  1. FYI BronoFan.... he was sidelined until the 3rd quarter. He had a couple of good runs... when the ball was thrown. He actually took a hard hit that cracked his helmet. That just goes to what I was saying before.... the QB has to THROW the ball to OUR players otherwise you're not going to see their names in the paper!
  2. I agree with you BHEX86..... they need to shake things up! Remember, last year (I think) when the coaches actually let the boys run one of "those plays from practice" during an actual game? Guess what? IT WORKED and they scored! OMG..... either grow some b..... or have a little more faith in the boys to allow them to try other things. I think it's embarrassing that the QB has more rushing yards than passing! Did anyone notice in the Tuesday game that when he actually had time to pass the ball, or even run it, it ended up being sacked..... twice...for a loss of yardage!!!! Coaches should have pulled him and put #12 in..... what would it have hurt?? Don't get me wrong, not trying to act like the coaches and lay blame on one kid, accusing them of losing the game. I'm just saying, he's the QB, not the running back or receiver, he needs to start passing the ball or handing it off. If the plays aren't happening, then change the QB or the RB, but do something different!!!!! When the same ole thing isn't working, you have to shake things up! And another thing, I've been hearing that the coaches belittle the boys and tell them they're "losers" and "will never amount to anything", etc... If this is the case, and I hope it's not, how & why would you ever expect them to perform for you? I know, from when I was in school, that the coaches are tough on the boys, but being tough is one thing, demeaning is another. Can't wait until Saturday, let's see what they have in store for us. Hopefully, they'll pull a few surprises out of their hats and a "W" to go with it!
  3. Hey 4thand1, seems our fans aren't the only ones that don't stand up and cheer for the boys unless prompted! Our side seems to stand up and "cheer" (actually try to get the cheerleaders attention) when the cheerleaders throw mini-footballs and t-shirts into the crowd. Oh, there's some that do cheer, along with the 'crazy momma' cheer section. Your side was kind of quiet until the announcer got the crowd involved, which I have to say was irritatingly rude (IMO). I know we were in your house, but I have never heard an announcer at BH ever prompt the crowd "let's hear it for those Eagles", "that's another Eagle 1st down" etc. No I'm not saying anything about it because we lost. We lost because we were out played and made way too many mistakes. It was a win for the L-train and I'll give you that. I'm just saying that I think it's disrepectful, regardless of who you're playing or what the score it. If your the announcer, just announce the dang game and leave the cheering for the cheerleaders and crowd, regardless of how much cheering they're doing or not doing! That being said.......... Eagles, shake it off, figure out what you need to do, make the necessary adjustments and let's get back on track!!! The season is still early and I know you can turn things around!!! Let's go Eagles!!!
  4. Actually, BH34, according to the Aug 20th Varisty Roster, there's 43 boys on the team, 28 Srs, 11 Jrs and 4 Sophomores. Perhaps there's 7 returning varsity players that are seniors? And with those numbers in mind, next years team will be another "young" team, with only about 15 returning varsity players. Congrats to both teams for a game well played. Good luck on the season! Prayers go out to everyone affected by H-Gustav - be safe!
  5. Coop - Thanks for the info, I'll pass it along to those who can't go to the game so they can at least listen to it!
  6. So you do remember us???? Those were some good times. Nothing like Friday Night football games. Having to get used to Saturday afternoon games now. Must say that the tailgating is a lot more fun!! Haven't quite broken out my crazy momma stuff. Not sure those folks to the east are ready for this crazy momma from Texas! Good Luck Eagles!!! Remember ya, heck I miss ya!! I was hoping there'd be some mommas willing to carry the torch!!!! The '06 mommas helped pump up the boys & crowd (even ticked a few of 'em off because you were "too" loud)!! I'm hoping there's some willing to step up this year.... guess we'll see in a few hours! Should we get it started???? Two bits...four bits... hey six bits a dollar all for the Eagles STAND UP and holler!!! GO EAGLES!!!!!!
  7. Barbers Hill (Sophomore) 8 LaPorte (JV-b team) 35 Looked like BH has only about 16 kids on Soph. team, several playing both offense & defense. Heard BH JV is down, but I haven't heard a score or what quarter they're in. Playing PN-G.
  8. I heard BH expanded the visitor's side seating. Don't know if the stadium seating numbers stated previously (4500/1000) accounts for them or not, but we'll see Friday. This is good news--I heard they now have additional restrooms on both the home side & visitors side, as well as a concession stand on the visitors side --- which means less time waiting in lines, more time watching the game!!!! GO BIG BLUE!!!!
  9. I'm interested in finding out about BH too. The schedule showed 7:00 scrimmage time, but they were on their way back before then. Anybody have any info????
  10. I asked a friend about some sayings and here they are: "Blood makes the grass grow!" "They flipped him like a cheese omelet!" "Jumped on that like a chicken on a june bug!" this was once was told to a ref....... "you should be so ashamed about that call, you need to back up to get your paycheck!" "you hit like a girl!" "my sister can block better than that" those are just a few...... that have actually been said, heard, etc!
  11. Speaking of traditions and all....... does PN-G have "crazy mommas" like BH? Last year's BH Mommas (07) weren't quiet as 'entertaining' as the '06 Mommas. I know there's some of you '06 mommas still around, so y'all need to help the '08 Mommas step up their game a little this year! Get the megaphones, shakers and signs ready! It's football time in Texas girls! Let's show 'em what the BH Crazy Mommas are about!!!
  12. I didn't go because you're right, it's more like a practice than an actual scrimmage. I heard a sophomore, D Jenkins, ran 80 yards or so, for a TD. Is that the one you're talking about?
  13. I agree with you BHEX86............ these kids did not go out there expecting to lose in overtime. There was some good football being played Friday, just some mistakes that hurt us....FYI, not all of them where our mistakes..... I believe there's a picture, I think on eteamz, which shows the "interception" that should NOT have been because the ball was on the ground...... Once again, the Eagles lost, in part, because of a bad call or oversite of the refs. (Remember the hook & lateral - Smiley game?) Yes, the score should have been higher so we didn't have to worry the score and going into O/T... but it wasn't. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this team had over 30 varsity players graduate last year, so I think they done a great job this year, while trying to rebuild their program. Although we'd all like to have a 10-0 season every year, it just doesn't work that way.
  14. I agree with you 34sDad..... I don't know where 89-2 was sitting last Friday, but I heard Dustin Losier's name called out at least 5 times.....Merchantel is another one too....... they must be doing something right.... Oh I know... maybe he was sitting by the crazy mommas and couldn't hear those names being called out. ;D
  15. OMG!!! That was THE BEST game I've seen since standing in the rain last year in Galena Park!!!! Of course, the loss sucks, but guys...... YOU played your hearts out to the end. Almost 1000 yards on "O" in the game... impressive!!! And some of that helmet crashing made me hurt.... and I was in the stands!!!! I'm soooo proud of you boys. Hold your heads up, you have nothing to be ashamed of!!! And the fans...... just let me say that the fan participation was MUCH better and I know the boys appreciated it. That's what we need EACH week.... whether we're winning or losing.... we need to show our support and the boys need to SEE and HEAR it. I have to give it to Smiley.... ya'll were under estimated.... Good game to both teams!
  16. Alright Eagle Fans!!! It's going to be a perfect football evening......BBQ.....cool weather.....and homecoming on the Hill!!! Fans bring your spirits sticks..... Eagles bring your game!!! I smell an Eagle win in the air tonight.
  17. SETXsports.com HS Football Rankings 10-14-07 Written by KFDM COOP Sunday, 14 October 2007 Big School (5A-4A) 1. West Brook 2. Lumberton 3. PN-G 4. Nederland 5. Memorial 6. Dayton 7. Central 8. Ozen 9. Barbers Hill 10.LC-M Do ya'll see that???? SETXsports top 10 rankings of 5A/4A schools this week, and who's in the top 10??? That's right, BARBERS HILL!!!!! I think our record is 4-2-- not bad for a squad that's had to rebuild itself this year or did ya'll forget that we had approx. 33 seniors last year??? Also, I agree w/BHEX86... this board is as dull as most of the fan participation in the stands!!! Oh, except with the exception of when there's free footballs and t-shirts being thrown after a BH TD!!! The boys are trying, yes they have a few things they need to improve on, but people please... these are YOUR kids out there playing... Show them the support they WANT and need!!!
  18. and last year, BH beat Crosby @ Crosby 10-0........ doesn't mean anything.
  19. Well, from what I'm reading, it looks like both teams are matched up pretty equally as far as W/L and game stats go. This should definitely be a good game. I pick Eagles to win.......... 23-20. Go Big Blue!
  20. Way to go Blue!!! Way to pull it together and put last week's game behind you! Let's keep the momentum going!
  21. Good Luck Eagles! Play hard, play smart! May speed and precision be on your side!
  22. 2-bits 4-bits 6-bits a dollar, all for the Eagles STAND UP and holler!!! Yea! Go Eagles!!!!
  23. I agree! Where's the Eagle pride? Really people, it won't hurt for you to stand and cheer these kids on. Heck, sit and cheer if you must, but C H E E R!!!! I mean if you can get off your "seat" to stand up and yell when the cheerleaders are throwing footballs, you can do it during the rest of the game too! Let your hair down and live it up. Also, just because it won't be a 10-0 season is no reason to give up on these kids. After all, we are 1-1 and there's 8 games left - too many to decide anything this early in the season. Regardless, I'm going to continue to support these kids. Sorry BHEX86, you started the ball rolling!
