Sabine Pass Sharks Coach Jason Thibodeaux and his Sabine Pass Sharks were just 1 win away from making the playoffs last season after losing to Evadale in week 10 and finishing with a 3-5 record. 15 starters are back for the 2007 season and they will be looking to get to the playoffs for the first time in years. Sabine Pass will have a very good backfield with TB Michael Tollett and FB Charles Clark. Last season Tollett rushed for 450 yards while Clark was the team’s leading rusher with 618 yards and 8 touchdowns. The Sharks will also be armed with a good group of WR led by Cody Almond and Josh James. Other Offensive Impact Players: Casey Hagen (WR) Brad Berg (TB) Defensive Summary 7 starters are back on the defensive side of the ball for Sabine Pass in 2007. Last season the Sharks gave up 32 points per game. With more experience this year the Shark defense should be much improved. LB Korey Arceneaux will be the defensive leader after he recorded 40 tackles last season and had one fumble returned for a touchdown. Another key player back is DT Jacob Bonin. Bonin had 38 tackles and 2 sacks last year for the Sharks. The CB duo of Ryan Nguyen and Justin Nguyen will lead the secondary. Other Defensive Impact Players: Logan Peltier (DE) Trevor McNeil (DE) Sabine Pass opens the 2007 season on the road in week 0 against Legacy Christian. West Brook Bruins The West Brook Bruins have enjoyed lots of success since the arrival of Coach Craig Stump a few years ago. The playoffs have become a regular occurrence for the Bruins and they look to keep the trend going in 2007. Last year the Bruin’s season ended in the Regional Quarterfinals to Cypress Falls 44-27 as they ended the year 9-4. The duo combined for nearly 3,000 yards as Michael rushed for 1,400 yards and Williams rushed for 1,462 yards. The WR duo of Josh Powdrill and Jordan Garrett should add a powerful punch as well. In all, 6 key starters are back for an offense that pumped out a staggering 410 yards and 37 points per game and it doesn’t appear they will miss a beat in 2007. Other Offensive Impact Players: Christian Lewis (QB) Defensive Summary Defensively the Bruins should be solid with 6 starters back. A strong point of the defense should be the line with Ryan Pollard, Leighton Zeno, and Roland Barmalon leading the way along with all-district 1st team DE Blake Chavis back. The secondary should also be strong lead by Mike Williams, Chris Gilford and David Falgout. Other Defensive Impact Players: Devin Williams (LB) Week 0 of the 2007 season will once again be headlined by the cross-town matchup between West Brook and Ozen at Lamar’s Cardinal Stadium. In week 1 the Bruins head back to Lamar to face their other cross-town rivals from Central. A huge final non-district game looms on September 14 as West Brook travels to 5A powerhouse Spring Westfield. Port Arthur Memorial Titans Ronnie Thompson enters his second year at Memorial after a successful first year at the helm in 2006 and will be looking to return to the postseason and make a deeper run this year. The Titans were knocked out of the playoffs in the Bi-District round by La Porte 56-27. Memorial returns 11 starters off last year’s team and should be one of the front runners for the 21-5A championship in 2007. The two front runners for that job appear to be Harry Brown and Jareal Alexander. Look for tailback Patterson Clay to have a big year in 2007. I bought the dvd of the BC/LE game from last year and there is no sound, just the game film. I don't know if it's any different this year but there is no commentary or sound at all on the one I got. I wont buy anymore from them....

Want to say it's been awesome watching you play the last 3 years. I remember every game I got to watch you pitch and every emotion involved in this awesome 3 year ride, your 13 strikeout performance against Ozen your sophomore year, even when you came in to pitch in game 2 that year against Hudson in the Region final at Humble. I remember your first warmup pitch of that game hit about 10 ft. in front of home plate! ;D To your game 3 no-hitter your junior year against Barbers Hill in the Regional Quarterfinals and then getting to watch you pitch at the big dance at Dell Diamond. To your no-hitter against Nederland your senior year, your awesome performances against H-J this year, 17 K's against Splendora, the 2 day game 1 against Wharton, the awesome game against Carthage and getting to see you pitch at your new home at Vincent Beck Stadium this weekend. It's probably harder on me than it is you that this run is over. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you are like a brother to me. Thanks "cuz" for the memories and I am looking forward to making some new ones at Lamar......
