1.
I am the STJFL president and I was at the field during this game. During the first quarter, I was told by other board members that the Lumberton coach did not have his cards. The Beaumont coach did not inform the STJFL until after the game was started and had already agreed to have the Lumberton coach send somebody to get his cards. The STJFL members are usually not present at the initial MPR meeting and card exchange because it happens between the coaches before the pre-game meeting and coin flip. The purpose of the cards is to establish the eligibility of players, but if a coach allows players to start the game without verification then eligibility is implied.  Almost every game is started without card verification by either team. Before the season started we informed all coaches to stop a game and get a STJFL member to resolve conflicts, but that did not happen in this case. There were four board members present that were not from Lumberton involved with this. The STJFL Coaches Representative went to each sideline and had discussions with both coaches and all agreed to allow the game to be played and the cards were verified before the end of the game with no ineligible players. The STJFL has procedures in place to deal with issues and complaints. This is being handled by the Coaches Representative who is not associated with Lumberton or Beaumont.  He is still talking to all of the board members and he will inform everyone involved when there is a decision. Generally when there is a complaint the members of that association are not involved with the investigation or punishment and this situation is no different. I hardly ever post on this site and I'm not going to engage with anyone over this topic, but I wanted to try and set the record straight.
This statement is incorrect. Carlos and Jeani were informed prior to kickoff

The coach waived his rights at the beginning of the game... Just like if a coach signs the MPR sheet and the other team does not play any 10 play kids at all, that coach can't protest that. Simple guys.
As I understood it from previous posts, you were not on the field.  I don't know how you know that he waived his rights.  Also, I saw the posts that the Bmt coach began in protest, which would protect his rights.  I also saw posts that indicated that the Bmt coach agreed to play, if Lum coach produced them at halftime, which was not done.  In that case, I think he (bmt coach) did enough to protect his rights.  I did not witness what was said.  I am looking at this from the outside, on some message board, responding to what anonymous(ish) posters say.  I am not trying to make a conclusory statement to the facts, since I was not there to witness what was said.  I do not think anyone cheated.  I have not heard that was even an issue.  What is at issue is the rule.  If it was broken, and the league allowed an exception, I would like to know what the decision was and why.  Not because I want to attack or applaud it, I just want to know when I can have the exception.  When does the rule apply to my team, when does it not.  As a coach, what must I do to preserve the rule?
Very good post, shockg.

Just like if a coach signs the MPR sheet and the other team does not play any 10 play kids at all, that coach can't protest that. Simple guys.
But the question is this - Can a coach waive a violation? There was no "signing off on it". There is no paper to back that up. Add to that, this - once a board member has been made aware of a violation, can they "waive" it? Prior to the kick off the head coach of Beaumont spoke with two board members. I know of, at least, 3 other board members that were there. Once informed, what was the responsibility of the board members? Should they have postponed the game to talk about the violation and make a ruling? Is there a rule (and I know there is not) that states a violation of rules can be decided upon by the coach of a team. Procedure violations as to player cards and other off the field issues are not dealt with on the field by coaches. They are dealt with by the organization... later.

It's not the STJFL fault that the coach did not know the rule.
Hey your finally right about something but it sure is their fault they let the game be played!
THE COACH SAID ITS OK. IF HE WOULD HAVE SAID NO NO NO IT'S NOT OK THEN I DOUBT THE STJFL WOULD HAVE LET THE GAME BE PLAYED.
You weren't there on the field, were you? I was. Unless you are the coach that forgot the cards you don't know what was said. So, how can you say what the coach said? You suppose alot for someone that wasn't there.

 8. This is killing me. I have one person telling me that we - Beaumont Bulldogs - have practice at 5:30 tomorrow. On the other hand someone here claims that Lumberton is still playing. It's almost 10. I have to work tomorrow. Someone should tell us what is what.
 9. I apologize to all. I was told what I thought was the final decision. That is not the case. I misunderstood and posted incorrect information. I am deleting my earlier posts. Again, I apologize.

They were lucky that Bmt wanted to play and not win on a forfeit because someone forgot their team's player cards. Got the whole story if anyone wants to know...
Was Bmt given that option or did someone make them play and told them they were on there way?? I think the only punishment this yr was given to Bmt B because they scored 75 points. And there is No rule that say you can't score 75 points. The game should have been played but Bmt should have advanced
You must be talking about a jr team because Bmt Senior didn't score higher than 51. Also - I had typed a response in which I, who was there and the MPR for the Bmt team, related what I knew happened. I too, wonder why the threat asking the question was deleted. I know what the rules state. No player can play without his player card at the game. Hence, if an entire team doesn't have their cards at the game... And I have that whole response saved if anyone wants to read it

 14. Lum B beat Bmt 28 - 0 Lum W beat Bmt 25 -19 Which one are you talking about?
 15. I received an email from our team mom telling us about the price of admission to the playoff games. Okay, I see nothing wrong with charging admission. The email goes on to say that only players, cheerleaders, and head coaches will be allowed in FREE. As an assistant coach I am beside myself. Its not the money but the principle of the matter. Have I not been out there as much, if not more, than the head coach? Have I not spent as much time away from my wife and other kids to help our team? Should I not be given the respect that is being shown to the head coach? I had to submit to a background check and do the online classes like everyone else. I earned my coach's tag. I've been to every game and to practices in the heat and in the rain. There is not one head coach in this league that could do it all by himself. I'm not trying to be disrespectful to the coaches but we are in this together. If the league wants to make a couple of bucks thats fine. But to charge the coaches? As Chris Carter would say every Monday night during football season... C'MON MAN!
