Carthage, IMO, gave Silsbee 2 TD.  I didn't like the fact that they were pooch kicking it and not covering the kick correctly.  No. 6 showed a lot of speed.  Officiating, from Waco, was h o r r i b l e, and Carthage still won.  Tough to beat a decent football team and officials too.  Looked to several of us that this game was way to big for that group.  Anyway, i was pretty impressed by the qb.  Good arm and legs.  When I was leaving he was down on the ground on the Carthage side of the field.  I hope he wasn't too hurt.  I didn't like some of the cockiness I saw, but in today's football, I guess that's expected.  Carthage played okay.  We've got to stop turning the ball over.  4 turnovers is 4 too many.  Even though 1 of them was for sure a botched call at the 1 yard like when Carthage's forward progress had stopped, knee was down and back was stripped and the LJ immediately gave the ball to Silsbee.  Didn't matter though, Carthage did't allow them to score.  I was really impressed with how Silsbees coach said that "Carthage won't run against us."  I guess he wished he didn't say those words now.  Congrats to Silsbee on a good season.  Your kids having nothing to hang their heads about.  Any team at this level earned the right to be there, and unfortunately someone has to lose.  Good luck in the rest of your year in other sports.  I'm sure we may see ya'll again next year in the playoffs.  Carthage is just juniors right now.  Now on to El Campo.  GO DAWGS!

I saw someone ask about the Carhage team, I gave information.  Immediately Silsbee fans started talking trash that most of them don't know!  I expect fans to support their team.  I really do.  I can tell you that I'm, as a fan, not looking past Silsbee, and you better believe that the coaches in Carthage have the team focused upon this all star no mistake team they are about to play.  Reminds me of Brownwood when Carthage played, and we know what happened then.  Different Carthage team though.  Looking forward to the game.  Hoping Carthage wins, even it is just by 1.  Good luck to all fans travelling.  I pray you all have have a safe trip to the game and back.......

[/quote] Best defense in the state?  Who might that be?  Carthage played Whitehouse who was beat for the #4 team in 4A and is still in the playoffs.  We held them to the least they had been held to up to that point.  John Tyler allowed more points that we did.  Carthage could have made it in 4A also.  I believe Carthage has one of the best, if not the best coaching staff I've seen, and I've seen a lot of them.  The amazing thing is, most of the teams who have talked that kinda trash end up finding out that Carthage is better than they predicted.  Anyway, teams down there think Carthage is just going to roll over and play dead.  The Dawgs played 4 - 4A teams, and two 3a teams that were pretty good at the time, before district. They beat a very fast Palestine team in the first round.  I've heard about Silsbee and I'm not going to try to dog the kids there.  But if you think it's going to be easy, you're fooled.  .

Guys, I am from Carthage and I will fill you in on a few things.  They gave Jacksonville the game, very first game of the year.  6 turnovers and 13 penalties.  The Dawgs intercepted the ball with about 2 minutes in the game, and all they would have to do was fall down and run the clock out.  But the young man who intercepted ran about 50 yards and was stripped before he went down.  Jacksonville went down and won with just a few seconds left.  Whitehouse, went division 2 in 4a and was beat in a barn burner last week.  Carthage muffed a kick that went into the endzone.  the kid kneeled in down in the endzone, which should have brought it out to the 25.  However, the ref put in on the 1 and just before Carthage snapped the ball, the Ref blew the whistle, talked to the other officials and then awarded Whitehouse a safety.  Carthage was then only ahead 27-22.  The kicked to Whitehouse and they scored with a few seconds left in the game.  Every game that has been close, Carthage has had problems with turnovers and penalties.  If this team shows up on Friday with a no mistake performance, Carthage will be very very tough to beat.  Mostly Juniors on this team.  Most of the front 7 on offense, the QB, and RB are juniors too.  Don't remember about wideouts.  Defense is tuff.  Hard to run up the middle on them and they cover ground really fast.  From the post ya'll put, I understand ya'll have speed.  Carthage has speed and has seen great speed this year.  All the fans better hold on for this one......it will be good.  Of course I pick the Dawgs even it is just by 1.
