  1. It's highly likely that the Coogs will ride the L train to the regional finals where it's highly likely that they will face another 234A opponent just like last year. Yes it's true that this years version is very different from last years Championship team. So different that they beat playoff contender 5A Pearland. Something the Champs didn't accomplish. By the way, how many 5A schools did the L train run over? La Marque paid a price to whip the big boys but everyones 100% now. Not the case when the losses ocurred. I will be surprised if the choo choo boys can stay on track with the whooooosh boys.......but if they do, you should go deep in your first playoff season.
  2. I was at a LaMarque vrs Sante Fe game enjoying halftime. As the Coog band was starting to leave the field an Indian fan stood up and yelled " Don't leave, PLEASE!!!!...The Coogs will come back!!!! well, it was funny if you were there.
  3. Man you mid county guys are something else........Be very careful what you wish for. Three very large 5A schools in a row downed by a small 4A school who has not had their running back the last two and a half games....you know, the one that destroyed PNG.
  4. Just a few post game comments......I believe the comments after last years Nederland game were simular to earlier posts on this thread...." Coogs didn't impress me, etc etc" however a State championship remains impressive.....Also, many of you have overlooked LM penalties that removed them from PNG's TWO yard and FIVE yard line. Best to be objective guys.............. In an earlier post I ststed that LM was smallish and learning a new system...how fast do you want them to learn? I would say sometime around the second playoff game of which I think they will be 9 and 2. At that time let the chips fall to the best team. Where will PNG be then?
  5. I really beleive that the Coogs will surprise everyone with a conservative game. Notice I didn't say victory. Realize folks that this is an untested commodity. New coaching staff with only one or two exceptions, totally new offensive strategy, totally new defensive strategy, and for the first time in a long time....considerably smaller players with out blazing team speed. I am a staunch Coog fan, but I am also a realist, and the product will have to speak for itself before I am convinced that it is a traditional fast physical LaMarque team. The Indians will provide a reasonable test for the new Coogs and the margin of victory EITHER WAY will not influence the ultimate goal of a state championship. See you at Reliant!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Gosh, I would have suspected that LaMarque had about the best name recognition of any team around. Especially for a school with between 900 and 1000 enrollment. Thanks for the enlightment. (sp)?
  7. LaMarque verse Tyler John Tyler. Freezing rain , LaMarque loss, long drive home and a speeding ticket! Too bad LaMarque was not that fast that night.....LOL.
  8. www.attblueroom.com has entire game in archive section. With enough visits perhaps they will expand the coverage to all divisions. Worth a shot. Oh, by the way, you can skip the first quarter...heh heh
  9. Excuse me , Wolforth and Waco did not play for the championship. That would have been Lamarque and Waco. If I recall , LaMarque was preseason rated at 10, so big picture is the same. 10 might not be accurate, but they were no higher.
  10. You know Scooter, I was there and for the life of me, I didn't see Waco score 34 unanswered points on themselves! It interests me that LaMarque didn't beat themselves with a tipped pass and a wrong defense called on Wacos 2 yard line. I guess the victory is indeed in the eyes of the beholder. Looking forward to meeting some good GT teams next year including PNG at Reliant.
  11. Small correction, Waco was also beaten by Tyler Lee . They have two losses. This will be a very physical contest with many athletic players on both sides. Lots of hard hits on defense with Waco appearing to have a small advantage on the offensive side, and tradition and experience in the big one favoring Lamarque. It has already begun with LaMarque winning all the coin tosses. Home team in SanAntonio on Friday!
  12. Eighth State Final game in 11 years. Can we call them a powerhouse now, or are they just a lucky team with a good record?
  13. Yeah...records just happen, teams have nothing to do with them. Funny about how they just pick a team and stick with them. Like four state championships and two games away from a fifth in the last ten years. Just lucky I guess.......
  14. LaMarque by how many they want it to be.
  15. When I'm not at a LaMarque game I enjoy both Nederland and PNG.
  16. It has been pointed out in earlier posts that the difference in an occaisional good team and a power house program is that the program creates the "expect to win" atmosphere while the aforementioned team hopes to win. Sorry Bandsmen, I enjoy your posts but I subscribe to the program approach. So did the team that dropped ya'll from the playoffs. They just ran into a stronger program Saturday. Perhaps LaMarque will be beaten Saturday, but they won't know it until the game is over!
  17. The last Region lll 4A team to play AH beat them 69 - 14 in the Astro Dome. Perhaps an LC LM match up this season would have been an interesting game!!!
  18. Thanks for the replys guys. There is a highlite tape of LaMarque and Yates posted on the other site. Might give some insight to Coog non-believers. See ya'll next year at Reliant.
  19. It is obvious that I am a guest on your excellent site and do not intend to take away from the chatter about the GT teams, but I am curious as to the comments concerning the predictions for the upcoming Texas City vrs LaMarque game. Being from and for the Coogs, and knowing that ya'll are familiar with the records of each and the history of the battles between these two programs what is it that would prompt you to pick the underdog? Would it be sentimental, or a connection having played one or the other? Knowing both programs very well, it is interesting to me to sample " neutral " parties opinions. Believe me there is plenty of SMACK on our home site, so real opinions are requested if you please. Thanks for any input that you might offer.........Wooooooosh!
  20. It has been announced that the game will be at Galena Park Stadium Saturday at 2:00. For a quick look at both teams, check the videos at chron.com
  21. The only thing changed since the Coogs defeated the Stings in district is that the Coogs have made significant personnel changes resulting in a multi offensive scheme and a much much harder hitting and faster defense. TC was the third team out of 23A with both LM and FW beating them. However, it does seem to harder to beat a team twice in the same season although the Coogs have done it...eh Nederland?
  22. Shouda,woulda,couda------I understand that the Jags were without a very good running back or two. That being said, LaMarque was without a starting QB and the one that did start was virtually immobile ( ankle ) from the 1st half of the 1st quarter. Point being that the teams played the players available no more no less! Now we all know that every or 99% of offensive plays are designed to result in a score. Execution of these plays,by the players, determines winners and losers. No matter what plays were requested by coaches. Consequently, better players did not lose on Saturday! The players who executed best won! The game is over: one team is preparing for next week while the other is preparing for next year. Put your understandable emotions to work for next year understanding that true power house programs look ahead not behind!
