  1. OK but just don"t mention LM are post about LM.I respect that I don't agree with it but will not post anything on this site.I have never seen are hear this before on any other sites that I have visted.Winning alot bring that out of people.Everyone hates winners but the winners themself. gman, Are you hard of "Hearing" or hard of "Reading?" Coop explained that you are welcome to post about LaMarque or whomever you please. How do you intelligently jump from there to "Everyone hates winners but the winners themself [sic]." Have you been saving that line to use on us rednecks? NO I'am not and I'am trying my best to be nice so don't start no $hit. Gman(remember I named you that in 2006?)....remember the ring that means so much, it represents the road that very few have traveled and none will ever know. Remember the flags that fly at Etheredge, many have seen but few will ever fly. Plans are in the making to increase the size of the trophy case because of gladiators such as yourself. You have proven yourself on the field of battle as the many who proceeded you. You do not have to prove yourself on this thread... history has proven that. Remember the code you adopted when you laced on those pads and put on that helmet. Your place in history will ever be etched in stone, the granite monument on the front steps proves that. Let us join our neighbors here in Southeast Texas to honor those who work so hard to make this area the best in the state. Fine, and I'm not trying to start anything either. My point is that Coop told you at least twice that there was no problem with LaMarque posters or any other posters visiting our board. Then you come back and post the idiotic thing about hating winners. I just wanted to know if after graduating from Lamarque could you not read or could you not comprehend? Man the expression over here has always been: "The road to State is through Lamarque." That's the ultimate compliment. And, I'm glad the guy(?) that named you Gman in 2006 has come to your rescue. You two look good together. "You two look good together" What would you mean by that fine sir? I do take that as a compliment actually.....one former student helping another. It does look good in a world where so many turn a blind eye to helping the younger members of today's society. You mentioned "The road to State is through La Marque", although that is not true each year. I would feel confident that most athletes in La Marque would feel honored to have such a compliment coming from someone of your reputation. Earlier in the post Coop mentioned broadcasting La Marque football on this site. That must have generated thousands of dollars of revenue for this site? The new coach for La Marque has a philosophy of discipline and hard work. Hopefully he will join the four other coaches that preceded him in La Marque and take them once again to the big dance someday. It might take a while, we have only been 9 times in the last 21 years, we will have to be patient. I have been told by the people who broadcast La Marque football on Comcast cable each week, there is an average of 6,000 viewers.Just think , La Marque football has been broadcast on TV in the La Marque - Texas City area since the mid '90s...It is a compliment to know that SETXsports enhanced that exposure with it's audio webcasts. Reputation means everything right? You had a question mark beside guy in your post, yes I was born of the male gender and my wife still says she married a pretty good man after 34 years of marriage!! (LOL). Sorry I didn't mean to hijack this thread talking about marriage, that could really open up a bag of worms. Anyway, it is a compliment that you have allowed La Marque to have the privilege of posting on this board. I think the viewers are looking forward to listening to the audio web casts again. Please inform us more about these THOUSANDS of DOLLARS that the broadcasts of LaMarque football brought to this site. Also, Setxsports actually didn't broadcast the games, it's sister Houston site did, but that maybe splitting hairs. You will need to ask Jordan Wilson about that.....would you like to see cancelled checks? Or maybe a copy of the 1099 that was sent to the IRS? I guess I misunderstood Coop when he said "we broadcast La Marque football games"?
  2. Will the broadcasts be on the Houston site again this year?

  5. You're definitely on the rise, incredible fan base. I remember the feeling I had sitting in the stands in 1986 at Kyle Field. It was our first of nine state title appearances, incredible feeling. You guys must be feeling the same after your first playoff victory.
  6. Actually according to KHOU TV radar and also many other radars across the state, the Southeast Texas area is shown in this map Southeast Texas Radar Southeast Texas <<<<click here La Marque is in Galveston County, which is considered Southeast Texas Even though it was a long time ago, I didn't sleep through Geography class
  7. "We are La Marque Cougars Whoosh" More victories than any team from any classification in the State during the 90's. That's including Southlake, Katy, etc. I appreciate you mentioning us on this thread, this decade is not over with yet.
  8. Update on Gary Mullins... he was the DC when Grapevine won both of their State Championships and the starting QB for the Houston Cougars from 69-71. Won the '96 4A Div 1 Championship over Hays Consolidated, 34-19. Shut out a good Bay City team in the '98 State Championship, 22-0.
  9. One must consider something when looking at the record of the five finalists.... The following coaches had similar records prior to coming to La Marque. There is one hicup in the list. Larry Nowotny was thrown to the wolves after the sudden death of Hugh Massey. Huge shoes to fill. Records are not always what make the coach.... It's what he can do with the talent available that makes the coach Most coaches in the list as shown below, realized that when they came to La Marque Double digit wins.... that's the key, double digit wins Hugh Massey: 1983 6-4-0 1984 5-5-0 1985 8-3-0* 1986 12-1-0* Larry Nowotney: 1986 2-1-0* 1987 7-3-2* 1988 5-4-0 1989 3-6-1 Alan Weddell: 1990 9-3-0* 1991 10-2-0* 1992 12-1-0* 1993 14-1-0* 1994 15-1-0* 1995 16-0-0* 1996 14-2-0* 1997 13-3-0* Larry Walker: 1998 13-1-0* 1999 11-2-0* 2000 10-4-0* 2001 9-3-0* Bryan Erwin: 2002 11-3-0* 2003 16-0-0* 2004 11-3-0* 2005 12-1-0* 2006 15-1-0*

  11. They have so many corks in the dam right now, you couldn't drive a pin in a crack with a sledge hammer. You would think this is espionage or something
  12. I sure love those 5 Trophies you have in your signature Coop... nice job Mikey likes it
  13. Currently the topic on who will be the next La Marque Head Coach has 13,450 hits on the CSN website. It goes without saying once the finalist is named, a good portion of Texas will know very quickly.
  14. This also came out in the Galveston County Daily News the other day MARCH 28 02:26 AM in High School Football Five strong candidates to choose from By Joshua Buckley Now this is a list for La Marque fans to get excited about. After being disappointed with the finalists for the La Marque High athletic director/head football coach vacancy last year, many of the most respected voices of Coog Nation expressed their excitement to me over this year’s five candidates. I must say, I agreed with Coog Nation as soon as I saw the list. This year’s five finalists — Grapevine head coach Gary Mullins, Kimball head coach Darrell Jordan, Nederland head coach Larry Neumann, Nimitz head coach David Suggs and Flower Mound Marcus defensive coordinator Chuck Vincent — are easily stronger than last year’s group of five. That’s not meant to be an insult to Lydell Wilson, Chris Jones and Larry Walker, who were finalists last year. After all, Wilson went on to win a state title with Lamar Consolidated, and I still think Jones, while falling short of La Marque’s lofty expectations, can be successful in the right situation. But unlike last year, I don’t think La Marque can go wrong by hiring any of the five finalists. And for that reason, I think Thursday was a exciting day to be a La Marque Cougar fan. Here’s my breakdown of the candidates: 5. Darrell Jordan – Jordan was a surprise candidate, because he wasn’t on the original released list of applicants for the position. But his 52-29 record in seven seasons at Dallas Kimball shows that he is a good coach. Because I don’t know too much about him, I have him ranked at the bottom of the five finalists. 4. Gary Mullins – Like Jordan, Mullins is another coaching veteran who has a proven track record. He’s gone 49-35 in eight seasons at Grapevine with five playoff appearances. I wonder though if Mullins’ resume can compete against the top two on this list, which is why I rank him fourth right now. 3. Chuck Vincent – It’s funny that Vincent probably would have been the No. 1 or 2 choice last year had he gone through the application process instead of following Bryan Erwin to Flower Mound. This time around, he’ll have a hard time beating either of the top two candidates for the position, because he doesn’t have any prior head coaching experience. That doesn’t mean Vincent wouldn’t be a great fit for La Marque. I was very impressed with him in 2006 and think his personality would be a perfect fit for the Cougar players. I know there are a lot of La Marque fans that would be pleased to see him on the sidelines of Etheredge Stadium next year. 2. David Suggs – There are several members of Coog Nation that are trying to tell others that Suggs should be the favorite for the position. Listening to their arguments, they may be correct. Suggs was a former Cougar assistant under Alan Weddell, so he knows what the La Marque tradition is all about. He’s also a very strict coach, which could be a bonus on the field and in the classroom. I have him ranked No. 2 right now on my candidate list, but I won’t be shocked to see him end up with the job. And if that happens, I think Coog Nation would be ecstatic. 1. Larry Neumann – Ever since I saw his name on the applicants list, I’ve thought Neumann was the favorite for the job. He’s already made a name for himself throughout the state as a disciplinarian and a coach that stresses fundamentals. Both are qualities La Marque needs in order to reach state championship potential again. Plus, if he can have the kind of continued success at Nederland, what kind of dominant teams could he create with the athletes from La Marque? The one negative Neumann may have is price. He’ll definitely cost the most of the five candidates. But if money is not an option, I think he has the best chance to get the job. So what do you think La Marque fans? Who would you like to see wearing blue and gold next season?
  15. I do not want to be accused of plagiarizing my high school classmate ( that's right I'm 1971 and he's 1972) but here is some info he posted up on the CSN website Just a few minutes ago, I received a call from a good friend of mine who is an extremely successful Head Coach at a 5A school in Region-II. While he couldn’t give me much information about Gary Mullins, he was able to provide me with some background on Darrell Jordan. (About the only thing he could say about Gary is that he has been put at a competitive disadvantage by the redrawing of district lines.) However, he had a lot to say about Coach Jordan. Darrell is from East Texas and was a coordinator for the Lufkin Panthers under John Outlaw. He is a good coach and motivator and a strict disciplinarian. He does not tread lightly… he carries a stick and he isn’t afraid to use it… there is no doubt about who is in charge. He believes that defense is the key and utilizes *man-to-man* schemes and loves to *bring the house*. (Sound familiar?) Offensively, Darrell has run everything from the *I* to the *Spread*… he is a coach that matches his offensive schemes to fit his personnel. He is also tough when it comes to academics and if he doesn’t get the Jacksonville job he may very well end up being the *surprise* pick because according to my friend (who was called by Bob Ledbetter of Champions to get his input on Darrell) he is everything that Ecomet (and LMISD) is looking for.
