  1. OK, forgot about the bunt, just remembered he didn't reach base. And I am not directing that at HF. It does not matter who WO-S plays, they always get ragged on. If they lose they suck. If they win they either played a sorry team or the other team had a bad game. If the pitcher hits .800 for the week and strikes out 17, it's just not as good as the guy who hit .800 and struck out 11?? That's my point, but I guess the mustangs should be used to that by now so I don't know why I'm arguing this. Good luck against BC tonight. I would love to see ya'll beat them!!
  2. immature a little bit. I guess HF's great center fielder (The best you've ever seen) lit it on fire last night with that wonderful 0-4 with 2 K's outing. Ya'll are doing nothing but proving what I said in another thread, everyone hates WO-S and looks for any opportunity to try and make them look bad or rag on them. All this crap got started because someone posted that the 2 outfielders were fast, backing up that statement by listing their positions in football. Has nothing to do with football. HF was the better team last night. But I guess I can understand why it feels so good to beat a team for the first time in 2 years in ANY Sport. Don't hate the tradition. And you say piss on football, in SE Texas, yeah right. It wouldn't be piss on football if you didn't expect to get your ass whipped. WELCOME TO 3A DOWNLOW PART II. !!!!!!!
  3. Both of those guys can fly and they catch everything they can get to. Earl hit a HR in both games against Orangefield last year, one of them to win 1-0. He hit one last week against Anahuac and almost took the third baseman's head off with another shot. Last I heard Earl was hitting well over .300 and Franks was hitting over .400. The are both contact hitters and are able to beat a lot of balls out. You cannot take anything away from these guys just because they play Mustang Football.
  4. Actually you wrote the words I was looking for. I think Angelle and several others are probably more popular than Sparks and would not want that to hurt him. With the performances the 2 had they might could have been co players of the week. The week these 2 had don't happen very often, it is just a shame they decided to do it the same week. And no, I am not trying to say that all people are against WO-S and start all that downlow crap. Every school has people that dislike them!!
  5. I feel confident that they let HJ bat in the top of the 5th so he had 11 k's in 5 innings. That means he would have to strike out 6 of 6 in the final 2 frames. I'm not too confident about that. The fact is that Angelle had 11 k's and Sparks had 17. Sparks is more of an MVP for the week because would BC have won with someone else on the hill, yes. Would WO-S have won with someone else on the hill facing Roebuck?, probably not. I guess Sparks did not deserve it when he not only struck out 12 to defeat #3 BH but also hit the 3 run homer to win 3-2. ?? pattern here?? How about some polls on here so it is not 1 persons opinion who the player of the week is??
  6. Sparks got ripped on this one. How many people struck out 17 last week and hit .800. Angelle's stats were comparable but a Mustang will have to win by a landside because a lot of people just don't like WO-S. Congrats on a great week Sparks.
  7. I think the weighted balls can be good and bad. If they are not used corrrectly they will probably lead to injury. When I played back in the day we used the weighted balls on a strict schedule during the off season and they helped my arm tremendously and I never had any type of arm injury or pain the whole time I played through HS and College.
  8. Sparks had 17 k's against Hardin Jefferson and from the newspaper articles I believe he went 4-5 in the 2 games last week with a double, triple, and 2 walks.
  9. Seems everyone thinks WO-S is terrible without Sparks on the hill. Some teams will be surprised when they go up against Ayers. He is a good pitcher also. I have seen him pitch and he will do a good job in district. The Mustangs just have to make sure they don't take anything for granted tonight and take Anahuac out early. You cannot let a team like that hang around for a while.
  10. In this district if anyone loses to Anahuac they can forget the playoffs. Wins will be precious with the competition in 243A. WO-S has set themselves up for at least a run at making the playoffs with the tough win over HJ but a loss to Anahuac would kill them. Don't see it happening.
  11. I have heard that Sparks does have a few offers but I do not where or anything.
  12. With Angelle on the hill, it looks like HJ is in for a long week.
  13. ????? 2-1 Stangs
  14. I just read on KOGT that Sparks had 17 k's, not 16. WOW!!!!
  15. from what I heard I think 1 of them was walked and the second one reached on a hit before the hit that drove them in, but I could be wrong. Nonetheless it sounds like it was a great game. I should have made the drive to watch it. I also heard that HJ had many chances as well. Supposedly in the 2nd inning Sparks walked the first 3 to load the bases and then struck out the next three. Talk about working out of a jam!!!
  16. 24 3A will be interesting this year!! BC 1-0 HF 1-0 WOS 1-0 HJ 0-1 Orangefield 0-1 Anahuac 0-1 Friday BC vs HJ HF vs Orangefield WOS vs Anahuac
  17. Roebuck did give up 5 hits. I got a call from the game after it was over and Eric Sparks went 2-3 along with his 16 K's. Tim McLelland drove in the 2 runs with a single up the middle in the 4th. Jacoby Franks had an infield hit and Terry Veitch had a line drive in the right center gap over the 2nd baseman's head. Congrats to the Mustangs!! I also hear that Sparks was robbed of a shutout when in the 7th a kid from HJ got in a rundown and blatantly ran out of the baseline to avoid a tag. If the right call is made Sparks gets the shutout. But I would be willing to bet he is happy with a W and a 1-0 district record!!
  18. The only "if" scenario in this game will be which pitcher has his good stuff. If Roebuck is on WO-S will be in trouble, if Sparks is on HJ will be in trouble. If both of them are on what a great game it will be!! Someone will win and someone will lose and the beauty of it is that they play again in a couple of weeks!! There will be a lot of good games this year in 24 3A. So many of the teams are so close together that many of them will be toss ups!!
  19. Once again, WO-S has 5 varsity baseball players on the basketball team. Supposedly some of the other kids on the team said they wanted to go play baseball on Thursday and if the basketball team makes it to the state campionship game they want to go watch. Is the team supposed to play with 6 or 7 people or does the coach get out on the field and play to make it 8 or 9. Sounds to me like these kids have good support for each other, and maybe the ones on the baseball team want to go support their fellow baseball teammates who play basketball in their quest for the ultimate goal. It is very easy to stand back and criticize when you are not thrown into that situation. Some people look for any chance they have to bash WO-S. Good Luck Mustangs.
  20. Lumberton is doing better this year. I am not taking anything away from them, just taking up for the Mustangs because they are very young and only have 2 players returning from last year. Considering that they are doing better than people expected. They will be in a heck of a dog fight come district though!!
  21. The Lemaire kid made a hell of a diving catch last night to rob Sparks of a hit on a line drive.
  22. There were not 3 errors in the game. The first run that was scored was on a slow roller down the third base line and the third baseman decided to let it go at the last minute to roll foul but it hit the bag. Maybe a mental error but counts as a hit in the book. There was also a bloop hit to left in the 1st and a line drive up the middle that drove in two later on. Also a ball deep in the hole between short and third that there was no way a play could be made. I'm not taking anything away from McGalin, he did pitch a heck of a game, but WOS had at least 4, maybe 5 hits and not all the runs were unearned. Lumberton did look a lot better than they did at the WO-S tournament!! Good luck this year.
  23. It would be a little different if you were hosting a tournament.
