  1. Its Port Neches and his name is Bryce Tallant
  2. Port Neches-Groves boys 7, Silsbee 1 PORT NECHES -- Trying to stay in a commanding position for a playoff spot, Port Neches-Groves rallied from an early scare to topple Silsbee, 7-1, on Tuesday night at The Reservation. PN-G (8-3-3 and 7-2-1) never had the lead in this game during the first 30 minutes of the opening half, but coach Don Sandell's Indians retrieved a bit of their energy level after taking a 2-1 advantage into halftime. Kris Hayes delivered one goal and two assists and Nathan Romero poked home two goals before an improved Silsbee squad dropped to 5-5 and 5-5. "I'm not disrespecting (Silsbee coach) Dale's (Cormier) team but we didn't have the same energy level we had against Nederland," the Indians coach Sandell said. "We quit doing some of the things we were doing that had made us successful. We weren't playing up to our expectations and I think our players realized that." Carlos Ortiz and Romero scored first-half goals. Romero fired home the go-ahead goal from about the six-yard box, giving PN-G its first lead with 10 minutes left in the half. Evan Johnson, Sean LeBlanc, Hayes, Bryce Tallant and Romero responded for a more-focused Indians' second-half scoring effort. The Indians dominated shots on goal, 27-5. Junior goalkeeper Steven Baque had four saves for the Tribe.
  3. PORT NECHES -- Stephen Zimmerman finally decided to take matters onto his own shoes and Don Sandell seemed glad that he did late Tuesday night. The Port Neches-Groves junior stopper with primary responsibility of playing great defense, Zimmerman found his Indians deadlocked in a scoreless game midway into the second half when he delivered a game-winning through ball into the net. Zimmerman's goal lifted the Indians over Vidor, 1-0, at The Reservation on a very windy night when PN-G (7-3-2 and 6-2) had to feel snakebit and windblown. First-year head coach Don Sandell's Tribe kept finding no luck at all as at least four Indians shots caromed off Vidor's goalpost. Zimmerman began a special length-of-the-field run with about 18 minutes left in the game. He combined with teammate Sean LeBlanc on a give-and-go opportunity. LeBlanc positioned a well-placed pass back to Zimmerman. And then, well let's allow Sandell to describe Zimmerman's game-winning shot. "Stephen calmly placed a through ball into the goal," the PN-G coach said. "It was picture-perfect." Sandell had other reasons to be happy. For one thing, the Indians' defense limited Vidor (6-5-1 and 4-4) to six shots during the entire game. "Holding a team as good as Vidor to only six shots was important and Baque had a great game," Sandell said. "We received some great performances, too, from our sweeper Eric Parks and our center midfielder Kris Hayes." Baque delivered his season's fifth shutout, producing three huge first-half saves while the Pirates had the benefit of a 15-to-20 mile-an-hour north wind.
  4. I am impressed with your post about the injury and respect you for your apology. I talked to coach Sandell and he said it was just one of those things that happen there was nothing dirty about the play. A lot of people do not think that soccer is a contact sport but it is. Good luck Tuesday I'll be watching!
  5. PNG JV all the way. what time do ya'll start so I can come early and watch some JV. I got there too late against LCM because of the injury to the LCM player.
  6. I agree and I think PNG JV is awesome!
  7. Okay lets throw out another Indian Player... LeBlanc
  8. I would like to congratulate Central on their win tonight. They played a good clean game of soccer. It was physical yes but no cheap shots. There were fouls both ways but that is soccer. Port Neches played hard but couldnt capitalize on some scoring opportunities. Once again congratulations Central and thanks for the good game.
  9. PNg Central game starts at 5:30 at Babe Zahariahs
  10. I agree totally Bryce is a huge asset to any team he plays for. And he is greatly missed on the field by his teammates, but he is still there for them everygame supporting them and leading from the sidelines. I know that the PNG boys are looking forward to a good game Friday night.
  11. In all due respect for Bryce he is a definite asset to the PNG team but he is not the only leader and quality player on the team. There are three returnong starters from last year Bryce sr, LeBlanc sr, and Zimmerman Jr. Bryce is a playmaker but if you were to ask him he would say that he is part of a team and there are other quality players on the team. Do not underestimated PNG just because Bryce is not there.
  12. Yes it is a big loss to lose Bryce but we still have some outstanding players. LeBlanc (2) at mid(team leader), and E. Parks(9) at sweeper. Ryan Clarke for Ned is a great player as well as defender Taylor Rush.
  13. Apology or no apology it should not have happened. It does strike me as odd that the only thing you commented on about my post was the coach. Not the challenge to come out and play clean soccer and prove that ya'll can win a game on skill alone.
  14. I think Central has a lot of good talent on there team I watched them play Nederland. They have some very good foot skills. But if they want to prove there 5 - 0 standing in district is deserved they should come out and play clean soccer, (Mexican style soccer does not mean DIRTY PLAY, deliberately trying to hurt another player is not a valid style of any soccer), for the rest of the season. Then if they can beat Vidor, PNG and Lumberton playing clean they deserve to be at the top of the district. I am very disappointed in the referring I have seen this season it is a shame when kids get hurt just because a ref does not control a game. I believe in letting them play, soccer is a physical sport but there is a fine line between letting them play and losing control. As for Central's coach I lost all respect for him when I saw him put his hands on a player and shake him and scream at him. No matter how many cards a player gets or how cheap he plays he does not deserve to be demeaned and manhandled by an adult especially a public school teacher.
  15. PNG does have Class..... Take the WOS game last Friday They could have run the score up but they didnt. they even played the second half with 10 players. If there was trash talking going on I'm sure it was coming from both sides.
