1 from their school, they can beat them. When you have ALL 11 guys doing their jobs, and not trying to do more, you will have a successful football program. Now is this team more talented than the years past, Heck no. Do they have some Good athletes yes, they do. Light, Eckert, Luttrell were GREAT athletes all with D1 potential, however they didn't have the nucleus like this team does. As a former coach, my hat goes off to these coaches and players, because they have worked hard for this to happen. "The cream rises to the top." Soon it will become a common theme, Lumberton will eventually get into the play-offs year after year. Good Coaching beats Good athletes 9 times out of 10.
