  1. warren took a while to get started and mounted a good comeback, it was 5-0 anauac in the 3rd. the opportunity was there they just didnt quite pull it out. both teams played a great game tho
  2. that kid actually asked to get moved down. i dont know who's side that argues for but i figured i would throw it in
  3. warren warriors baby!! lol ok maybe not this year, but give willis some more time with the young staff and it will be amazing what they can do!!!
  4. yeah it was crazy...d-ville was up 11-1 in the third and warren came back for the win...good job warriors!!!!! the pirates hit the ball and played a good game but like i said, nobody can hang with the warriors if they show up to play, even if they wait till the fourth inning to start
  5. i absolutely agree, willis just hasnt had much to work with this year...give him another year or two with the young staff tho, and it will be amazing what he can do
  6. both teams played great defense, the warriors just didnt hit like they normally do. caleb pitched great for warren and they had 0 errors. third base for EC made about 50 plays, and their center fielder looked like ken griffey jr out there...congrats bucs
  7. i think the medical information posted argues that contact (malicious or not) should be allowed. granted i dont have kids that play, but it said there were 1.95 injuries per year, in all of high school baseball in the US. i dont know the statistic, but i would be willing to bet my bottom dollar the kids are much more likely to die in a wreck on the way to the field than get hurt bad in a collision at the plate. i say let the kids play the game like it was meant to be played. im talkin like old school ty cobb stuff. thats just me tho, and i understand the other side, just dont agree with it.
  8. i completely agree about the discipline, the kids that whine are just the ones that have never been held accountable and they need to get better or get over it. as far as carnley more playtime may have made a difference, but i talked to him at the beginning of the season and he didnt want to play even then. morgan and willis both know a whole lot about baseball, and given time they will definitely impact the team even more than they already have. im not gonna say i agree with absolutely everything theyve done, but then again the coaches know things that i just dont...practice performance, etc. the team's problem is definitely pitching, and granger would definitely have made a difference there...i havent seen sims pitch in a long time, but if what whsalum says is true he would also have helped trememdously. the other 4 athletes would have done very well as people to fill spots, but warren's problem is they have too many people to do that already -- 3-4 good players and a bunch of boys that have been playing for a while and know what theyre doing, but just arent stand-out players.
  9. alright i know this is a best catchers thread and hes not the best in the area, but does anybody think babino from warren has a chance to play at the next level? he hits about 400 in 2A, doesnt throw many people out but anyone that goes to a game can see his pitchers dont even try to give him a chance...the only one who even uses a slide step with a runner on first throws all of 55 mph with the wind at his back...hes got a great arm and is incredibly solid behind the plate, with only two passed balls or so all year...any thoughts?
  10. it really just depends on which warren team shows up. if they play well, like they have on occasion this year, nobody can hang with them...not even buna. but they havent made much of a habit of playing that well this year..............
  11. larry is a jerk...lol good job warriors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its amazing what can happen when you dont make 10 errors in a game...
  12. new waverly used to be like 280 in the corners with a short fence, but they moved it back two years ago i think...now its average sized
  13. yeah warren played great, with flawless defense and great pitching. they hit good too. definitely thank the cloud god for that one!! lol they just need to play like that every game, and not half the time...especially after that debacle* friday, now they have to win out...good luck Warriors!!!
  14. i catch and i think it should definitely be allowed, and lower your shoulder if you want to!! its high school ball for gods sakes, not little league...collisions at the plate are part of the game. thats why girls play on the other field!!!!
  15. the only possible reason i would say to ban metal is for the uniformity from the top down...maybe the best hitters in high school wouldnt be affected too much by the change, but the thing is that a lot of the guys that play arent great hitters. the ball definitely has more pop off of a metal bat, thats why people use them; but thats a good thing, especially for 1a or 2a schools who arent just busting at the seams with high quality hitters. i vote a firm NO BAN
  16. i just think levi is a little bit wasted there...but its just a different school of thought. He is a great lead-off in that he gets on base probly 80% of the time, and he has great speed...but hes also a good power hitter, with a lot of doubles and more HRs than anybody else on the team: a great candidate for 3rd batter or clean-up. All in all, hes just a great hitter...
  17. i absolutely agree with almost everything you said...i would be terribly embarrassed to have my daddy sitting in the stands watching practice...but i think most of the kids do like both coaches. theyre both good guys, and very committed to giving warren the best season possible. they definitely know baseball, and that means a lot to the players. on the lying thing, ive never heard him lie...maybe stretch the truth a little, but not make stuff up.
