Ever since they joined the WAC their fans have been overly arrogant on fan message boards! If only they woud realize that they weren't the first choice to join the WAC. If you guys join and we don't just know that you've got one bearkat on your side!
How are we arrogant again?
Not all Texas State fans are arrogant just some of you.  It seems like Texas State is always looking down on LU and SHSU. Whether its academics, athletics or even LU potentially joining the WAC I always hear, “We are trying to get away from those schools. They aren’t our peers!”  But, it could just be a small few that makes everyone look bad though….

However if I was President of Lamar, I would dot my "i" and cross all my "t" before announcing. I think this what Lamar is doing. If Lamar was not making the move, I think they would have stopped all this FBS talk by now. There is no rush, as frustrating as it is, to announce today. I'd start worrying after April is nothing is announced. The WAC forum has not researched Lamar. Many there believe Lamar is a start up program instead of a return to football school. Many there don't know Lamar was in the same conference with Central Florida, North Texas, and ULL. Many there don't know Lamar was once in the Sunbelt. Many there don't know Lamar played at FBS level. They think Lamar is an academically low school. They don't know Lamar is one of the top engineering schools and 1 of only 17 doctoral research schools nation wide. Also on the track for Tier 1. Lamar is on track for tier 1. Lamar is lagging behind the schools you mentioned. It was announced a few years ago and I posted it on the other Lamar forum before it shut down. Lamar tier 1 won't happen over night. Lamar  will be an 80 million dollar research. UT-Austin is 300 million in comparison. Texas wants the school named after the Father of Education to be tier 1.

I forgot that UNLV made that post. Everyone knows that everything UNLV posts lacks credence...
 4.

In the article it talks about a pathway for other schools to become tier 1.  I wonder if one of LU's goals is to work towards this.  I know we have just recenctly been recognized as a research university, but we still have a long way to go to become tier 1.

It’s not as easy as it looks. We've had the same "Carnegie Doctoral Institution" at SHSU for quite some time now. To have a chance at all you need to increase research spending by A LOT and increase the amount of Ph.d's by A LOT. UH is huge and they produce a lot of doctorates. You must also increase the size and ranking of the sciences. Our administration has us on track to be a top ten university in the state of Texas that will place in the same conversation as the tier one schools however we will not get the funding of tier one schools. This post made me chuckle! Its funny but true, the WAC does appear to look like the new Southland conference!  ;D
 8. LA schools struggling financially + Lamar’s ambitions to leave = SHSU is outta here! Everyone talks about the WAC as a sinking ship but the SLC isn't looking that much better. I actually think that the WAC will stabilize and be ok. However, we all can see the myriad of troubles that the SLC is destine to face. SHSU needs to get on our lifeboat and jump ship before this whole thing sinks.
 9. Im not playing this game of whos school is better. Im just saying that you guys are going to force our hand and cause us to look to join quicker than we might like...

We will not let Txst and Lamar go FBS and us stay FCS. Why would we? In our capital campaign we raised over 61 million dollars in four years in a down economy so money isn't as big of a deal as some may think. If there is a reason to get behind something our alums will pony up the cash. (By the way the goal was 50 miilion in five years) I think our two schools are joined at the hip. Unfortunately, I think Lamar is driving this whole thing. You guys want to jump a lot more than we do. If Lamar wants to go bad enough the Lamar University "big wigs" will make it happen. Yall will jump and (by default) so will we.
According to katfans, Lamar will be jumping off a cliff if we go FBS. Are you saying SHSU will jump off a cliff if LU jumps?: Sounds brainless to me a school not being able to think for itself. SHSU, Lamar's shadow. I mean think about, SHSU can't move on issues until Lamar decides. LOL, losers.

Wow! You missed it! Let me simplify it for you UNLV: For everyone else: We (SHSU) would prefer to stay but may have to adjust our plans contingent upon potential movements in the FBS (Lamar included).
If you prefer to stay FCS, STAY FCS. Do what is best for SHSU. You don't see Lamar letting SHSU lead it around. Why Lamar?  Why not say 'if TX st goes FBS, then SHSU will go. Why link yourself to Lamar. You have more in common with TX st. Lamar played football at the highest level, Tx st has not. Lamar use to be in the Sunbelt, Tx st did not. Lamar is just moving back to a level it was before, Tx st is in new territory. Why not SHSU go attach itself to TX st jock. Get off ours, creepy.

1) Um... You are aware that Texas State is already going to the WAC right? 2) We are doing what is best for SHSU. Being in a diluted SLC while our peers are in a higher (but yet equally weak) conference isn't a good look for our school. 3) Why Lamar? Duh, because Lamar is still in the FCS with us. Don't get me wrong Lamar did play in the SBC (not exactly what you call the "highest" level) but where are you now? 4) SHSU isn’t on anyone’s “jock”. This is Sam Houston State, a school named after Texas’s greatest hero.

Move on and support your school and I'm sure LUCardinal learned not to assume a persons race while on the internet. You didn't "made sure he got his a** whooped Texas style". LUCardinal is very smart but just didn't know he was talking to a black guy. At 43, I've put my foot in my mouth a few times and if you are honest you probably have too. Since this is your first post here on this forum I hope you will bring more to the table than this topic.

Im sorry, did I start this thread? No, I'm just responding to a thread in which I was involved in. Mind your own business and I'll do the same.
No need to get defensive, I was just telling you and everyone else LUCardinal is not a racist person he just didn't know who he was talking to. Congratulations on the BearKat victory over SE La today. We can discuss that if you would like.

I don’t think he is a racist, as a matter of fact I never called him racist, I just think he is ignorant about black culture. Even so, it doesnt matter if he thought he wasn't talking to a black guy or not, what he said was still wrong. No offense, but it doesn’t look good for you to defend his actions. I agree, we all make mistakes I have forgiven him and moved on, no hard feelings. I didn’t want to start my first thread out with a negative but, I do look forward to better and more substantive discussions in the future. By the way thanks for the acknowledgements of my bearkats they played hard and we are proud of them …
