  1. Here's a link to our application for the Seventh Annual Cardinal Cross Country Camp in Bridge City. The camp is for kids entering grades 4-9, and is always a huge success, and loads of fun for the kids involved. For $40.00 the kids get a T-shirt, water bottle, race number, and they get their names entered for various door prizes donated by local businesses. Click on the link to read more about it, and if you have any questions send me a private message or post a reply. We will also be hosting an open 5-K and 2 mile race for kids in HS (awards for place by grade level). (also 1 mile fun run for kids entering fifth grade or below, and 1.5 mile fun run for kids entering grades 6-8)(all fun run participants will recieve an award)Plans are not finalized yet, but I will post a race app here when it is ready. This race will be a great tune up for any CC runners in the area, as it is 3 weeks before the first meet of the season. It will also give you a chance to run on the new course at Claiborne Park that will be used at this year's Cardinal Classic, and District 21-3A meets. If you are interested We will also have age group divisions in ten year increments (maybe five year if we get enough entries). If are interested in the open race, please help spread the word. It will give you HS runners a rare chance to see how you place against runners in your grade. [Hidden Content]
  2. 9:16 is absolutely amazing! Can anyone tell me when was the last time that someone from our area ran that fast? That's got to better than just about any school record in South East Texas. WAY TO GO DREW!

  4. DOES ANYONE HAVE THE COMPLETE RESULTS (TOP SIX) FOR THIS MEET. I'M TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT THE SCORE IS. HERE'S THE SCORE FOR THE GIRLS, BUT I DON'T KNOW THE SCORE FOR THE BOYS. 1. Bridge City 56 2. Hamshire Fannett 47 3. Kirbyville 38.5 4. Silsbee 37 5. Orangefield 12.5 6. Hardin Jefferson 12 7. West Orange 9 8. Jasper 5
  5. There are three kids from Bridge City that have a good chance to run Varsity Cross Country next year. They all ran two miles under 12 minutes this year, and one of them ran a mile in 5:16.
  6. Bridge City 8th grade boys. Last year they were district champs, without two members of their team (moved up to eighth grade team for district). One placed around 4th in both hurdle races, and the other one that moved up won the 1200 (not sure why we still don't race the mile) and barely lost the 800 for second. If they work hard, they should be a tough team this year.
  7. FROM THE COUNTY RECORD: "Through sweltering, humid July heat, Drew Bean runs. Through the misty rain with a chill factor below freezing, Drew Bean runs. And in November, he ran his way to a state championship. Monday, Orange County Commissioners Court paid tribute to Bean with a proclamation declaring Dec. 11 as “Drew Bean Day†in Orange County. On Tuesday, Orange City Council declared “Drew Bean Day†in the city. Bean, a senior at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School, won the state 4-A cross country championship. And high school administrator Linda Warner told commissioners “He’s just as strong academically.†County Judge Carl Thibodeaux praised Bean for his discipline and commitment in working in an individual sport. Bean is the son of Doyle and Debbie Bean. He began running as a child with his brothers playing sports, and “running from my parents,†he said. Usually, he’d stop for them. When he was in the seventh grade, he began running track, then started with cross country in the eighth grade. He told commissioners the cross country run is about three miles. He won the state championship by running the course in 15 minutes, 15 seconds, or 1 minute and 40 seconds faster than when he ran as a freshman. “By far, in my 28 years of coaching, he’s the most dedicated student I’ve ever coached,†David Guidry said. When Bean went before Commissioners Court to accept his proclamation, Thibodeaux asked him to speak at the microphone. “I’ve been told to let my legs do my talking,†Bean said shyly. He said colleges are contacting him, but he hasn’t chosen one. He would like to study, perhaps, biochemistry to become a dentist. And even though he won a state championship, he’s still out running every day. Track season is coming up and he’ll be competing in the 1600 and 3200 meter races. So he runs, “rain, snow or shine,†he said. Last week, he ran during a tornado watch. Maybe to see if he could beat a twister. - For the Record"
  8. Congrats to these two guys. They are probably the only two runners at the state meet that received absolutley no support from their school and had to pay their own way at meets (gas, meals, and entry fees). Maybe next year Evadale will step up a do a better job. But since these guys are seniors, it probably won't improve. Good luck on the the next stage guys, don't be afraid to tell recruiters what you've had to deal with this year.
  9. "I have a real strong feeling that I've got this in the bag," said Fort, who finished second in the state his sophomore year. "I don't want to be too confident, because there could always be that one guy who decides to kick it in with 80 meters to go to pass me. But I plan to just take it out really hard in my final high school race. "I feel a lot stronger. I feel like I have a lot more power. I know that I can do it, that there's nobody in the state of Texas who can beat me." This is what he had to say when interviewed by the Austin American Statesmen. The article ran the morning of the meet. Drew Bean got a chance to read a little before his race. Congrats to Drew bean on a tremondous race, one of the best I've ever seen. Drew did not lead until the final 200 meters, but he was in control of the race from start to finish.
  10. Without a doubt, the most successful and most dominant track athlete in this area to graduate recently is Aaron Brannen of BC. His PR's were 9:39; 4:20; and 1:59. His senior year he was state champ in Cross, the 2 mile, and the 1 mile. His Junior year he was runner up in all three. Also without a doubt, the most successful and dominant track athlete in HS right now is Drew Bean of LCM. He's been breaking Aaron's records, and is closing in on a sub 15 minute three mile. He is by far the most disciplined hard working HS athlete in the area. On a side note, the greatest race I ever saw was these two guys racing in the mile at OF. They were neck and neck the entire way, with Aaron narrowly outkicking the younger Bean to win by one second. (4:20 - 4:21)
  11. Good look to all the student athletes and coaches that will be involved in the middle school meet today.
  12. We lose 5 seniors (3 of which were 4 year letterman). We'll have our fifth, seventh, and eighth runners back next year (two sophmores and a freshman). We have no juniors this year, and nobody really stood out on our JV team. Next year will definitely be a rebuilding year.
