  1. Thanks, WHM ...I know it's going to be SO MUCH FUN!!!
  2. Guys, it kills me not to be able to be there, but I'll be wearing my playoff shirt tomorrow and thinking of you!!! Kate and I are your biggest fans! ALL THE WAY TO AUSTIN!!! JCFan, sportsmom3, WHM, hssportsfan, etc....scream for me, okay?!
  3. I've seen Caleb Jackson play. He is an EXTREMELY GOOD player and deserves lots of recognition and acknowledgement. Brandon Letsinger is an EXTREMELY GREAT player. Letsinger gets my vote.
  4. T_totha-K, I'm just curious as to when you've seen Brandon Letsinger play. I haven't noticed a lot of Memorial fans at West Hardin's games this year. I'm just wondering because I've never met anyone who's seen Brandon play that characterized him as "ok."
  5. Spinks, thanks for everything you said in your second and third posts. I just want to point out that so much of basketball is about match-ups that it's hard to compare two teams just because of their performance against a mutual team, you know what I mean? I'll give you that HJ should beat WH any day of the week, but I do have to say that I believe WH could make a game out of it any day of the week. And I also firmly believe that West Hardin has proven how good they are throughout their 27-1 season and has nothing to prove against WOS. And I don't think that losing to WOS would be any prediction of how they do in the playoffs b/c they're not entering in the 3A bracket. Anyway, just my thoughts...I appreciate you clarifying that you weren't trying to down WH! Big_robes49, WH-BackInThaDay was being sarcastic...he wasn't saying that you guys haven't played anybody. He was saying that that's what people say about West Hardin. Good luck in the playoffs, HJ!
  6. On paper, WOS should win this game. I haven't seen them play, so I won't make a prediction. Oilers, I think you should just get out there and play your game and avoid injury! And whether you win or lose, you've already proven that you're for real! Anyone who would question that at this point is just plain ignorant. Earlier in the season there were plenty of doubters posting unsubstantiated junk, but not so much anymore! I hope you guys just play hard, smart and safe and take full advantage of the practice and experience you'll get against these guys!
  7. Nobody would've predicted this big of a win for WH over BS, but WH EXPLODED onto the court from the first second of the game. Brandon Letsinger was barely HUMAN in the first quarter!!! He just went off with three 3's in WH's first three possessions followed by a lay up and one...and all of this with four defensive stops in a row! After the first four possessions of the game it was 12 to 0!!! Every single WH player was big tonight. NOBODY had an off night! Matthew Hashaw played crazy defense against McKinney and pretty much shut him down and Austin Laird did the same thing. Tyler showed tonight what a SMART player he is. This kid knows basketball and he knows his abilities...he knew what he was up to contributing (being sick) and he never tried to force any shots...and played defense like he wasn't even sick. His fever broke only hours before the game and yet he was a big player tonight, especially in the fourth quarter!!! Jared Tomlinson has shown up huge in both of these last two games against Big Sandy with scoring and rebounds. And Zach Simmons...what a game tonight! Smart decisions, mad-crazy hussle and two big threes to go along with several other buckets! Every single one of you guys brought your A-game and then some tonight!!! West Hardin's defense was HUGE tonight!!! That's the best defense I've ever seen them play and that type of defense will take them far in the playoffs! Big Sandy is used to being able to get open and make jump shots and they have great shooters, but tonight, there was just flat nowhere to get open...WH looked like they had about eight guys out there on defense! And as far as Big Sandy goes...these guys are no joke. They never even thought about giving up. They kept their intensity up and they kept fighting. I ALWAYS leave impressed after having watched them play and tonight was no exception. Coach Foster and team, BEST OF LUCK in the playoffs! I know that all of our fans will be cheering for you! You guys are a fantastic team.
  8. Tyler Copeland is sick. Please pray for a speedy recovery as we're facing BS tonight for the district championship. If you know this kid, you know it would kill him to miss this game! Get well, Tyler! I know a lot of people are praying for you, but even if you do have to miss the game, just know that we care more about you and your health than we do a basketball game! And we're playoff bound regardless! Take care of yourself.
  9. Obviously Donahoe has some EXTREMELY special talent, and I think he would probably get player of the year for this area. Having said that, anyone who says Brandon Letsinger can't hang with the big boys is obviously uninformed or just ignorant of this kid's talent. I've noticed since I've been reading these forums that there are some people who have no problem posting about things that they OBVIOUSLY know nothing about. As far as Brown goes, I don't know him, so I can't comment on his attitude, but I do know that a lack of coachability can severely hurt a player's progress and growth, and a bad attitude can poison an entire team. IF he does have a bad attitude and IF the post (that has now been removed) was really from him, he has a lot of growing up to do and for his sake, I hope he'll work on that. I feel sorry for the kid to be honest; you never know what a kid has been through in life...and IF his attitude really is that bad, he'll discover soon enought that it doesn't get him anywhere in life or on the court. He's just a junior, right? I truly hope for his sake that he'll get it together before it's too late, and hopefully he has coaches that will help him learn the lessons he needs to (even if that means taking a stand that might not benefit the team in the short term) instead of just taking advantage of his talent.
  10. WB42, that's not entirely true...not all of the votes for Coach Fuller have come from West Hardin fans. I do have to throw my vote in for Coach Fuller. This is only his second year coaching varsity basketball, fourth year coaching period. I've never seen a group of guys buy into a coach and play as hard for him as I've seen the Oilers do w/ Coach Fuller. I've been around a lot of coaches in my life and what Fuller brings to the table on every level is not easy to find.
  11. AMAZING game! Both teams played their hearts out. Both teams' fans SCREAMED their hearts out! My ears were ringing when we left the building. Neither team let up for a second of this game. Congratulations, Oilers! I usually have plenty to say, but I'm kind of speechless right now. You guys showed up and did exactly what we all knew you could do. Jared, GREAT GAME!!!!!!!! Brandon, I'm pretty sure you silenced the haters! Coach, way to go!! (We missed you, Stokley...feel better!) ALL of you as a team sure know how to make your fans PROUD!!! DON'T LET UP!!!
  12. Thanks for the info whsalum and allsportsfan!
  13. All I've done from the beginning of this crazy back-and-forth is refute non-truths that have been posted about the incident because I was there on WH's side and saw and heard everything that happened. If you go back to my original post, I said that Carter may be a great guy who was having a bad moment, but that's all I've ever seen of him, so that's all I have to go on. If he is a great guy who was having a bad moment, let's leave it at that. We all have bad moments! Nobody is perfect! I don't have a problem with that at all...I have a problem with facts being twisted, distorted and flat out lied about.
  14. Great game!!! I have been SO impressed with HD both times we've played them. They do not get the credit they deserve, but they are showing up to prove how good they are. I'll be really surprised if they don't make the playoffs! They may be young, but that really didn't show...they were down by about ten after the first quarter, but didn't even think about giving up! They fought hard and looked great doing it! Congrats, HD. Keep it up! Congratulations, Oilers...22 wins...how many people can say they've been a part of a season like this? You guys played AWESOME! Tyler shot the lights out! The rest of the guys played like champs, too! You guys have been turning it up lately and you've got to keep that up! Use the game against HI this Tuesday to get even better and we'll be ready for Friday! I don't think I've ever been to a game that was that loud! The fans on both sides were supporting their teams like crazy the whole game. Great game! Great atmosphere! Great fun!
  15. Does anybody know how Broaddas, Chireno and West Sabine are in comparison to West Hardin and Big Sandy? ...anybody who has actually seen them all play?
  16. Okay, I'm not trying to be ugly, but... UT#1, where were you sitting at the WH-Warren game? Unless you were sitting in the middle of the WH fans, you didn't hear what was said. Yes, a WH fan was ejected from the game because of something she said to one of the refs. THAT was the only time the game was paused because of a WH fan. The first time the game was stopped was because of the guy sitting on the end of Warren's bench. (I've heard he's Carter's dad, but I'm not sure if that's true.) HE was mouthing off at the ref and the ref blew his whistle and address him AND Coach Carter about it. So watch your accusations! The West Hardin fans were NOT out of order. That ONE fan who was ejected was out of order and that was between her and the ref and had nothing to do with the coach. (And he did threaten to come up into the stands, and I would not say that if I hadn't heard it with my own ears.) Warfan, I know several winning, very good, even GREAT coaches who coach with class and integrity because they are people who possess class and integrity. And if you have to play without class and integrity and teach teenage boys to play without class and integrity in order to win, then yes, I say it's better to turn the score board off (and I do realize that not everyone would agree with that opinion!). Having said that, I will agree with you that "class" isn't what this thread was originally about, and you certainly don't have to have class to be one of the best coaches. I do understand what you're saying there, but in my opinion, you CAN be one of the best and have class and integrity. Example: New England Patriots coach - little to no class, great coach. Indiannapolis Colts coach - tons of class, great coach. I guess the fact is that different people value different things in life (hence, all the differing opinions! ). Some people value winning above character and some people value character above winning. My respect goes to the second set of people.
  17. WH by 18. Go Oilers! I agree with WHIRAQFAN...fans, let's get rowdy, but be nice!
  18. UT#1, I was sitting in between the man from West Hardin and Coach Carter during their arguement. It's just plain not true to say that he turned around and tried to "calm down" the man from West Hardin. He turned around and insulted and threatened the man and ESCALATED the situation. He may be a great coach; his players may love him; the players' parents may love him. That's all great, but what he did during that game was embarassing and unprofessional. I'm not saying he wasn't provoked, but all coaches have to deal with taunting fans every now and then (not saying it's right), but they have to be able to control themselves and stay in the game and out of the stands. Almost everyone in the visitor's stands that day heard exactly what he said and saw exactly what he did, and trust me, we were not impressed. All that said, you're right, it's not about who's the nicest coach, so he may very well belong on that top 5 list. I think it's great for you to stick up for your coach, but I just don't think it's right to get on here and try to make him into the good guy in this particular situation. He wasn't. Also, Coach Joubert is a very, very good coach in more ways than one. I think it's ridiculous to try to say that just because a coach has talent, he doesn't play just as major of a role in a team's success. Mr. Reality, the coach from Big Sandy is Coach Foster. He is an outstanding coach!
  19. What were the results when Chireno played Broaddus and West Sabine?
  20. Completely unecessary! That coach is an embarrassment to the profession... not the right example to set for his players.
  21. Way to go Oilers! You guys looked great. Keep playing that way and no one is going to touch you. Great game, Matthew!!! Our prayers go with you, WHIRAQFAN. Take care!
  22. Thanks, Coop...I was actually interested in knowing what schools they played in their pre-district match-ups. I heard they played some 4A schools and I was just wondering if it was true. Any idea?
