i think the necessity to count up in pro games might be because of stoppage time.  if their clocks went down to zero, the crowd and coaches wouldn't know when 3 extra minutes were up.  in HS, they don't have stoppage time, so it doesn't matter.  but i think hawk might be right as well, i doubt most of these scoreboards around here have the capability to go up anyway.
That's interesting.  I can't remember which game it was but it was an away game where the opposing team was obviously taking their time subbing in and out while trying to protect their lead, keeper taking time shagging ball, defender kicking ball to the stands, that the center ref said he was adding so many minutes of play to the game which makes me wonder, was this an unusual event?  Do local refs do that or have the discretion to do it?
I have seen refs stop the clock when teams attempt to that, but i dont know that i have every actually seen refs add times
ditto.
I've participated in games where the refs couldn't stop the clock in time to address either excessive/flagrant fouls or delay tactics so he added 3 minutes of stoppage time, and yes this area.
 2. Alright so Lumberton's prep for post season comes with their preseason games. District 38 is stacked. Basically 38 will sweep 37 in the playoffs, in the first round. Again for all the Lumberton supporters I hold nothing against y'all, I generalize the majority of 37 will be swept, doubtful y'all will be.
 3.
Oh, but to have been that close.  Something I doubt any club from 37 or 38 will experience anytime soon. It all starts with quality club teams/organizations.  Man oh man, we got a long way to go.
Your first and third sentences were very encouraging and intelligent, but you sandwiched them around a negative and slanderous statement, kudos on the presentation.
 4. I'll agree with Rip on this one, unification would be great in this area because you would get the level of competition and also a mingling of players that normally wouldn't happen. All of which seem like benefits, unless there's something I'm overlooking. In my opinion the whole Super Gold thing the B.E. does is a good thing, but in years past hasn't been the most credible way to award top players in the area as a whole, per se. Because, no disrespect to the B.E. but it doesn't cover soccer like it does with other sports say baseball, football, or basketball so it seems that they base it off of coaches opinions or whatever information they get, which can include this forum. All said when I played and the players from across the league I've talked to the Super Gold team seems like a consolation prize at times. There's my two cents, now let's see who will crucify it.
 5. I like how sharkfutbol's comment was basically passed over or ignored. But yes I agree, it's a mutual responsibility, players are responsible for their play, whether it be intentional or not.
 6. Haha when has central, at least in the last 8 years, played a clean game in a big game. Against Nederland for instance, instead of playing soccer they decide to play cheap shot, it's a game they've played before, with different outcries from the receiving team. YET nothing has been done to discipline or punish the coach who consistently is carded (by comparison to every other coach in the area) and is still allowed to coach the game. Astonishing.
 7. Alright, I've done both, been a player, and a ref. I think it gave me an advantage over other refs who have never played the sport but only officiate it, because of the fact that I played it and experienced the little things and what to look for or expect in a game. However, a ref only has a 180 degree plane of view (I know that is not the exact degree, but you get the point) and that leaves a whole 180 degrees "blind" to the center ref, regardless of how much of a swivel he keeps his head on. That's where good line judges come in handy because they can see the "blind" degrees. Yes I agree that the calls in this area have been lacking, I don't know why, but they have been. @Xavierbreath: you are right, it's not right to bash the refs in excess, yet there have been a few at best posts bashing the refs, one of which I started. Because honestly, the lack or weakness of some of the calls in the area are appalling. And this is a public board that refs are well aware of, so it's not like they are being attacked in a way that they can't defend. Of course, there will always be people upset with the officiating at a HIGH SCHOOL soccer game, because let's face it, even the refs in national games miss calls, but the level of calls being missed here are below that of what they should be. Finally, you do indirectly point out an issue that usually falls upon deaf ears, lack of refs, because I know for a fact that there have been games officiated without a full staff, which contributes to missed calls, but it's all because there aren't enough refs.
 8. Alright Soccer, you need to clarify which team you are referring to, whether it be men or women, because yes the women's team is solid, I'm pretty sure Nederland has a more solid defense on the men's side.
 9. Too many goals given up, and yeah it takes a whole team to mess up to give up a goal but still. Plus there is already a thread about this. **defense**
 10.
This dude ranks teams on a weekly basis (almost).  He does a separate boys and girls rankings.  While it may not be accurate, it sounds/looks interesting.  top 25
Did I miss something in this statement? Cause I have no clue whats being said here, except someone ranks people on a weekly basis and provides girls and boys ranking.
 11. Coach L I'm pretty sure everyone here has mad respect for your program, as much as everyone does for Nederland. As of now they have been playing for a rather long time as a team. I have no doubt out of 10 games against each other with the current squads the final record would either be 6-4 or 5-5, either team in either position. I mean one team could have an off night, or the field conditions could post a problem. So in my opinion both teams are equally good. Unfortunately, if the two teams do meet it will only be once and from there the best mens varsity squad will be crowned.
 12. Coach L I wasn't saying that Lumberton isn't a good team, I would have to have mental problems to believe that. I was just saying that if you were to ask around in places away from here you would be more likely to find someone who knows about Nederland soccer vs Lumberton soccer. That's the only reason I said that, I was basically alluding to what wasone03 said.
 13.
Lumberton over Vidor. Hands down. I guess Nederland can join Lumberton. Its quite an honor to be grouped with Lumberton.
I would've thought that statement would be the other way around?
 14. 2-1 All I know is that will be the final score, now who has two is up in the air, there's a 50/50 chance it'll be Vidor. All depends on who wants it for this one.
 15. Men's Varsity: 6-(0,1) Vidor Women's Varsity: 5-2??? (I don't have too much knowledge of the women's team, no offense meant)
 16. They've reached a point to where they could lose all their games and still qualify for the playoffs....at least that's my understanding of this.
and three of college... the only difference between high school and college was that the punches were usually a little sneakier.
Yeah I know what you mean, the more competitive it gets the more intelligent/sneaky the fouls are. For instance, this girl in the video below would've got away with it were it not for the pesky video camera..... [Hidden Content]
..........All I'm saying is all these video games are to blame. My statement still stands that I think people are losing respect for the game and fellow players on the field.
video games have nothing to do with it.  as Bon_Mot has posted before, people have been punching people when they're mad for a very long time.  i haven't played HS soccer in 9 years, and back then there were plenty of incidents like this.
I was making a joke, sorry I have a dry sense of humor. But with regards to CL and Newcastle I agree

 21.
There was a minor fist fight between two girl players to end the Lumberton/Nederland game Friday night. I am surprised that there are no threads about it. I think there were two send offs. Then Nederland was awarded a PK with 23 seconds left in a 0-0 game. Both players were equally guilty in the fight. It should have been a drop ball.
I know I know I'm slipping. In all honesty though those just happened to be the first things I posted about when I got this account. All this does is prove that violence is being taken notice off and looked down on disapprovingly.
 22.
I think that Silsbee is a lot better than what people give them credit for. They have not had the best season so far, but i heard they were beating LCM at one point in their game. If they play like a team and try to control the game better, then they really need to be approached with caution. I think its just a mental thing, they have talent
They might be able to start the game, but they couldn't finish it in the case of LCM....6-2
